The Ex Files: Keep old mementos?
My friend Lewis recently had dinner at his lady friend’s house. He noticed a lot of racy pictures of her that she displayed in her living room. When he inquired about them, she said that her former boyfriend took the pictures and she kept them because they were so beautiful. I am not sure if Lewis was bothered more by the nearly nude images or the fact that the “guy before him” took them.
He asked me if I kept things from past relationships and I actually had to think really hard to remember. I had kept a lot! I also forgot that some of it came from an ex. It’s interesting to see how the things we hold on to from our past relationships become a part of who we are. If it was a gift from an ex, the sentimental value is there but that doesn’t mean we haven’t moved on.
How much “stuff” do you still have from your past relationships? Would you keep racy pictures, sex tapes, jewelry, etc. that would be a constant reminder about them?
Would your exes be surprised at the things you still have from the time you spent together?
Would you want the person you are dating to conceal those sentimental things?
P.S. Did you know that you can make money by selling stuff from your exes? “Never Liked it Anyway” lets you unload stuff from bad relationships. Yes. I am mad that I didn’t think of this too.

Okay, there is a close co-worker friend of mine that says she has received flowers but never had any delivered to her at work. She has told me about this very thing more than a few times and says she has dropped hints to her hubby about it. So I guess she wants to see if anything will change this year. So yesterday I texted him to sort of give him the idea, helping him with brownie points. I felt a little deflated afterwards because i’m not certain he took that the way I intended. I hope he didn’t feel offended as if he doesn’t have the ability to surprise her in this way on his own. He basically texted me back and said he already had something in the works but didn’t say what. I was like okie dokie, just wanted to throw it out there. ???
Men would you take offense to a suggestion by a friend or whatever of your lady?

You handled it right, JustMe, but yeah some men would take offense and the common response is “I have something in the works.” We’re not telling them they’re inadequate by giving the a little push, but some take it that way.

I am a label whore. I really like the finer things in life. Well, that is subjective but in this instance we’ll keep it at couture. Once you start dropping coin, the next thing you know, you have personal shoppers or reps from the respected company. Once they know you’ll spend, the cards, thanks, private showings, trunk shows for VIPs, catalogs, dinners and calls will come like a flood. I get invited to all the major events at every boutique in this city. I am also a big philanthropist so I get invited to a lot of events that way also. Seeing the people I admire offers a lot of inspiration as to how I want to look. I am a typical Southern Boy, no tattoos, piercing, dress age appropriate, manners and pride myself in being a Southern Gentleman. Maybe it was an evolution of a state of being that propelled me into couture. Whatever, after reading how rude Atlanta was rated, I know even more than ever my resolve to be a Southern Gentleman will be unwavering because of another’s actions.
If I had to say when I realized what “real” couture was…it was 2002. I was doing the Gumball3000 and noticed what the other attendees were wearing and using. Gumball3000 has changed my life in so many ways, I’ve never been the same since. I’ve done 6 Gumball3000, 3 BullRuns and many lesser car rallies. I pride myself in being a modern day Cannonballer.
FTR, I will be doing the Gumball3000 and the Gold Rush Rally (gR4) this year. gR4 will be in Atlanta this year, the streets will be closed with the attendees cars lined up! I can’t wait! Gumball is from NY to Cali.
I’d like to add that most of my friends have no idea what I wear or watch I have on. I get more compliments out of a G-Shock around here than a rare Panerai. Most of the people I hang with (local car guys) aren’t into couture like I am. The differences really come out – they’ll spit shine their cars – I try to kill mine. I polish my watch – they don’t wear one. Blah, blah, blah…
