Best breakup advice?
I was getting my car checked for emissions the other day, and the technician randomly asked me for dating advice. He wanted to know what the best way to get over your ex.
Now I was surprised by a couple of things: How did emissions technician know I was a dating blogger? Men actually worry about this kind of thing too?
I have gone through a couple of break ups, so thankfully I have come a bit more resilient. I didn’t have many tips to offer the brokenhearted emissions guy. Time makes it a lot easier. Distractions are good. What is a good amount of time to get over a relationship that lasted years?
Some people think that men get over break ups faster, but I think they are just better at hiding their pain. What kind of things do you do when a relationship ends?

As much as I may have thought about doing something crazy liking punching holes in the walls, I’ve never actually done any of that. Like my Pops told me some years ago, what you should do is take all that anger, bitterness, and disgusted energy to put the fire under your ass to do better which is the best revenge…not making yourself look like an ass. lol

ITL – I was serious though. we were in the other woman’s car. I even told her we could go back and get my car and I’d drive her. she wouldn’t have to worry about where he was, we knew where he was and she wouldn’t have had to worry about someone identifying her car. I had her back. lol.

I don’t put any stock in folks on the outside looking in because more than likely they don’t know the truth…the entire story. So if I end up looking like a fool, it’s okay
Who cares what anybody else think when I know and the other person knows the full story.
I would guess it’s probably safe to not form an opinion in these type scenarios unless it know it from both sides.
I don’t think anything merits getting yourself locked up or committed…lol…but before I pass judgement or criticize a situation from the outside looking in, on any man or a woman acting out, I know there’s more to the story than what I’m seeing.

I can’t imagine my car getting keyed, proving who done it is one thing and knowing who done it is another. Who cares your’e angry don’t act it out take your bumps in the road like everyone else does. An attitude adjustment (shrink) might help and should be considered if you have to resort to bad energy being lost on people you hate.

BF – resisting the urge to act out is a journey. we all have our burdens to bear. every single day I have to resist the urge to act out in some form or another. may not necessarily be keying a car but I have to resist cursing out a neighbor, resist pimp slapping a co-worker, resist dragging a retarded A driver out of their car. you get where I’m going with this. it’s not just me and my anger issues, I feel like most folks in general have to deal with resisting their urges to act out. I think it’s kind of why we secretly respect folks who don’t have “acting out filters”. it’s why we laugh and say “so and so is crazy”. we kind of wish that every now and again we’d get a free pass to act out.

Every now and then there should be someone to come along (male or female) for that one person (again male or female…cause some women are a trip), in letting said person know, you stumbled on the right person this time. When everyone has “done the right thing” in granting a pass on bad behavior or letting stuff slide, there’s nothing wrong with a person that’s not going to tolerate their mess and letting them know so.

I see a LOT of cars on a weekly basis and you’ll be surprised how many vehicles are subject to insane keying and vandalism. And it’s not your normal keying up and down the side of the car either…B!tch..F you…Lil Dizzle Mofo etc are just a few phrases you’ll find…even a few words inside the car in spray paint as well.

So true. I get what others are saying. At the same time I’m not obligated to show any amount of anything to someone that shows blatant disrespect. Being too nice or granting folks a pass can cause a bigger problem….ENABLING. No you can’t change folks nor correct how they get fueled by wronging others but you can let them know to carry that foolishness somewhere else.

have you ever seen a car wrapped in saran wrap or bubble tape? granted I don’t think that’s a spiteful break up thing so much as a prank but I’ve seen it a few times. I always think of the dedication/commitment involved in pulling that off.

celisea – I’m fond of saying “not on my watch”. sometimes I don’t really care what a person does but they won’t be doing it to me/with me/around me. I just called out my neighbors. ms. there goes the neighborhood and another neighbor have taken to double parking to keep our new neighbors from parking in front of their homes or next to their cars. they don’t have a problem with folks parking in general. just don’t want Hispanic people in front of their house. i told one yesterday that she has a lot of nerve and to not be surprised if she gets a letter/fine from the HOA. while I didn’t exactly threaten to report her I’m hoping she got the hint. I can’t control her issues with the new neighbors but she will not get away with that foolishness on my watch. and no, she hasn’t made arrangements to move yet. lol.

BF – yes they are still tripping on the new neighbors and are oblivious to how it really makes them look. as far as I’m concerned, how they view them is how they view me. all of their issues are strictly in their own minds. I haven’t had an issue parking and I live directly across the street from them. I haven’t heard loud noise. they appear to come home, go in their house and mind their own business.
ex – that same chick once cried when we were out because another guy she was seeing was dancing with someone. she literally cried. after her second time crying on me I cut her off. now I’ll go to brunch/dinner with her or something but that’s it, no more full fledged social outings.
