If you plan on going out on a date this weekend or attending a party, perhaps you should consider having a “dry” weekend. Some people handle their alcohol with no problem. They know their limitations, they know what to steer clear of and what is safe. Unfortunately, some people are oblivious to their tolerance level and they pick the wrong time to get the hard lesson: on a first date.
I have been out with someone who got sloppy drunk and as fine as he was to look at, after the 4th drink he got really unattractive. He was the type to become obnoxious and loud when he had a couple of drinks in him. Although it was eye opening, I wonder if it was better to learn this sooner or later?
When you go out with friends, do you have a couple of drinks socially? Do you avoid drinking on dates?
Have you ever been on a date with someone who had too much to drink and their personality changed for the worse?
P.S. What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, be safe!

Hmmm. I’ve been on both sides of this…moderately. Dumb!!! There were a couple of times I had too much wine on a first date and frankly became too aggressive (not a lot, but should have restrained myself to a minor good night kiss). Also, I have been with women who I met for lunch and frankly got scared away when they ordered drinks in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. It made me wonder if it were the evening what would they order.
As the trite but VERY TRUE expression goes…”You never get a second chance to make a first impression”. Reign it in or risk not having a second chance.

Good Morning All,,
I am a socially drinker..so a couple of drinks and I am done. I have control issues so the idea of being sloppy drunk and waking up not knowing what happen the night before..nawww not for me.
Now I have dated guys who got all kinds of liquid courage when they got on the whiskey..and you are right Wisey..that is not attractive at all.
My plans for the weekend..I’m gonna get my FOOTBALL on. I’m gonna get my grocery shopping on I’m gonna get my sleeping on..all weekend long.

Good morning! Hey Randyt it’s 5 o’clock somewhere
For me, I don’t tend to drink on the first date unless I know it’s going to be a doozer so I say what the heck and order me something strong to muster me thru the date. I’ve been on a date where the guy showed up drunk! I’ve been on a date where the guy got wasted and tried to get me wasted by pushing drinks on me while I kept telling him no thank you. Dude was determined to get me wasted so I can join him on his pitty party of being a scorned ex. He was so drunk, if I put a glass next to him I would have a margarita, his pores oozed likka. I hope he made it home that night, I hadn’t heard from him since. Yep, I’ve had my share of drunk dates and shall I say weed date too. I am too happy that my current doesn’t drink, what a relief!
when I’m out with friends I’m more worried about getting pulled over, so I make sure I have one drink of whatever and nurse it until I leave.
No plans for the w/e. I just want to get some zzzz and watch my fav sitcoms.

First date or not, drinking to the point of stupidity is a bad idea, it shows a lack of maturity and a lack of self control. The people that get that wasted are the same people that pick fights at bars.
Fighting for guys in public is no different than chicks crying in public, you didn’t get your way, so you are going to make a big deal about it and pick a fight or start crying. GROW UP!!!!

Good morning.
Although it was eye opening, I wonder if it was better to learn this sooner or later? – I’ll lean toward it was good to see this right out the gate.
When you go out with friends, do you have a couple of drinks socially? – Yep
Do you avoid drinking on dates? – Nope. But I will only have about two. I’m fully aware of my tolerance level and know what to avoid (Vodka).
Have you ever been on a date with someone who had too much to drink and their personality changed for the worse? – Can’t say I ever have.
In your case, WD, he could have been very nervous which can also heighten the affects of alcohol on a person.
I have a dinner date this evening. He said he would call, let’s see if that actually happens.

Morning all. Been out of pocket as of late. Had surgery at the VA Medical Center here in Birmingham. Recuperating and progressing well. Been drunk only once. My, then, girlfriend, now, wife, and I were out with friends and I had too many. Never happened again. I was serving in the Navy and stationed in the Philippines at the time. I don’t drink. Not for religious reasons or anything like that, I just don’t like the taste of the stuff. Beer, wine, rum & coke….Yuck!

Let’s see do I drink? Not any longer.
Do I go out with someone that will have a couple? Yep
Have I ever been out with someone that didn’t know enough was too much and too much was beyond enough? Yep
Did he become obnoxious? No, he was already that….that just turned it up a notch or two…lol
What would I do now if someone got to drinking too much? LEAVE HIM THERE….seriously No if ands or buts. No discussing and nope don’t call me ever again.

