Single? You have the right to be jolly!
Hello single people out there! I know this is official couples season. It’s the time of year when people are getting engaged, taking vacations together, and behaving like lovesick teens. It’s sweet! It’s endearing. It’s also …absolutely annoying to see at times.
Don’t get me wrong, I love romance and watching people fall in love. What I don’t like is getting the pity looks, sympathetic stares, and “your time will come” spiels from the smug and coupled up. Just because it is couples season doesn’t mean I have to be depressed about not being in a relationship! I have the right to be jolly!
If you are determined to make it through the next couple of weeks, you are going to need a game plan. Where will you go? What will you do? Where can you go to avoid the holiday madness?

Dreams/Celisea – Some people put too much pressure on themselves to be all Hallmark-card coupled-up and such around the holidays. The holidays are not supposed to be centered around that. It can be the icing, but not the whole cake.
Plus, I mentioned on here before, having a SO in your life for special times, vacations and such, is only good if things are going well with the 2 of you, at least IMO. I remember taking a bf on a family vacation with me and being miserable. I would have had a much better time leaving him at home and just hanging with my family. Same with the holidays. Being coupled up just to say you got somebody can be more trouble than it’s worth.

O/T ~ had to leave my desk and run to the beauty supply store. I inadvertently left my lipstick on bathroom counter (lol). Love this job. We can get up and go just about anytime we want! I bought the exact same lipstick only at this store it’s .70 more! Well, when in a pinch sometimes those extra pennies mean absolutely nothing (lol).

thar’s the general consensus. I’m not a Falcon fan (Raiders) nor a Ryan hater. If you say that in this town you are a Ryan hater. Go figure. Anyway, there is no upside to Ryan. What you have now, that’s it.

In thinking about New Years…I have to say that it is what we all make it to be. One can choose to be with family, with friends (assuming one has friends), or be alone. I’ve done all three and being alone watching Dick Clark is a real drag…but a drag that is SELF-INFLICTED.
Okay, maybe you didn’t get 50 invitations by 50 hotties (gender neutral), then start making backup plans right dayum now…and if possible make them with someone (same sex) that will probably be alone too so you aren’t alone. Being alone is a choice and not forced on anyone in the ATL…and usually the wrong one on New Years. Get on line and see what venues have something going…and make those backup plans.

Matty Ice is just fine, you see how effective we are when they go no huddle and he is making calls at the line…he is not the problem..the stats don’t lie, he has played well from day one…he is a Vicktim.

Hey Celly Cel, I’m good. I agree with you and kimmie. If your holidays aren’t any good without a SO, then what are you saying about your family and friends? Do they contribute nothing good? I personally think life is great. I’ve had my share of obstacles, but the blessings far outweigh the trials, and I’m happy as can be about that. A fantastic woman could sure add to that, but no way the absence of one can take away from it.

I accidentally wandered in to the bar in Georgetown a couple of years ago where St. Elmos’s Fire was filmed…A bunch of promising new actors got a boost with that movie.

Leggs – I wouldn’t think it’s just a southern thing. I just think, like everything else, they’ve gone up quite a bit since we were high school seniors. I remember them covering cap & gown and other expenses and they were not much. One of my friends, though, has a senior and what she told me blew me away. Though I know a big part of her expenses are going to her son’s class ring. That’s an expense that can be controlled, but she’s over-the-top and wants him to have major bling.
