Is your date boring?

Have you ever been out on a date and it was a complete snorefest? Did you find yourself zoning out or your mind wandering off somewhere else? Is it a bad sign that your date is a boring person?

I don’t know how much “excitement” a person should bring to your life -but I definitely would not want to be someone who I found boring. I was watching Downton Abbey last night and one of the characters said: “A woman can’t love a man if she thinks he is boring” and I agree..for the most part.

While I don’t want boring and dull – I don’t know if I would mesh well with the wrong kind of excitement. I’m pretty tame, so exciting to me would be a guy who likes to trekked across the world and experience interesting things. Or someone who wants to change the world and contribute something positive. I’m a “reasonable” square that way, I guess?

What sort of exciting things would you like to see in a potential match?

Do you think you are boring? Is your conversation a little flat? What do you do to avoid that?

Leggs – I had an older guy telling me just this week that had ‘they’ not come to get some slaves and bring them back here to the US that ‘we’ would not have such the good lives we have now & basically ‘they’ did ‘us’ a favor.

leggs – life on the color line is different. the author is alive now. his father was biracial but passing and his mother was white. the kids thought they were white until the parents split and the father took them to live with his black mother in gary Indiana. it was straight culture shock for them but it’s a great book. I have middle passage on my bookshelf too.

ITL – I have read wench. I enjoyed it.

Leggs/Slim – I’ve heard that sentiment before. Folks trying to make themselves feel better for slavery.

Then he said that we were going to miss ‘them’ when they’re gone. By “them”, he meant older white guys…assuming wealthy. I was not sure exactly what he meant by that because he would not state why. I don’t know if he meant that ‘they’ are paying the most taxes, supporting the less fortunate (taxes for ‘welfare’) or what. I’m like, where the hell are ‘yall’ going? You trying to tell me white men are endangered? lol I said, if that’s the case, then who will be the next majority and he said it was going to be the Hispanics

Naw it ain’t.

Used sparingly/appropriately, “hogwash” and “shenanigans” serve a valuable purpose.

@Meeelo

Thanks

But, how many of you ladies would agree or disagree with anything on this list:

Amazon is the best retailer out there, any problems, keep what you bought *and* they send you your money back.

Thanks ITL. I got so caught up in the convenience of checking out ebooks from the library that I got a bit lazy about making the journey there for actual books. I just ordered (at the library) several books including little bee. also titles by mary Monroe, Daniel black and Bernice mcfadden. good thing for me I keep a running list of books I want to read.

I do that, too! As a matter of fact, the library called yesterday to say that a book I reserved is available. I’m not sure I’m going to start it now, though; I’m still reading “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

Have you read “The Upper Room?” I read a review and excerpt, and have had it on my to-read list since.

Been lurking and reading y’all for awhile on my lunch break and blogville is a fun place to visit. Y’all have a lot of good insight and are good for lots of laughs. Have really enjoyed reading you. Just popped in to give a quick opinion. I think if you have chemistry with someone boring is non existant. On the other hand if you don’t have chemistry, everything else is non existant.
BTW

celisea/dan – I didn’t read the entire list. probably the first 10 and I was already thinking about daddy’s girls and momma’s boys.

Downloading low-level details of your work day to your date, the way you used to do to your spouse every night, is a real snoozer. I’ve noticed this trend among the newly single who are used to married life where meeting summaries, sales projections, etc. might have been mildly pertinent. It’s part of sharing in a long-term partnership, but unless the “news” is truly exciting (we got robbed today!) or meaningful (we’re about to be sold), then find something else to discuss!