Good day everybody.
I went on a first date with a woman and it went totally left but I blame myself because it was her actual birthday that we went out on. I should have rescheduled but we decided to go out for a pregame appetizer/drink outing but boy was that a #fail! She started out with a martini that she downed in 2 sips! Then after complaining to the waitress that her martini was not strong enough, she ordered 5 (yes 5) mimosas at one time and slamed them like shots. What was really bad was how flirty she got and started slurring and being rude to the waitress. Needless to say, that was our first and last date!

good morning guys. I DO NOT drink and drive. did it one time years ago, made it home safe but swore that I would never ever do that again. so I generally don’t drink when out unless I’m not driving. I’ve been fortunate in that a lot of the guys I’ve dated are non-drinkers who don’t mind that I drink. I can’t get with the non-drinkers who are trying to get me to be a non-drinker too.

When I’m on a date, I’m usually the one driving. That makes it easy for me to not drink. Honestly, I don’t mind if my date drinks; however, I’ve got the mindset that if she’s drinking a lot, she must want to get drunk more than she wants to be on the date. Makes a second-date decision easier too!
Socially, as long as I’m not driving, I’ll have a drink (Wet Willies) or two. Not enough to get drunk, but enough to get relaxed.

Wait…let me rewind. What was the name of the place at Underground where you couldn’t even get in the door on the weekends? I remember having my drink mixed by a date, talk about being a bit more than buzzed. That was a 191 Octane (I think) and something else. Usually I have to consume a lot to even get a buzz but that hit me from the left. That’s the only time I can recall being effected by alcohol.

@disco ~ lately I’ve been having all the right numbers, but for the wrong game or didn’t play when the number dropped. I have a connection to 9431 so I’m going to play that for a while trying to outsmart the system. I’ve learned if you just play your number straight, the lottery likes to mix it up with something like 9430 or 9432 would fall. It’s a challenge trying to beat the system. So far, I’ve only beat Cash 4 twice.

Most of you, commenting on this blog, sound under age. Learning how to drink socially is very important in the real world. If you aspire to “climb the career ladder”, you need to be able to handle a few drinks with “the boss”.
As for dating…..be yourself. If you have a few, and your date doesn’t, you won’t see her again anyway, so, she’s done you a favor.

Back in my dating days, I went on a first date with a guy I met at a singles event. He didn’t seem to drink much at the “mixer” and although, you wouldn’t call him a hunk, he was an average-looking guy with an above-average personality, loved my kind of music and had a great sense of humor. Our first date, we went to a nearby park, paddled a canoe around the lake, and I brought us a picnic lunch and neither one of us drank. Second date, we took me to dinner and although he got a little tipsy, he was funny and I had a good time.
The third date, he bought tickets to see the Allman Brothers at the Fox Theater. Ready for an awesome evening, I dressed up, picked him up at his house and off we went. By the time the Allman Brothers got on stage, he had downed at least three beers and continued to go back for more. Midway through the concert he pulls out a fattie and lights it up in the Fox! Now granted, this was 12 or 13 years ago, and I’m not a prude about this, especially at a concert, but I was surprised by this. So by the time the concert was over, he could barely walk.
The building I had parked under was just a block away, so I held him up as he staggered down the sidewalk. Oh and the building I had parked at was also where I worked, so I had to drag him through the lobby slobbering, singing, laughing loudly and obviously wasted to get to my car. I took him home and headed out the front door as he was rummaging around in the frig for something to eat.
He was a happy, funny little drunk (reminded me of the movie Arthur) but that was our last date. I still have the picture in my head of him staggering out of the house with a piece of baloney hanging out of his mouth, wanting a kiss goodnight. (He didn’t get one). Too bad for him, I really, really liked him and had he chosen not to get plastered, I would have enjoyed getting together again.

Morning Gang!
Now this is a way to start the weekend!! Is the blog bar open? YAY!!!
I’ve never really been out with someone that did not know their limit. At least to the point of embarassing themselves or putting us in danger. I did date a guy that when he drank a little heavy he could not “perform”. He tried to put the blame on me, but didn’t work! Another guy I realized in hindsight and when his mother pointed it out, was a functioning alcoholic. He would literally down a large pitcher of apple martini every night after work. And it was more martini than apple!
The hubs & I like a nice drink or two. He mixes some wonderful drinks. We love good wine. We know our limits and those of our friends.
Dang, I’m missing Vegas, cause I sure had some good drinks there!
Not saying I couldn’t deal with a non-drinker, but it would not be as much fun. Especially if he expected me to remain dry too. No fun at all. I did go to a fun AA Haloween party with a good friend years ago. She & her husband were recovering alcoholics. They were a fun couple and all of their parties at their home were dry. It can be done.

