Is your date boring?

Have you ever been out on a date and it was a complete snorefest? Did you find yourself zoning out or your mind wandering off somewhere else? Is it a bad sign that your date is a boring person?

I don’t know how much “excitement” a person should bring to your life -but I definitely would not want to be someone who I found boring. I was watching Downton Abbey last night and one of the characters said: “A woman can’t love a man if she thinks he is boring” and I agree..for the most part.

While I don’t want boring and dull – I don’t know if I would mesh well with the wrong kind of excitement. I’m pretty tame, so exciting to me would be a guy who likes to trekked across the world and experience interesting things. Or someone who wants to change the world and contribute something positive. I’m a “reasonable” square that way, I guess?

What sort of exciting things would you like to see in a potential match?

Do you think you are boring? Is your conversation a little flat? What do you do to avoid that?

@GracieL

I’d disagree *slightly*

Your spouse should be interested in the details of your day, and your job, so that when you get upset that Lumberg wants his TPS reports – s/he knows: 1)who Lumberg is, 2)what a TPS report is/does/supposed to do, and 3)why you are responsible for the TPS report.

That way, your partner can truly share in the frustration.

Likewise, you partner needs to understand the office dynamics so when Laura “be on that bullisht” about ‘whatever’, they can likewise share in the anguish beyond “really?”, “you don’t say”, “cufk that itchb”.

In related news, the Kevin Hart special I spent $20 to see is going to be on Comedy Central in a few days….daggumit

I’m interested in kinds of music and literature that many people could find boring. When and if I date, I often wonder if I am boring the other person by talking about these things, or sounding pretentious. I don’t want to alienate the women I date, but I don’t like to pretend that I enjoy things that I don’t really care about either.
And I don’t want to be the only one trying to keep up the conversation. I used to date someone who thought she was boring, so she expected me to keep things interesting.

Whew….Celisea dodged a freaking bullet today. Had my 1:1 (first this year and who freaking does that beside my manager), where I just saw at 9:13 this morning a task she asked me to do and have to her by 8 a.m. Well given that she sent to me while on vacay, I totally missed it. Was just reading through her emails this morning since I haven’t really been plugged in officially. Well I exported a spread sheet from a system we have, deleted some of the columns I didn’t need, kept the ones that would be useful, combined with a document (related) that I’d worked on a few months back and vwalla!!! I did though have to ask if I could send at 2:00…she said NO….11:00…SHAME ON ME!!

Just got off the call, she said she thought it was a pretty good start for this transitioning projecting that we’re doing and concise and pinpointed the items we’re needing :) Can you say wiping sweat from the brow.

I gotta stop blogging so much if Imma be missing stuff….for real

Not sure if you all had heard about the 36 year old woman that’s been missing from her Buckhead condo since 12/27…well there are many folks I know that knew her. I even had a close friend who lives in the same neighborhood as her parents…they just found the chicks car but she is still missing.

Even though I didn’t know her personally, it feels closer to home because her parents live not too far from my job. I’m sure the guy that saw her last (which they got in an argument) has a lot to do with it.

What’s funny is – back when I was blogging heavy – people would see the blog on my screen and look disgusted.

But I finished my work, usually ahead of schedule, so after a while they left me alone; save for “are we not giving you enough to do?” to wit my reply was always “nope” (with the slow turn back to the computer).

Said that to say, distractions and skill are not mutually exclusive Cel; keep up the good work.

Afternoon Folks!

Do I think I am boring? Hmm..I guess it depends on who I am with. I like to think that I am pretty freaking interesting once you get to know me. The only thing I would like to see that is exciting in a mate is a sense of humor please, and the desire to try new and different things. The world is a huge place and you should work to discover something new about yourself each and everyday..(okay that sounded a bit shirley temple like) but you get the idea.

