Recipe for romance

It is quite possible to go through your entire dating life and still be romantically challenged. Romance comes naturally to some and God bless those who have a talent for it. The misguided people who think that a porn video and pizza delivery is a romantic night need a little help in the romance department. NO judgement! Well, maybe a little. How do people get away with being romantically challenged for so long?

Well, let’s help those people so they can keep the objects of their desire: what do you think is a recipe for romance?

What would you advise a person to do to score some romance points?

What is the most romantic moment you shared with someone?

Diva, no judgement from me either but you get it. Romance draws from inside. All you need is your organs and the ability to work it and to be creative. Freaky and romance are far removed. I feel sorry for those that have to have all that other stuff (i.e. toys, porno, web cams). It’s like a high constantly being chased when it’s right there between you legs and within you. Call me boring (lol), sorry you don’t get it.

My recipe is first get in reality. Porn stars are paid to “perform”, not your SO. Get off those videos. Next, honestly desire them. Share each other’s lives. Let nature lead you.

Sorry, but to be romantic you have to care about other people. Some people are natural ladies and gentlemen. Others are only women and men. If you don’t know how to, or why to, care for other people, then you will never have romance and you will never know what you are missing.

good morning. i’m not a big romantic and don’t really need a man to be. i will say that i giggled when lady said porn stars are paid to perform. some significant others may not necessarily be paid to perform but i’m sure a little material incentive doesn’t hurt. by that i mean if a man surprises his female with a phenomenal gift, piece of jewelry, etc it is very likely that she’ll be a little more amorous when it’s time to do the do. won’t say she’s “working off” that gift but…

Disco I made the statment. Showing up with jewelry over a porno tape is not to be compared. Maybe I’m easy but for the one I love, I don’t need help getting worked up.

Happy Friday!

LOL at Lily…I hear ya chica :)

Romance IMO is the art of this whole “love” thing and driven by it. IMO, the more in “deep” you are with a person, the more romance comes to surface. I agree though that it’s not so much gadgets and what not but more so a presence that’s forms between two people. IMO, it’s that thing that fuels your walk together and how you interact, the ideas and love making sessions….oh and spontaneity.

IMO, my experience with romance have been things well done but very very simple in nature. Not saying going big is not good, just for me and what REEEEEALLLLLYYYYY moves me is a man that in tune with from watching and interacting, knows what I like and what gets me “there.” From that and knowing about me he’s able to do those special things.

While it seems really really simple, my three top things:

Valentine’s Day Card from someone I’d been REALLY REALLY digging, hand delivered and placed in my mailbox…ahead of me getting home. He called and asked what time I was leaving work. The words were a perfect fit for exactly where we were (something to the fact that I was a constant reminder of what love is), a note written to me by him in calligraphy and signed “to my best friend” The card was black and white checked velvet and the inside red, with a stone in the window. I was not expecting anything because at that time we were just friends. When I dialed his number to say thank you..before I could speak, he said “you’re welcome” :)

Again, for VD…different guy, when I got to work a Spa Sydell gift envelope sitting upright on my keyboard. Getting to my job and on my desk. In exchange I’d bought him a pair of onyx cuff links which he refused because I was a single mom…no kidding. He would not accept the gift because of that. Don’t ask and go figure :)

My very first date with Spa Sydell guy, where he asked me to come over and I said I couldn’t because of all times, my sister that would normally keep my kid had a date. It rolled out of his mouth just naturally…”okay bring her, she’s apart of you right…bring the baby” Let me tell you. I was like butta at that point…lol No nothing happened but he was just sooo cool about it all. He asked before getting there what I she liked to eat. When I got arrived, there were something for me and what I like (he just knew from us going out), something for my kid and a cute little set up for her and what he liked.

Stuff like this will get me EVERYTIME. Thoughtfulness, kindness and a willingess to work it out :)

Hey there Lady!

Leggs – I bet your lunch is better than the cook’s. Even though I’m slack in this area, home cooked meals are better.

I took WillieD’s advice and bought a rotisserie chicken (well half chicken) and made a really nice salad. Raisins, nuts, pickles..the whole nine. I’m so proud of myself.

Slim – You saw all my errors, I was getting kinda worked up myself. Shoot no help needed here…just a little push :)

I didn’t just say that did I?

A stroll along the beach, hand in hand, sandals in other hand, white linen pants rolled up, bikini top on watching the sun set is romantic to me…then we’ll react the beach scene from Here To Eternity….one day I will do that.

Romance is all about knowing the person and the little things that make them feel special. My man always opens the car door for me — which for me is a little thing that makes me feel special. He always brings me a cup of coffee before he gets his own — a little thing that makes me feel special. He always let me use the shower first — a little thing that makes me feel special. He brushes his teeth in the middle of the night…you get the idea. I try to think of things for him that do the same. I cook him food and bring it to his house on long work days. I always make the bed. I make sure to thank him for all those little things every time, not in an obseqious way, but just to acknowlege the effort and let him know I appreciate it.

That’s my view of romance! :)

Lady/Slim…I’m feeling real froggy (something’s in the air besides pollen ;-) ) and wouldn’t mind a mojito myself…

On topic: We all like/want romance whether we admit it or not. I do think the level of said romance can be commensurate to how you feel about each other. I like simple things and am not hard to please. I’m sentimental so thoughtful things done with me in mind mean alot. I like candles so Mr. Bermuda buys them and will light them all over the place when I’m there…nice ambiance with a nice dinner n wine. He’s is talking about us taking a trip to Bermuda later this year and I can only imagine how romantic that’s going to be.

Now to keep in with the topic a little, do you all ever romance yourselves? Sometimes I just need to rejuvenate myself so i’ll take some ME time, maybe burn some candles, play some soothing music, take a long hot bath, shave, polish my nails, make sure I oil myself up real good, maybe do a little writing or journaling and chill the eff out with no disturbances. I believe it’s truly important because we all wear many hats on a daily basis…whether it be being a mother, co-worker, boss, wife, sister, friend, husband, best friend, brother etc…and all of that life stuff can slowly chip away at who we really are when we’re standing alone looking at ourselves in the mirror.

And with this feel good topic today, they play Jill Scott’s “He loves me”…I love that song:

You love me especially different every time
You keep me on my feet happily excited
By your cologne, your hands, your smile, your intelligence
You woo me, you court me, you tease me, you please me
You school me, give me things to think about
Invite me, you ignite me, co-write me, you love me, you like me
Incite me to chorus
