Men of valor

Like many of you, I have been extremely saddened to hear about the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado this weekend. It is heartbreaking to hear about the lives that were lost and the families that are left with the huge loss of loved ones. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were affected.

I read that there were three men who shielded their girlfriends and lost their lives protecting them. True men of valor. I am sure it was an instinctive move to do so because men innately want to protect. At least, that is what my Father always told me.

He said that any man that does not show you he wants to protect you is not the man for you. He would say, “Pay attention to that kind of thing because it is always about their character.”

A lot of women overlook the importance of a man’s character. It’s not until they are faced with a particular situation that shows them a man’s true character. I believe the same holds true for men. They think that looks are enough until they realize the severe lack of character.

How do you think people show their character in the early stages of dating? What do you pay attention to?

Have you ever dated someone and realized how great their character was? What were the circumstances?

I think I’m probably more so romanticizing about the ski lodge and all that other good stuff that comes with it

Cel/Leggs – That’s my fantasy as well!LOL!! Chilling at the lodge with a hot toddy by the fire, talking to my fine hubs looking good in a nice turtleneck and sweater!!

@Cel: If it makes you feel any better, one of the first things you do on a cruise is attend a mandatory meeting about emergency procedures. Put on the life jacket and everything. ;) We won’t let you drown, Twink.

Single and Happy – LOLOLOL…okay I’m sold on scuba diving. As long as I have a tank for oxygen and you’re going down there with me and there’s a limit on how deep (cause I hear too deep is just as dangerous), I’m in :)

Kimmie – Okaaaay…lol That’s why I said romanticizing.

ITL – Okay…that is much better and good to know. At least I know safety precautions are in place and handed out AHEAD of pulling out.

Exiled I get it all the time, but you only live once, and life is no fun if you live it in fear :-) I’m scared of heights but went up in the space needle, and CN tower in Toronto and stood on the glass floor, been on the sky bridge at grand canyon, was nervous as heck but it was great.

single and happy – I admit that tower in Toronto does look a tad bit intimidating. I wasn’t in Toronto but I had a hand in planning someone else’s trip and tried to squeeze that on to the itinerary. it didn’t happen.

@Single: I was at the Grand Canyon in April, but did not (and probably would not!) go on the sky bridge. I was happy and content to climb up on some rocks and watch the sunset.

Cel – Light is right, that safety meeting is the first thing they do on the cruise! It irritated me a little though the last cruise I was on, cause I got a drink the minute I got on the ship and I was ready to get my party ON!! LOL!!!

Celisea ~ skiing is awkward. Lay me flat on some device and let me soar. I was scared, but it was so much fun. Didn’t have to worry about falling cuz I was already on the ground. Just had to worry about the tree in front of me.

Ski lodge is real cool. What I really digged back then was watching all those guys in ribbed turtleneck sweaters. I thought the look sexy to me…ok, ok, cheap thrills.

I have never jumped in water. I gingerly walk into a pool throwing water on myself until my shoulders and neck are wet. Then I’ll go under. I don’t know how to float….well now that I have a butt, perhaps my chances are a little better (lololol).

celisea yea yea yea, I hear your talking with all this cyber bravery (LOL) but if you’re ever at a resort in the Caribbean you should try discover scuba, most that I’ve talked to that tried it liked it, the funny thing about scuba diving is you have to know how to swim to get certified, but you don’t have to know how to swim to dive.

Kimmie…that Safety meeting is ANNOYING as Hell…you are so ready to take off, and then start the meeting and it ain’t quick like a plane’s safety instructions…speaking of which, why do they do the plane instructions, nobody is listening, sending text messages and the like, and truthfully, if the plane goes downs, that little cup mask ain’t gonna do a dayum thing

Not to switch gears but y’all remember that episode of Good Times where James and Florida borrowed Charlie’s cabin for the weekend? I think the chick was named Gloria that got the weekends mixed up and showed up….in her tight pants. James was saying “have mercy”, while she bent over to warm her hands by the fire? And James was pulling up those tight corduroys? Florida was mocking him when he laughed “EH EH EH”, while not cracking a smile herself? Y’all remember that episode? Ski lodge talk brings that to mind.

Holy Crap it’s hot! The water was 85 deg. at the surface! My dogs got tired, so we came home, plus it was past time for them to eat. You don’t wanna let the big dogs eat late, or you wake up to a surprise.

I left the page up as I left and came back, hit refresh, and here I am…

ITL, I did retire at 31 – I donate my time and education. I worked this weekend, because one colleague was sick, and another wanted to spend a little longer on vacation with his family. I actually did have to be on time, show up, and take orders this weekend. I always help others when I can, and try my best to do as such.

C, I waited for your reply to get you that purse. You know I did. I’m glad you pulled the trigger and treated yourself. Before I worked this weekend (I say worked, because I had to, because of commitment), I treated my self with sushi @ TwisT, (went across the street), hit David Yurman and ended at Salvador Ferragamo (ummmm Italian shoes). My personal shoppers were happy on Friday afternoon!!!

I have not read pages 4-7 and I need a shower, but I’ll be back tomorrow.