Celisea, Twilight is a book series that was turned into a very lucrative film franchise. The books were written by a Mormon lady, and they are about vampires, except these vampires are extremely b***h made. They don’t drink blood, they sparkle in the sunlight, and they are generally the emo type. It’s geared towards teenage girls, although there are plenty of grown a** women who have fallen for it too.
I wish Blade would show up in the final movie and kill them all. lmao

Kym, I’ve heard that plasma TV’s don’t have as long of a shelf life as LCD’s, and they used to have an issue with burn ins. If you don’t play video games, then you shouldn’t have an issue with that.

Celisea – I agree with that “No shortcuts in life” statement all the way. My mom used to preach that and, as expected, once i became an adult I totally understood what she meant.
There was this guy on V103 this morning that made it big in the music and advertising business. He has a book out now and was talking about some of his more successful ad campaigns like McDonald’s “I’m Lovin It”. He said the biggest problem with this generation is that they want to shortcut their way to success. They want to fast-forward to the end result, but don’t want to pay their dues and work to get there.

Talk about wanting to get ahead in every way but earning it. My two coworkers 26 and 31 play the game so much that it’s just dang obvious. The painted on smiles in conferences and meetings, the bobble head walk (from him), the waaaay over the top giggling and grinning, the making sure they do something heck anything to ensure the big boss sees them, the tryna get in on every conversation (as in looking for an opening) when the execs come to garner kudos, the “team player” cape in they both adorn, the looking and acting engaged but on the back end when ain’t nobody here gossip about folks and what they had to do under “grin and bear it” but was really irked. Aaaah yeah, it just makes so much more sense and seems so much easier to just get it done natually, in your own space under your own abilities and worry free of who sees or knows it. Good work habits and ethics never goes unnoticed.

It is interesting reading this today because I notice how much culture has changed due to MADD and other very worthwhile organizations. So many of you have indicated that you have very seldom drunk alcohol, at least to excess. I was coming into manhood at a time when drinking and driving weren’t verboten like they are now and the “Three Martini Lunch” was still common (and smoking in offices which I hated with a passion because smokers have no idea how they affect non-smokers with a little asthma). I’m not proud of the times I am still not sure how I got home, but those are way back in the rear view mirror. The only times I get plastered are when i am mourning or celebrating privately (at home) the passing of a relationship…kind of a purgative. LOL
As Bob Dylan put it so well “The Times They are a Changin”.

Good advice, Diva! My general policy is a two-drink max on a date, or any time I’m out socially. Exceeding that makes me vulnerable not only to someone else’s misbehavior, but my own as well. I like to have my wits about me, so I can see trouble coming before it gets right in my face! Also, being with an intoxicated man is just no fun. It lessens his ability to do anything well, and it just makes it that much harder to respect him. A real man knows how to pace himself.
Do I ever pound back a few? Sure, it happens! But only when I’m home and/or in safe company. (And then only the good stuff.)

Not sure how she knew half the stuff she knew and the reaction on the client’s faces couldn’t have been staged. It’s weird.

It happens. There’s a place in the (biblical) story of David/Saul where Saul couldn’t hear from God so he went and had the dead prophet (Samuel) raised by a soothsayer. The dead asked why was he disturbing him. Told him he was going to die that night in battle…him and his sons.
He had to disguise himself to get her to do it because there was a law passed that there should be no more soothsaying. When she realized he was the king she got to trembling because she was suppose to be put to death for practicing. Of couse he told her no worries.

I believe “energy” can be left alone. The smell of your mother’s favorite perfume suddenly floats in a room you’ve never been in before. Here’s another example. This girl was walking to class after already having a bad day and had to study for a test that night. While walking she see’s a yellow post-it on the ground. She loves post-its. She bends down and picks it up, only to see a msg in her father’s handwriting. Some words of inspiration. She puts in the front of her notebook. She looked at all night while studying. Went to show her mother the next day, and the notes had disappeared.
Things like htat I do take notice to. In my mind, it’s highly probable.

They were discussing kids being innocent enough to be able to have a connection with ghosts, spirits etc. So they had callers call in with stories of their kids speaking of dead relatives they never met, or doing weird things with ‘imaginary’ friends etc…I didn’t get to hear many of the stories though. I used to think my cat would see stuff I was not able to spot. He’d sit in the corner of the room staring up at the ceiling for a long time. That would freak me out a little

And before I go, shamefully along with the mini sneakers and buttafinga, I had a huge slice of cake sitting on my desk….that I proudly tossed
I remember the pail of cookie dough of white chocolate mac nut
