When we reach that age/stage in life that we should stop dating wholly inappropriate people, we (thankfully!) begin to figure out who is not good for you. It would be amazing and utterly convenient to have a running list of the “types” that everyone should generally avoid, right?
A reader sent me an article by a guy who listed the “types of women to avoid” and I found it equally tragic and hilarious.
Just for fun, let’s say we compose a list. What types would you put on it and why?
I would start mine with don’t date a record producer, aspiring rapper, or bartender. I have been down that road, trust me!
Let’s see what you come up with. Who knows? Maybe we can figure out if we are the type that others avoid. The more you know, people. The more you know.

On topic – I didn’t think of this earlier as for who not to date but I have found that I lose interest in guys fairly quickly if I ask the question “read any good books lately” and they reply with “I haven’t read a book since high school”. I know everyone’s not an avid reader and all but high school… for my dating pool, that can be 20-30+ years ago. and while this response might be an exaggeration for some, it’s an absolute truth for others.

@Celisea: I can’t do Sand and Sable….gives me a headache. I used to work with a woman who wore it, and I’d hold my breath whenever she was around.
Yeah, Ulta can be a little pricey. That’s why I sniff there, but usually buy online or occasionally at Macys – especially if I like the gift with purchase. There’s a site called scentiments that has a pretty good selection at decent prices (although i have noticed that lately a lot of their stuff seems to be out of stock). Their delivery is good, too.

Honestly Matt, the major thing all of us have to do is develop a list of what we want in a partner…define every specific aspect, looks, body, personality, age range, all of it. Then do these things:
1) Make a careful evaluation of oneself and say, “what do I need to be or do, to appeal to that Mr/Miss perfect.
2) Become the kind of person that Mr/Miss Perfect would be attracted to do (reengineer yourself…it can be done, I DID after my divorce).
3) Investigate WHERE that person would spend his/her time and or be found.
4 Put yourself where those people you desire would be (church, Match and screen for the type, social clubs, gyms, wherever). The attraction and interraction will come if you have done 1, 2, and 3.
YOU have to do the homework, no easy way…but the rewards are a great social life. It is not easy and takes WORK, but the way is actually fairly clear.

Purp – Yeah, there ya go! Bet the dudes the women are rejecting him for don’t smoke!
See, it’s a reason some folks are not as “popular” than others. They may seem perfectly “nice” but have a hidden dark side to them. You can’t always put your finger on it, but you just know something is “off”. See how he flipped from moist to nasty, telling folks to kiss off?
Sometimes it’s easier to deal with the devil you know, versus the one you don’t know!

@Matt ~ I’m not one afraid so I seldom put my vest on, but good for you. You don’t sound bitter, just hurt and confused. You recognize what you need to do. Your observations let you know these smart, pretty woman who appear to have something going for themselves are loving the thug life more than a more stable life with Poindexter (just kidding). As a female, I sometimes feel the same way. The right one will come when its right. Some people are not meant to walk thorugh life alone. Believe that and it will definitely happen…….WHAT, WHAT…….
