My first love

I found some old journals from high school recently and reading through it made me nostalgic. Everything back then was sooo dramatic and huge. The first person you thought you were in love with was the only person in the world for you. Ahh, to be young and foolish again.

I thought about how the first love of your life can sometimes set a precedent for future relationships. Sometimes we realize who is no good for us, sometimes we are too naive to know it until much, much later.

What do you think your first love taught you about relationships? Do you remember the first time you fell head over heels in love?

Have you ever wondered what happened to them? Is it ever a good idea to go look them up and see how they are doing?

Happy Friday!

hey. I wasn’t in motion, no risk of hitting anything. I was at the red light. I was just looking and wondering. and I’ve got nationwide. funny – my son was in an accident a few weeks back and they cut him a check in less than 24 hours. we are still cracking jokes that nationwide really is on your side. love stories are so cool but I really dig the how we met stories. some of those are quite interesting. and you get a how we met story even if it never evolves into a love story.

swiss – That just goes to show you how much the world has changed. Back in the day a 3-way just meant you had 3 folks on a call at one time…which of course, depending on who else had that calling feature, you’d have anywhere from 3 to 9 folks on a call. lol

Ah…ignorance is bliss! When you have no clue what the real world is, you feel so much better. I guess that is why I hold onto my inner child. Today I am rocking 2 ponytails and a headband! I’m nostalgic d*mnit!

But I really thought my first (at age 19) was going to be my one and only. Again, ignorance is bliss! Then I got b*tchsmacked by reality and realize that I need to smack mommy for reading me fairytales as a kid. Talk about FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! Prince Charming my behind! There are far more frogs that no matter how many times of ways you kiss them…they will still be frogs! And some may leave warts! None over here though!

@czB ~ back in jr h.s. boys always wanted the “fast” girls. The only thing I knew how to do fast back then was run track and dance. I didn’t have many bfs, I believe due to my flat chestedness. Although I wanted a boyfriend, I was somewhat thankful for my itty bitty nubs. They kept me out of trouble for the most part.

Every time I thnk of fast girls, I think of this new girl to the block named Doreen. She was well endowed and always in fights with other girls. I never fought her simply because I knew she would squish me like a bug! I had the legs and arms of a twig.

on the heels of sexy & kimmie’s comments; my ex-hubs taught me that someone can truly like you as a friend, love you with all his heart, but still not have the strength to put what’s best for “us” ahead of what suits him.

bmw, thankfully i’ve never been a fan of fairytales. not even as a child. it has served me well to delve into all things morbid and supernatural. when dudes let me down i just cast some hoodoo on them and KIM. no time for tears here. LOL

seriously, but where you gaga for good girls when you were young and dumb? if so, we might have been quite a pair! =D

Leggs – You are so right about the fast girls. I developed early, but my mom did not let me dress too “grown” so she camoflaged what I had well. Plus my parents were not raising a skank, so while I had the equipment I didn’t know how to use it and didn’t want to deal with my parent’s wrath!! That’s why I got my little heart broken early on! My mom was real frank with me too – told me that’s how boys were but I’d have the last laugh when I got older and was not all “used up”!!LOL!!

CZ-Still gaga for good girls, there is nothing like a girl that you can come home to wrap your arms around and have complete trust in that person. You can get wild and crazy and still curl up and watch some tv. I don’t particularly like the bar scene, but every once in a while you meet a good one there. I have met a lot of girls that are like that, but they were forced into that situation, they got kids and learned that the simple things in life can be appreciated, I like girls with kids, they seem to have their act together more after taking care of someone else.

LOL @ leggs. i think because i’ve always had the big smile and long hair, guys would line up to ask me to go steady then just as quickly hit the door when they realized i was NOT into the physical. i can recall having so-called ‘boyfriends’ for all of about a week!

that first love of mine was the only one who hung in there months on end. even came to my house several times and hung out with my fam (and i lived 90 mins outside of town!) he really impressed me with that.

KIMMIE…I swear I must of heard that boys had worms a million times as a kid. Guess that’s why I was a boy bully! I used to beat up boys and out run them in races. Quite the tomboy I was. I wasn’t one of the “fast @ss girls” that parents spoke of. I was quite boney until 15. Well I always had a round booty…even when it was skinny. Then puberty hit and it was a bit too generous in chesticle and bootiful areas!

I just recently got back into touch with a childhood friend. And he reminded me how I used to beat him up when we were little. My mother was always getting the call from school or camp that I had punch some boy and gave him a bloody nose! I blame my mommy and grandparents.

Leggs – You know I would have gladly traded places with you in the chest area back then. There were so many cute clothes I wanted that my mom would not let me wear because I would look too grown in them with my boobage! Since I wasn’t doing anything anyway, I wanted to at least be able to rock cuter clothes.

I was different, even back then!!LOL!!

My HS sweetheart was my first love. He was one of my soulmates. I learned about friendship and chemistry from him. I’m thankful for that experience. I don’t think I ever thought we would be together forever. We never had a dramatic breakup. We broke up right before college so we could give each other freedom. We remained friends for years but lost touch a few years ago. I’m not interested in finding him. I’m sure we’ll cross paths again.

I don’t want to be “really good friends” with an ex or someone that I really really loved. I dunno, just don’t want to be. Nothing to do with being bitter or jaded. I for one like to close one door and leave it behind me before entering another.

What I’ve encountered here of late (and this has happened 3 times now), is starting off good friends and sort of feeling from the other person a pull towards something more and frankly in these 3 instances I’m not feeling “relationshipdom.” I felt each time the person was or is super cool but I don’t want that with them. There are some people I want to start off with being just really really cool, and nothing more, depending on the vibe. There are some people off the rip I want to be more than a friendship but I want to establish a really cool friendship first. I cannot seem to relay this. Typically when the first scenario happens, it gets awkward for me and I tend to back off. I do that because no matter the conversation, the person is going to “lean” that way and usually I’m not feeling it like that with them. How oh how do you get that said…when you’ve said, showed, given signs…all of it? No matter how much laughing it up, they will eventually take it there. Then I gotta pull back or pull up.

Off topic – Slim mentioned Juicy Couture. Oooooh my, I bought the body cream and I am smelling good :) For the last year or so I’ve been buying lotions only. The lotion for whatever perfume but not the actual perfume. I like the subtleness of the lotion. Plus it’s everywhere but quietly so.

swiss – Yeah but the difference is you don’t see chicks out in public, pumping gas, in line at the bank, at the grocery store etc scratching our boobs. Yall on the other hand are on a AS NEEDED, WHENEVER IT’S NEEDED BASIS. I seen this guy just Wednesday walking by on his cell phone digging all up in his beenie weenies and didn’t miss a step
