Elaborate date thing of the past?

My friend Chris was lamenting about the return of the reality show The Bachelor. He is convinced that single women watch that show to live vicariously through the women who get to experience those lavish, over the top, not gonna happen in real life – dates. He says that men don’t do that anymore! Are elaborate dates really something considered old school?

I suppose our definition of elaborate may have changed as well. It doesn’t mean single people aren’t putting any effort into cooking up elaborate and wildly romantic dates. I think they are – it’s just more practical (economy!), more thoughtful, and possibly less opulent.

Guys, do you think that women expect too much elaborateness on dates? Would you ever set up an “elaborate” date with someone you really liked?

What do you consider elaborate?

What is the most elaborate date you have been on?

side pieces are for the greedy brothers. the have my cake and somebody else’s cake too type of brothers.

side pieces generally know they’re never gonna meet the mom. they stay in their role by choice. dudes aren’t being greedy; they’re just getting away with what that chick will allow.

if women would just stop sharing, dudes would be happy to have ONE and work to keep her.

“There’s a saying by Henry Fry
says there’s a girl for every guy
But I don’t think that’s entirely true,
cause that greedy brother is working on two!”

now brat – you know there’s two sides to that coin. you can say it’s the men’s fault for cheating or you can say it’s the other woman’s fault for being available. I stand by the opinion that you have to place blame on the person that’s cheating on you and not the person that they are cheating with (unless that person is a friend or family member – that’s a whole new can of worms). hence, in my particular circumstance, that would be the greedy brother.

disco your stance is interesting……Taisa is catching hell for wanting child support from her married boo. many feel she should support their baby since she can afford and shouldn’t bother him bc he is still married with two kids………All I know is two consenting adults had a baby and both should be responsible with its care………go figure….the details at this point is water under the bridge

All I know is most chicks ain’t just walking up to a dude saying “can I be your side chick?” The dudes that do it or are in the game or play that way are persistent. Like I’ve said it on here before, I’ve moved away from being friends with a couple of “circle dudes.” Those are ALWAYS the great dads, great providers, great image.

I think tasia’s primary intent – more than child support – is to be a continued thorn in wifey’s side. wifey might be able to pretend baby doesn’t exist. out of sight out of mind. but money. now that’s different. that child support money will take away from wifey’s household (her quality of life) and that she won’t be able to ignore.

And for “greedy” dudes, they’ll NEVER be happy with no, no matter the pretense. They’ll keep ole’ girl fooled and for every woman that says “no” he’ll move on to one that says yes.

Lady – Not to mention, when she had her reality show on, supposedly she called it off with him because he ‘lied’ about being married. So then we fast forward to now and BAM you’ve had this married mans baby?! Shame on her at this point. (But married or not, he needs to help take care of that kid)

not excusing dudes (or chicks, for that matter) for being polyamorous. just saying that no matter how greedy a guy may be, he can get out in search of side chicks but if he finds none willing then he gets no extra cake.

and yeah, what jake said @ 2:49.

Off to the left for a sec….Why does my manager just “give us stuff” with no direction, nothing. EVERYTHING with her is like sifting through and weeding and making it through a freaking maze. Gheesh. Almost everyday one of us or another is calling each other getting clarity. If you ask her she’s either freaking irritated or defers you to something freaking robotic, or a ton of freaking links.

It just ain’t a good plan having a baby with somebody already in a family. No way to unravel that mess. I think for my own sanity and getting on and getting over, I’d do what so many other single mothers have done, get up and get moving.

Lady – sounds good in theory but I’ll be real. If it were me with a baby by a married man whose wife likely couldn’t stand me I doubt that there’d be a plan in place that would have my baby around her. My baby would have one time to come home talking about “mommy, what’s a stank hoe” and it would be on.

Kimmie – Weellllllllllll, I ain’t really “feeling” him. We’re “chatting” still but at one point I blocked him. Right after the embellished story…lol I took it off though. I sort of felt bad because after a couple of days, I think he realized and I got a text like “hey you blocked me?” He didn’t say that per se but that was ringing in the tone of his text. I took it off and we’ve talked but he’s taking a lower number…lol Funny thing, I went to the gym, had gone to this one a couple of times not know THIS was the gym where he’s a member (we talked about him working out though). I don’t have a membership but I pay when I go in. Anyway, I walk up one Saturday and this dude lets me in and asks me to sit tight until he got someone that could take my money while scolding me for not joining (just being nice), all the while telling “someone” about this women that pays as she goes rather than a membership. Well well well, he comes back and says okay cool, come on back and while I’m walking back head down, finding my station (music), he’s saying “man this is who I’m talking about”, low and behold it’s him. I was embarrassed (cause he was blocked at that time). I spoke and he tried to do a bit of chatter but I plugged in my ear piece. After that it was “game on”…he acted as if he had freading A.D.D….he was showing out and hopping from bench to machine and machine to bench and cutting his eyes at me. I thought then, seriousy…RETARD…A.D.D…LOL

I dunno, that embellished convo left something there undesirable for me. When I talk to him that’s all I hear now…EMBELISHMENT

To disco’s 2:57 – Kid’s father new woman said she wanted to “bond” with my kid (think my kid was like 6ish), yep told me that. Po thang she didn’t know. I was looking at her like it must be the crack because I know she wasn’t feeling me at all. Well not long after that, he came over one day to visit. Obviously from her reaction when she “found him” as she sent her kid to knock on the door and asked if so and so was there (guess he got away unbeknownst to her). I told him his woman was outside. As soon as he stepped outside she went ballistic!! She was yelling and cussing. I said and to think you asked about bonding with my child. I told her and him, we live in peace, both of y’all are clowns. Get the hell on and stay gone.

Sorry but I went there that day. Just saying. A woman that can’t stand or feel threatened by you will not likely have the best of intentions for or towards your child.