Dan (Superior),

You’re right, of course, that your partner should know who Lumburgh is and how much you loathe those darned TPS reports. But if that’s what you’re talking about on a date, it’s boring! I like to date awhile before I reach partner status. Let’s have some fun! Rambling off boring work details on autopilot is married behavior. (Snoozerville!) Hit the highlights if there were any, but I just spent a full week working too, and would not presume to bore my date with such minutia.

Kym,

Charming is a common trait among sociopaths. Having learned much more than I wanted to about such people, I must echo Randy’s advice (be really careful!), and tell everyone: If the little voice inside you whispers that something doesn’t feel quite right, listen to it. Ignoring your gut instinct in favor of the head’s rationalizations is always a mistake.

yeah Kym…hard to tell the good guys from the bad. They were really lucky to catch Bundy…and few people will shed a tear for his fate. Just wish it had been sooner. Some people lack the fundemental quality that makes someone a human being…a soul or a conscience. Never once have I heard of trying to rehabilitate a rabid animal…you just put them down for the wellfare of the rest of society.

One last and I gotta go for real:

I was watching last week “Cold Case” I think it was and this dude killed 17 prostitutes in all. I think around number 6 or 7, he dumb behind sent a letter to the police pretty much smirking and pointing them to yet another body. While there were no prints or anything traceable, the big dummy dropped a map from Expedia. Before sending the letter the case had gone quiet for about 8 months and nothing, no evidence left on the first set of women. Well after sending the letter and the map from Expedia, there were also 2 more deaths, this time with semen. Anyway, detectives still not connecting, had Expedia to pull the IP addys and yes, his was in the bunch. Well they narrowed down who they’d visit and I can’t remember how he was selected but anyway they paid him a visit. This dude had a really nice home and it was immaculate. So they go in and when they get there dude starts acting weird. They tell him more detectives are on the way with a search warrant and he (ahead of the search) says, “take me to jail.” They ask whatever for and he wouldn’t say but just kept demanding so, they followed his wishes. While on the way there, he changes his mind and says for them to go somewhere else and said he would take them to what they’d been searching for. Anyway he ends up going to jail. They asked him if anything he wanted and he asked for a soda. Once finished, they had the DNA checked from the soda can and BAM a match to the semen from the last two victims. Anyway, in the meantime, they’re searching his home and downstairs, it was nothing like upstairs. Blood splashed on the walls and ceiling and tons of video tapes. He taped every murder from start to finish of those prostitutes murdered…brutal. He made them apologize (sort of like any last words) and killed them. SICK JOKER. But I just believe things have a way of working out. How you gonna send a letter getting to dang smart for your ownself and think everthing is iron clad. You send it, it can be traced.

Alright…that’s my tidbit for today.

Randy,

Experts say the number is 1 in 25, or 4% of the population, that lack conscience or the capacity to empathize or care what another is feeling. They’re not all serial killers, but they do have common traits in that they manipulate others to get what they want, with no concern for what harm comes to others as a result. They might not be lawbreakers because they don’t want to go to prison, but they still wreak havoc and misery on the lives they touch. Most politicians and the majority of corporate CEOs are sociopaths, I believe.

Kym

Yeah I am big on reading true crime..but I think the BTK killer was the sickest of all..IMO. He killed a woman put her kids in the closet with toys, while he killed and tortured their mother. Dude was a predator for decades. Sent letters to the police and media, and then took a break, come to find out he was a Deacon of the church, Scout leader, Family man. Once caught his open court confession was just cold. Calm as you please told how he killed all those women. I think they are studying him now.

Lady~,

A lack of conscience is an asset in the business and political arenas. People for whom the feelings or well-being of others is a complete non-issue (unless it somehow affects them too) are the ones that truly “get it done.” Likewise, they also make good surgeons and lawyers, as emotions do not get in the way of the tasks necessary to succeed, where success = a specific desired outcome. Best to avoid personal relationships with them, though.

sick or not – I think most folks are infatuated with serial killers on some level. the Cleveland plain dealer recently ran a series on the women of imperial avenue (Anthony sowell’s victims). it was good and I’m hoping some author picks it up.
