Being frugal sexy?

I was listening to the Frank and Wanda radio show on the way to work yesterday. They were talking about dating frugal people and someone said that using a coupon on a date was not sexy. Seriously! Being smart about money is a turn off?

How does using a coupon kill the romance on a date, though? If a guy whipped out a coupon, groupon, or even foursquare check-in discount, do you know how impressed I would be?

It’s like some women have this fantasy of being wooed by wealthy men, and a coupon kind of jolts them back to “practical reality” or something.

Have you ever used a coupon or discount deal on a date? If not, would you be opposed to it?

Would it bother you to date someone who is frugal?

High five @ Jake!

No worries, Slim. I’m struggling to keep it going this afternoon. I just walked into the breakroom to get my salad from the frig, stopped to wash my fork, and walked right back out – without my salad!! ugh!

Who saved $25K using a coupon?!?!?! On one item, or collectively?

But don’t you all feel a little weird about tipping at, say places like, Piccadilly when you take your own food to the table and fix your own drinks, with no refills? I’m thinking, am I tipping you for asking me if I need anything. Just saying

ITL – Somebody was saying this morning that they use coupons because it’s tremedous with their $50K a year dining out habit. Something like that. I’m thinking though if you got $50K a year in dining, you’re balling too hard to clip coupons but hey, I’ve heard stranger things

I thought at Picadilly somebody came and took your tray away and came by with refills… been a long time, though, and I might be confusing them with S&S. Anywho, I still tip in that situation because they are providing a service. Generally, though, it is at a lower percentage than at a full-service restaurant.

Lol@Slim…oh, please believe my tipping is merit based, everyone starts with with 20%, everyone doesn’t leave with it…as for the Picadilly type places, 10% max…or the good ole, I’ll leave you two bucks for being cordial and not messing up my meal with attitude.

ITL – They normally take your tray for you and bring you refills but this last time I went, I carried my own tray, got my own condiments and didn’t need a refill. (water)

Jake – A lot of folks hold onto that $2 tip for Errrrythang. Boy that made me laugh  And I believe I asked you all if you tipped on to-go orders at all? (whether it be Carrabba’s to-go or JR Crickets wings) Tip or no tip???

@Cely: ROTFL!!! Before I went back to see what you were talking about, I thought to myself, “It must be HST saying something like that.” Yup, yup, and yup. ROTFL.

HEY HST: Since you’re saving 25% of 50K a year on dining, does that mean I can get my Birkin now?!?!?!

@Slim: I see. I probably would still leave something out of habit, bc they do have to clear the table. But probably not much.

As for to-go orders, I always struggle with that. But unless it’s one of the Curbside to go deals where they bring it out to the car, then generally I do not tip on a takeout.

On to-go orders, I throw a dollar on the tip line since somebody had to prepare it, maybe two if its ready when I walk in, I always ask how long and time they azz, if I can walk in, say my name, and see my box, or it comes out within 2mins…I’ll tip to-go

SlimUno

I struggle on the to-go tipping deal. Sometimes I will, sometimes not. I’m thinking someone at McDonald’s had to prepare my food too but I don’t throw an extra dollar in the drive-thru window either though lol Now if the folks at the counter are extra nice & helpful, makes sure I have enough condiments, napkins, sauces etc then I feel compelled to tip them. I’m not tipping just because you asked me “what would you like?”

Pizza delivery guy: Hello, sir. That was a large Hawaiian and an order of wings? That’ll be $17.50
Jake: Nope
PDG: Excuse me, sir?
Jake: I said, nope. Not paying. Y’all took 31.2 minutes to get here so my dinner is free!
PDG: But, sir…
Jake: (grabs pizza) BYE! (slams door!)

ITL…that’s funny, I been trying to get a free pizza for years, they always get there before the timer goes off…

Cel…speaking of red bottoms, was out with the Mrs, and saw a pair for a mere $782, she looked at me with that baby, I want these look….left her standing in the shoe section…lol. I just can’t fathom it, I can get a car for that price.

Off the off topic – Fellas, what is the best way to approach a man with the “where do you see this going” convo to where you’ll be more receptive to it as opposed to the “oh here we go, sigh and eye roll reaction”?(Debate at work)

Slim – I there with you…I get it and soooo agree. I just refuse to spend that much for a pair of shoes that’s gonna do what my price range can do. So I go into a sports store that sales it all…the guy hands me a coupon for 25% off but then I get to reading the fine print and it was like, Not to include Nike, Reebox, Basketball wear, atheletic clothing, any sports gear, anything that has anything to do with any sport etc….I’m thinking, so this is a coupon for something with no name that doesn’t probably cost enough to get 25% off!! WTH…anything worth buying in there was excluded with the coupon. LOL

LOLOL..what’s left? I don’t know if anybody here remember’s Sunshine stores but my mama use to get shoes from there. There were so many of us I would be beside myself when we made the trip for a new pair….even though it was the jeepers or graveyard stompers held together by that little rubber/elastic band. I was soooo happy when mama got paid and I got a pair :) Bless her (my mama…and daddy too) heart…love her. She did what she could with eight kids.

Those are the shoes that came to mind. You get 25% off 4.99

@Slim: I’m the same way with chicken livers. The longer is stays in my mouth, the bigger it seems to get. I’ve tried them several times, but always end up spitting them out, bc I just cannot force it down my throat. UGH!
