Single? You have the right to be jolly!

Hello single people out there! I know this is official couples season. It’s the time of year when people are getting engaged, taking vacations together, and behaving like lovesick teens. It’s sweet! It’s endearing. It’s also …absolutely annoying to see at times.

Don’t get me wrong, I love romance and watching people fall in love. What I don’t like is getting the pity looks, sympathetic stares, and “your time will come” spiels from the smug and coupled up. Just because it is couples season doesn’t mean I have to be depressed about not being in a relationship! I have the right to be jolly!

If you are determined to make it through the next couple of weeks, you are going to need a game plan. Where will you go? What will you do? Where can you go to avoid the holiday madness?

Do you ever feel down about being single this time of year?

If you are single right now, how do you maintain your holiday cheer?

What is the best part of being unattached during the holidays?

kimmie – same thing about skating parties. growing up my family hit the skating rink regularly. almost every Saturday. still it was always exciting when those class skating trips came up.

slim – I hated school pizza and they served it every single week. the boys would start clamoring early in the day trying to be the one who I gave my pizza to.

disco – Skating parties – yay!!! Our elementary school’s PTA used to sponsor skaing parties like once a month during the school year when I was growing up! My kid’s school sponsors a few skate nights and the kids freak out!

The one crazy school cafeteria food I used to look forward to was the chicken pot pie….oh wait, I use to also like the grilled cheese and vegetable soup combo ;-)

I despise PDAs no matter what time of year. I see more disruption of family units this time of year than the rest. If you’re young enough and haven’t been jaded by loved ones or family, maybe it is fun to celebrate a Pagan holiday. I take great delight in avoiding all family during the holidays.

As far as pity looks or feeling left out…HA! I’m laughing at everyone else – stretching their credit, buying things they can’t afford, arguments, whining kids, pretending, fighting for gifts, last minute shoppers, Christians celebrating a Pagan holiday all with a helping of domestic violence – for falling into the biggest marketing scheme by Capitalists.

I shop when it’s convenient to take advantage of sales but for the most part where I shop sales don’t exist. I’ll make it through this Pagan Holiday by doing what I always do…whatever the f*(k I want.

I plan on lots of debauchery, avoiding my family as much as possible, going to my mountain house to snowboard, buying things (I always do that though) and driving my cars.

If you read my post, do I really have to explain why I’m happy during this time of year? It’s great being single…

Slim – That soup did used to be good. Forgot about the pot pie, but it was good too! Our school could fry some good chicken and had a good lemon icebox pie.

Afternoon All,

I have nothing On Topic. I loved being single during the Holidays because it wasn’t about being booed up or anything like that. i am huge on Family and that was just the icing on the cake.

A woman was found unresponsive at an abandoned house a few streets over from my house this morning. She died at the hospital. Police are investigating.

Coincidentally, I first found out from a guy on the train this morning. Seems as if he knows someone who is familiar with her. Said that she was just seen hanging out at the park across the street from the train station. I got the impression that she had crackhead tendencies. I wonder if it was the lady I saw walking barefoot yesterday morning in 40 degree weather.

I don’t want to tell TheDude because I don’t want him to suggest that I stop running in the neighborhood in the mornings. (Usually if I don’t tell him this kind of stuff, he would never find out.)

Lady, mountain houses can be had for 20 cents on the dollar right now. I got 3 acres on a creek and a 1700 sq. ft. Cabin for less that 50K. It’s my favorite purchase of the year.

Nope. I just take GiGi on the shorter runs.

But..there really is a difference between running MLK and into downtown by the Dome and Centennial Park and Phillips Arena, down Peachtree. These areas tend to always have people around and are fairly well lit as opposed to the streets that are INside the neighborhood a few streets over.

HST – I didn’t mention HST in my post. Funny though, when I read yours, that’s the first thing I thought of, the Grinch. The holidays are not for everyone, though. Do what makes you happy. That’s what makes this free country of ours so great!

SexyCool, I wouldn’t worry to much, I’d imagine that you’d out run a criminal anyway. Pepper Spray would be useful for deterring a criminal or a wayward dog. It’s also easy to hold in hand while jogging and conceal.

Thanks, HST. I’m not worried. I just don’t want HIM to be worried. He tends to be kinda protective like that. (lol)

And speaking of running, I’m into the second week of my half mary training. For the next thirteen weeks, my training runs will each be four miles or longer.

I was really referring to the on-line. I get the paper everyday and straight to recycle it goes. I have tried to unsubscribe but my cable subscription has it built in. I’ve come to the conclusion that they do it to keep up advertising revenue.

Gotcha. He doesn’t spend that much time online. He gets most of his news from me. We try to make it a point to sit down and watch the news at least a couple of times a week and try to check out Meet the Press after church on Sundays, but that’s about it.

kimmie – no dress shopping yet. Thanks to my gluttony on the cruise, I am refusing to get on the scale until I have had 21 days straight of “corrective behavior” – (lol). Dress shopping scheduled for early January.

Four runs. Two cross training sessions. One rest day. Weekday runs will be minimum four miles. Some easy, some tempo, some recovery. Long runs on Saturdays. But plan on adjusting as necessary to avoid overtraining and set myself up for injury.

Update…Demi did not leave a message while I was out to lunch.

@ SlimNu, I’ve been working with a personal trainer for about three weeks now. There is a defintie gap between when I would be tempted to stop, and his. I’ve been taking it slow to offset the bad habits of travel for the last three years, so trying to build up gradually again. Very intimidating though when some dude walks up in front of me, takes a 60 pound dumbell in each hand and starts doing curls with both like they are made of paper. I wasn’t that good when I was good.

Do want to tone a bunch before pool season, and was told today I might have to go out to Orange County Cali and put out a ‘fire’ brewing there. Little different from Northern England and would feel better if I could easily see my toes and belt again.

The bracelets I made for my team were a big hit. I took into account their personalities and the colors they liked. I seemed to be on point with everyone.
