Is passion overrated?

Passion. Chemistry. Intense desire. Are these things that could actually be overrated? If you aren’t with someone and feel all these things, does it mean you two aren’t supposed to be together?

If everyone is waiting around for the person that they feel strong passion for, does that mean we are all naive and don’t know what real, true, long-lasting love is about?

When you consider the things that makes most couples last beyond six months, how important do you think passion and chemistry are?

I was watching New Girl and Zoe Daschanel’s character wants to end things with a man because he did not seem to have the same “passion” he felt for his ex-wife….a woman he “hates.” He tells New Girl, “Passion is overrated” and that kind of intensity burns out fast and is not enough to sustain a healthy relationship.

TV fiction aside, I had to think about which one I would pick if I had to pick one: passion-filled affair or long-lasting aka lukewarm, attraction. If you had to pick one, which would you want?

Were your best love affairs filled with passion or deep like?

If you’re in the market for a blender, do yourself a favor & get a Ninja.

Soo cosign…I loove my Ninja. The fact that I can blend into to go cups OR a 40oz pitcher is awesome and the recipes are fun and easy…

Afternoon all,

Topic – passion is an ingredient. Without I life in general is bland. Too much of it and you get heart disease. Lol

Side topic – 1st car was a 3rd gen hand me down 80 cutlass. Big bruh had it b4 me so really everybody knew it as his car. Thanks to the game I quickly bought a ol school that was all ME. Good times

Leggs – I don’t know if it’s the sugar from this smoothie i’m drinking but reading about your sweat stains in a silk blouse just cracked me up

Teaching someone how to drive a stick can be very frustrating….I taught the ex how to drive my Kia Ria back when they first came out….that was the worst newest car I’ve ever had. Thank goodness Kia has come a long way as far as quality goes.

Stick shifts are fun to drive but not living in heavily populated/traffic areas. I caught plenty of cramps in my leg when I used to work downtown. Not fun!

Leggs – Those hills would have me soooo nervous and I would start cussing out drivers that would pull up too close to my rear because it made me MORE nervous about rolling back into them. The first day of my attempt to learn to drive, I got so scared on a hill that I had to get out and let my stepdad take over. lol

Now on to a different type of vehicle—> the scooter. The first time I drove a scooter I was in the Bahamas and they drive on the opposite of the road. I nearly killed myself trying to make a turn because I got confused on which way to go. I also hit the gas too hard on my first try and barely ended up running into the side of McDonalds lol

Like magic :)

Leggs – Hell, nothing but words to me. I taught myself that day and smoothed out the rough edges during a long trek to Marietta. I was sweating bullets

LOL…I laughed at the sweating bullets part. Self help/taught is something else. Getting back to Atlanta and learning to shift gears was something to conquer. Did I mentioned I was in a wedding that day…maid of honor…and they were waiting on me. That’s why I called myself dumb… It’s true. My bff was hot with. O/T – I think it’s about time for me to take a trip home and spend some time with my folks. I’m feeling quite ghetto. all angry and confrontational. usually I just need a dose of home to get it out of my system, spend some time with some folks who don’t call me by my government name. as it is I’ve had two snap moments this week.

You got me beat, your story is hysterical. → “and was fairly confident i could figure the rest of ‘em out if he let me keep the car long enough.” A mercedes at that. Bet he laughed all day at that suggestion.

leggs, he laughs about it now. he wasn’t amused then. that 2-seater coupe was a purchase he made while stationed in germany. that bad boy was midnight blue with gold package and camel tan leather interior. suweet!!

he refused to leave it in my care when they got stationed in japan. he chose to leave it with his dad instead. only to come home a year later and find the car so completely ruined that he had to chunk it. he said his little sister drove the thing into the ground. she somehow managed to wear a hole in the floorboards so bad you could actually see the road between your feet
my sister told me there were wires hanging from everywhere inside and out; none of the windows worked; the hood wouldn’t stay down. she said she never gave two sh!ts about the car before then but she nearly cried at the sight of it.

and the kicker …. the whole time they were overseas his family continuously swore to him the car was not being driven at all! i told him he shoulda left it with me. the most he would have had to do was a little transmission work. :)

@Slim ~ where I work, I call it The Pet Cemetry. Once you get in, you don’t want to leave. No one seems to leave (and it’s hard to get fired here). I work for the meanest person in the entire company. You gots to have backbone to sit in this chair! Here I is, 16 years later! Whew! Never woulda thunk I would still be here. I think when I retire, I might get 3 ppl to attent, I kid, I kid, kinda sorta (lol).

Slim – The company put it out last year there would be cuts…and boy are they cutting left and right. We didn’t even get our trip to Florida this year let alone other small one off trips. By now I would have had at least 2 working on my 3rd. Too while I’m laughing at the other group, we got an email yesterday saying if you’re printing all of your work on color printers to switch to black and white :| I’m sure more cuts, not just in staffing are sure to come. Oh another one…if you’re not in a meeting longer than six hours no lunch will be expensed…bummer

I think they’re still recovering on the trip to Miami last year. That bad boy carried a price tag of over $100,000…I hear

czbrat – I had to read this line twice: that bad boy was midnight blue with gold package and camel tan leather interior Somehow the brain initially thought it read it had camel toe leather  And that story is similar to the one on Q100 where a chick was told to drive a car back to a guys house that got locked up which had less than 6000 miles on it. The chick had been driving it the whole time buddy was locked up and put almost 30k miles on it I believe, drove it down to Miami and other places with her friends.

Leggs – Even after all that time of working there, your boss is still a dizzle???
