Why is the Lunch Date Popular?

We have a guest blogger today! Brian Jenkins has a timely topic about the lunch date trend. Check it out:

In our fast-paced world, lunch dating is increasingly popular with busy professionals. The lunch date is ideal because it isn’t as complex as the dinner date – it’s more relaxed and doesn’t have the pressure associated with a dinner date. It’s much, much easier to be yourself.

An offer for a lunch date is also more likely to be accepted by the person you’re interested in than is a dinner date. Besides, since lunch dates are shorter, you only have to be on your best behavior for a little while.

The best time to ask for a lunch date is when you’re feeling a good vibe during a casual conversation. It’s easier to ask for a lunch date if the offer flows with the conversation and doesn’t take center stage.

For women who don’t have a lot of experience asking a man out on a date, the lunch date is a great way to go. Many women find the lunch date offer fairly easy and if they get a negative response, it was just a lunch invitation, no big deal!

A lunch date is less demanding, involves less pressure, and takes less time than a dinner date, but it still provides an excellent opportunity to get to know each other. The lunch date lets you mix lighthearted fun with a little romance.

Low key restaurants work well. To keep it casual, consider selecting a place where you order the food at a counter and then find a table. Select a somewhat quiet place that allows you to have a conversation without screaming. Eat at a moderately priced restaurant. Fast food is alright if you know for sure the other person enjoys it. If time is limited, schedule the lunch date to begin before or after the busy 12:00 to 1:00 rush.

The conversation is vital. Don’t discuss work because the answer to a question such as “How is it going at work?” usually receives a boring response such as “It’s alright” or “I’m usually busy” and you both end up talking about problems at work. The good vibe easily disappears.

What do you think about the lunch date? Have you ever started a relationship with one?

Brian Jenkins writes about many different topics that relate to life in the workplace for BrainTrack.com.

@Celisea ~ yep, there were some that night too, but not like the one a few years back. It was sight for sore eyes. Sometimes you had to rub your eyes to make sure that old man that walked by didnt need an oxygen tank…

Note to self: get off the dance floor before you’re really old dancing the old woman’s dance a/k/a” popping the pelvis”…oh heck no!

“I can honestly say I have not seen a man in capri pants yet.”

I have, and the therapy since then to rid me of that visual has been very expensive ;-)

not a 15 piece suit. I’ve actually seen guys in capris. one of them actually made it look kind of hot. of course they were more of a baggy cargo and he wore leather sandals with them. it worked. what’s killing me though is these men walking around in skinny jeans. heck, every woman doesn’t need to be walking around in skinny jeans.

Sidebar to Leggs re trips to the gym…That personal trainer beat my azz up last night. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER get there 30 minutes early and ask the guy what to do until your scheduled time. “Go do a full 30 minutes on the stairclimber then we will get started with the core stuff!!!”

…”WHAT?”

Randy – Do you have a fever hun? Whenever you ask that question they will almost certainly give you some cardio or ab work to do. I didn’t go to the gym yesterday and am mentally talking myself out of going today but we’ll see.

Skinny jeans on a guy are even worse when they turn around and SAG them. What’s the point of wearing pants at all?

@ Leggs and SlimNu…if that counter on that dayum stair climber was correct, I could have climbed almost to the Observation deck on the Empire State Building. Says I climbed upteen stories and yet it sure seemed to me that I was in the same spot I started…sure didn’t seem any higher ;-)

Those stair climbers are frikkin painful after about fifteen minutes or so.

Anybody on here knows….I’ve wondered what is the best machine for working out? I always resort to the treadmill. It’s doable for me and probably the easiest. I could “feel” that stairclimber the minute I started. I’m sure that would have been more effective.

You is free! Stand tall and walk with pride. Your one ally, Senorita Celisea, has been monitoring you all along (unbeknowst to any of us) and her one man petition has been honored. Go in peace and don’t do anything to rescind this and place you back under the stairs.

O/T: Speaking of all that, here’s the final dissolution for my case. Received papers last night. The 18-yr old was sentenced to 6 years for breaking in and stealing from my home. 2 years to serve and the rest on probation.

@Celisea ~ I prefer the ellipitical over the treadmill anyday. You’ll burn more calories. When I first started 2 mins nearly knocked me out. I can now do 30 mins, but that’s about it.

Leggs – Got on that too and got right back off…lol I’m like you. I’ll have to build stamina on something other than the treadmill. I think though your body gets use to the same thing so you have to switch up sometimes. I need to do something different.

Speaking of stairs when I played football in high school at Avondale, we used to have to run up and down that damn stadium for practice. When we were done and you sat down the nerves in our legs would continue jerking up and down. I think we invented the wobble way back then, even though I can’t do it.

Ain’t it funny now how rap is such the thing. Commercials, songs (everybody want’s to feature some rapper), etc. I remember when back in the day folks was running for the hills at the sign of such hoodlumism. Naturally I’m listening to music and everybody’s got some rapper featured. Then I’m thinking about the corny/cheesy AFLAC commercial just released with all rapping…lol

RandyT what made matters worse was the stadium is all concrete, and the steps are a foot and a half high.

Slimnu – I think I’m gonna try that on my next visit. I do the treadmill probably out of habit. Walking has always worked for me but I want to amp things up a bit. I think that’s gonna take me getting out of my comfort zone. I can walk the treadmill if I’m distracted…I can walk and walk and walk…easily. I burn the calories and stuff but it just seems if it’s too easy it’s probably time for a change.

I can beat the elliptical these days, and prefer it. A couple of years ago, I got to where I could run it solid at level 8 for as much as 40 minutes or so without collapsing, but not sure I could today. It takes doing it maybe four nights a week for awhile to get back to there. This can’t be the same body that could handle the abuse at Ft. Bragg all those years ago…can’t be. I was dying last night.

On the ellipitical, don’t look at the clock, but look at calories burned as an incentive to stay on longer…

I tried a Kilmanjaro trail on a treadmill (not for long exactly 37 sec) had to hurry up and back out of that one. Came back to a doable flat street level.
