Is your date boring?

Have you ever been out on a date and it was a complete snorefest? Did you find yourself zoning out or your mind wandering off somewhere else? Is it a bad sign that your date is a boring person?

I don’t know how much “excitement” a person should bring to your life -but I definitely would not want to be someone who I found boring. I was watching Downton Abbey last night and one of the characters said: “A woman can’t love a man if she thinks he is boring” and I agree..for the most part.

While I don’t want boring and dull – I don’t know if I would mesh well with the wrong kind of excitement. I’m pretty tame, so exciting to me would be a guy who likes to trekked across the world and experience interesting things. Or someone who wants to change the world and contribute something positive. I’m a “reasonable” square that way, I guess?

What sort of exciting things would you like to see in a potential match?

Do you think you are boring? Is your conversation a little flat? What do you do to avoid that?

randy – I’m the square with no electronics in my bedroom. well I do have a lamp but no tv, radio, alarm clock. nothing. I do all my tv watching in the living room or guest bedroom. a lot of folks don’t get it. over the years I’ve had guys offer to buy me a tv. I guess they think I’m deprived or something.

Thatta girl, Kimmie! I knew my Dawg would chime in. :)

@Randy: And a good disguise it is. If the SEC (the other one!) catches you in any unsavory activity, you’ll be all set in your prison orange. Bwahahaha. Seriously, Randy, I know you love UT, but even a die-hard Vol can’t like that orange, can he?!?!?

@RandyT..I can testify to that last statement…the older I get the more I change…and I am digging the changes.

Alright folks I have a end of the day question..Let me state first this is not my question..I already gave my advice

A sisterfriend wants to know how to gracefully tell a dude she no longer wants to see him. Reasons: He is older by 11 years and is pretty set in his ways, (she likes dogs..he doesn’t) and she has met a guy younger than her..but she has more in common with him. So she wants to tell Ole dude..see ya..wouldn’t wanna be ya. Without being mean or bring up she has met New Boo. I told her to just say: “While I enjoy your company Ole dude, I feel we are not a good a match.” and leave it at that..so what say you jury? How can she give Ole Dude the brush off without a gulit?

@ disco…during the holidays, I had the TV on mostly for the noise when an episode of the Doctors came on. He was advocating that all electronics should be out of the bedroom. You are on the cutting edge, not behind the curve.

I have one, but it’s only on 1) if I’m sick and home for the day or 2) for traffic/weather reports while I’m getting ready in the morning. My doc says having the TV on at interferes with getting a good night’s sleep.

Truthfully ITL, I wouldn’t be caught dead in it in the years I lived in Knoxville, orange doesn’t look good on anything but maybe a Hooter’s girl…and only then in really limited doses. But when I came to ATL, I noticed how easy, and somehow important, it was to pizz off GA fans. Put on orange, or have Rocky Top playing in the background and you won’t have to worry about being “bored” too long. I never do like for things to get too peaceful ;-)

the last time I had a tv in my bedroom is when I was a teenager still in my mother’s house. my entire adulthood I’ve done without one in my bedroom. heck, I just need dark and quiet when I sleep. wish I could do something about the little green light in the smoke detector in my room. it’s distracting.

kym – your friend is thinking too much. just end it if she’s going to end it. she can be straight up and have one of the talks. it’s not you, it’s me. this isn’t working. I need my space. blah blah blah. heck, she can even do the fade away. if she’s checked out she’s checked out. still, I say poor old dude. hope the new youngster doesn’t disappoint.

funny leggs. sleeping isn’t the problem – it’s the time leading up to sleep. you’d think it was a floodlight instead of one teeny tiny little dot of light. I also complain about the noise of the refrigerator humming when the house is quiet. and seems like to me, they would have made a quieter furnace by now.

kym – I got caught up in the snuggie just the other day. it didn’t help that my son was home and witnessed the entanglement.

Kym – Your friend is overthinking it. How would she break up with him if New had not shown up? Because Old was just a placeholder. His age doesn’t have much to do with it either. They just had nothing in common. So New dude or not, they would have broken up either way. Old deserves someone that appreciates him and what he has to offer. It’s plenty folks out there that are not into dogs. I’m an example. I also don’t like cats either, but hubby had two. Wasn’t a dealbreaker though.

Speaking of inconvenient, what’s that new thing they have out now? It’s like onesie pajamas for adults? Forever Lazy or something like that? When they say, “it’s perfect for a tailgate” on the commercial and show the guy wearing one, I crack up every time. I would give somebody 2 seconds in that thing at a tailgate before someone locked them in the porta-potty.

Disco, I spend more time in Marriotts than in my own bed. No good way to avoid the distractions. Although I am one of those who is such a light sleeper, that the one thing that will wake me up fastest, or keep me from going to sleep is total silence. I need white noise, a fan or two or three, maybe…and if my breath doesn’t condense in the morning (winteror summer) it is too warm for me.

Leggs

Definitely can’t sleep with the tv on!

I use the alarm on my cell to wake me up (although I usually open my eyes a good 5 mins before it goes off). My internal clock is pretty accurate, I just couldn’t honestly rely on it to get to work on time.

And, how many of you need a loud alarm to get up…My number is 2. That’s loud enough for me to hear. Can’t do that loud stuff first thing in the morning. I nice hummmmm will wake me.

ITL – and I don’t even use the arms. I just use it like a throw. i think my feet/ankles were twisted up some kind of way. a funny though – once I was a bit chilly and tucked my arms into my sweatshirt. anyway, got up to go upstairs and didn’t untuck my arms. messed around and tripped on the stairs and stumbled. of course, I had no arms to catch myself. my stairwell curves at the top and bottom so I fell right into the wall. while I had no witnesses to that I had to laugh at myself and I told everybody.

kimmie – I know people who sleep with the tv on. I can’t do it. you heard me say I get annoyed because I can hear the refrigerator humming. don’t get me started on sharing space with a snorer or “loud breather”. whew.

Re alarm clocks. I have one for backup but almost always awaken five minutes before the time is set on it. Even if it is a change from the day before, or I have to get up earlier, I will wakeup. I have an automatic clock sort of built in. That is what creeps me out about anaesthesia. There is no “time sense”. I am awake and then i am awake…nothing in between. I’ve been under a number of times and that always fascinates me because I always have a times sense when I am sleeping, but nothing with being under. Truthfully, that creeped me out about MJ. Anaesthesia is not sleep, just isn’t.

LOL @ ITL

For us light sleepers, it can be a pain in the buttocks to cohabitate with a really heavy sleeper. The alarm goes off for the other and the light sleeper is laying there thinking “will you turn that dayum thing offfff, don’t hit that dayum snooze, get your azz out of the bed so I can go back to sleep”. And then they hit the snooze four or five times and that alarm goes off every five minutes for an hour. Got a few of those t-shirts ;-)

I hate when the internal clock goes off a whole hour earlier and you’re left there trying to force yourself back to sleep. I normally use my cell phone but it isn’t loud. Unless I’ve had a crazy night of drinking, i’m easy to wake. ;-)

Bringing things to topic since I didn’t get a chance to earlier:

Boring is relative as others who spoke on the topic said. Whatever your niche or style of dating or entertainment is what one should probably seek to avoid boredom. Sometimes laid back, sometimes excitement, sometimes truly boring by other’s standards, but essentially getting someone with “like” interests will probably be the ying to your yang.
