What happened to chivalry?

There is this perception that women today are treated with less chivalry. I always consider chivalry another form of kindness. I am optimistic and a bit of a romantic, so I don’t like the idea that women are treated with less kindness in today’s society.

When I am on Marta, I still see men giving up their seats to women and children. I still notice men taking up for their women if they notice any signs of disrespect. So when people ask what happened to chivalry, I like to answer with another question: What happened to kindness?

Do you believe that we are generally less kind to one another? If women are treated with less chivalry, do you think men are less appreciated?

How do you define chivalry? Do you think it is necessary and needed?

NeNe might be able to afford sponsorships if enough dumbasses buy that $150 t-shirt she is selling.

I watch the Braxton’s show as proof that the Men In Black premise of “aliens among us” is very real.

kimmie – I’d say you got jokes but I guess it’s just that you don’t know me. I don’t watch the reality shows but I’m vaguely familiar with who ne ne is. problem with her as a sponsor is I wouldn’t respect her. I’d try to act right but it wouldn’t be a good look for me to be fighting my sponsor. I’ll never get out of the program. naw… I need ruby dee, toni Morrison, maya angelou or somebody to keep me in check.

funny. i didn’t realize i still had an active imagination.

I think I’ll take Ms. Patti LaBelle as my sponsor. Next time someone says hello to me in the elevator, I’ll throw a bottle of water on them and tell them to make their bratty kid behave.

there have been some good cracks on here today. y’all are funny.

auntie just did a few months in county for PV (she cut her ankle monitor off). she is now out on work release.

funny about the thanksgiving thing because my mother and siblings went to visit my uncle in jail once and when they had to empty pockets/purses they had a small arsenal of knives, straight razors and mace. fond memory – my mom gave me my first box cutter when I started junior high school. about a year ago my brother came to visit and he was riding with me and attempting to open a new cd. he asked where my knife was. when I replied that I didn’t have a knife in my car he side eyed me and told me I was getting soft.

@Disco..I love it..my family not quite that hard..with the knives and such..but we have quite a few light-fingered, hustler in the bunch..my uncle once stole lawn mowers from the local hardware store and sold them to everyone in the town. And I do believe we had our own family cells down on Rice Street and over there at Dekalb County..but I digress.

kym – not that you said y’all got your own cell block. that’s too much. my first “real” adult job was working at the county jail. I didn’t work that job long for obvious reasons. inmates were telling me they used to change my diaper (possibly true, they were my mother’s friends) or asking me to tell so and so this that and the other when I see them. heck I had family, friends, exes all up and through. nope. that job wasn’t going to work for me.

sniffer – I’m quite real with mine. no point in doing a little something for yourself and then trying to get brand new and forget where you came from. I know who I am and I’m cool with me.

about a year ago my brother came to visit and he was riding with me and attempting to open a new cd. he asked where my knife was.

My brother and I are both like that….he keeps a knife on his person at all times and I keep blades of several types strategically placed on my person, in my car and around my house just in case I gotta bust somebody down to the white meat.

At my old job my lab team would sometimes ask me for my box cutter to open packages n such when they couldn’t find the one that belonged to the company….don’t judge me. A woman’s gotta protect herself..

Exactly Leggs…I have a bat right under my bed. It’s a miniature Braves bat with some tape around the neck for grip…it works. I went to a strip club once and for whatever reason didn’t think they were gonna search my purse…when security said I have to check your bag m’aam I let him look and when he found it, he looked at me like  Of course he said we gone have to take that…I said cool I have several more…and left him watch me walk away still looking like

see… I didn’t happen to have a knife in my car but there was one in my purse (my purse was in the trunk). I have a little miniature souvenir baseball bat in the pocket of my car door for head busting. I do have knives throughout the house (got that from my grandma) and I just got hip to hornet spray as a weapon. got that little tip from a radio call in show. apparently it has a trigger nozzle and sprays like 20 feet. I’ve made a mental note to get some. just got my gun purchase permit and thinking I’m going to get myself one for Christmas. I was looking at kel-tecs but who knew there were so many options when gun shopping.

I’ve wanted one for years but my family REALLY doesn’t want me to get one because they feel I don’t have the proper attitude for one….I agree and that’s why I haven’t gotten one. Buuut I’ve got a birthday coming next month sooo we’ll see.
