Do you return gifts to the ex?

I have never been comfortable accepting extravagant gifts from men I am not in a relationship with or seriously dating. It just makes me uneasy to the point that I could not enjoy the gesture because I am too busy worrying about the motive behind it.

I just think that if things are going so great, we will have plenty of time to spoil one another. Why change the dynamics of the relationship by bringing in big ticket gifts? What happens if things go horribly wrong and you spent a lot of money on someone and start to regret all those gifts?

A friend of mine recently broke up with her man and they had only been dating less then a year. She wants to give back the car that he bought her. Yes, that’s right a car. To be fair, he owns a dealership and probably could afford to let her keep it. I just don’t think she should have accepted it in the first place.

The car actually became an issue for her when deciding if she would break up with him or not. See? This is why things change when money and finances get involved in a dating relationship! What do you think? Should your extravagant gifts or financial loans be returned to your ex post break up?

What is your position on gift buying and exchanging in dating? When is it too generous? Is there such a thing?

Have you ever spent a lot of money on one person you were dating? Did you regret it?

Would you ever ask someone to return a gift you gave them when you were together?

Just because Buffet says they should be paying more in taxes doesnt mean they should. It is one mans opinion.
UGA And your opposition to that opinion is also an opinion.

And I am sorry the president has a HUGE impact on the employment rate in our economy.
UGA Not true. If you believe that, then you are severly underestimating the strength and robustness of the US economic system. The economy is harmonic, meaning that it goes through cycles. These cycles will occur, independent of the person in office. The only thing a president can do is attempt to provide an environment such that the peak of the cycle is amplified in good times and the trough of the cycle is minimized in bad times. The extent to which they can do this is actually pretty limited.

You guys sure were singing a different tune when he was running for office.
UGA I’m not exactly sure who “you guys” are, but I don’t subscribe to group dynamics. I’m not a “disciple” of Obama or any other person. I try to objectively apply logical reasoning to the best information that I have. I never thought Obama could prevent unemployment from hitting 10%, but I didn’t think anyone else could either. I’d bet many of the current candidates also believed that…probably the reason they didn’t run in 2008. You have to give it up to the people who had the courage to run in 2008 (both parties). Many knew it was political suicide. The economy will improve slowly over the next few years (part of the cycle), and whoever is in office will receive the credit for that

Boortz graduated from a law school that lost it accreditation (Marshall something).
The President graduates from Harvard and the first black to be president of the Harvard Law Review.
But that doesn’t matter to YOU PEOPLE.

Well, one person was hipped a long time ago.

Now, we may not know him as a complete person, but we do know some parts to his being! And, it’s not nice!

The biggest problem of the day is that this is not a political blog. We all have ideas/opinions about what works and what doesn’t. this isn’t the forum for it though.

Ugh… Started to try to catch up & now I’m glad I was too busy to read all of this crap.

Too many inaccuracies from 1999 to address today, but if you’re out there, 1999, I’ll try to find time to shed a little light on some things for you tomorrow afternoon.

Personally I would rather talk about sex (more control over my own destiny and I have more first hand information about what works and what doesnt without talkking heads on any network trying to tell me). lol

Hmmmm, not one counter argument to any of my posts. Only a “Dreams…..totally disagree on all points.” without any support. Most people have predetermined opinions, and they piece together any information they can find to bolster that opinion. The proper approach would be to absorb all of the information you can find, analyze it, and let the results speak for themselves, whether they align with your initial hypotheses or not.

Hey everyone come on back. I didn’t mean to start a debate by posting the Warren Buffet thing. I just thought it was interesting. Let me make it up to the ladies by opening the blog bar…first two drinks on me. Luv ya’ll.

Actually, Dreams, I agreed with almost everything you said. I nearly posted a response to your statement that ad hominem is by definition a logical fallacy, which is not entirely accurate. In light of the other whoppers being thrown around, though, arguing semantics seemed petty and small.

And with all the crap UGA man has projected today, THAT’S why I asked him early on to back up and move on past me. Coming on here “as if” he’s with the flow and really he was searching for a hairline crack the entire time to project his stupidity. Coming on here bragging about all his indiscretions and hanging on to every comment the ladies made so he can find an opportunity to disrespect and take it there.

You would be technically correct since the latin means “to the man”. You couldn’t have told me in high school that I would ever need those 4 years of latin. lol Ad Hominem argument is classified as a logical fallacy because it is based on information about the person that is not logically relevant to the argument they are making. The fact that I don’t put down the toilet seat has nothing to do with my argument that you spend too much money. LOL Ok gotta go, but it was refreshing being able to blog again after so long.

Actually, Dreams, that’s not exactly the distinction I was making. You are absolutely correct on all points except that it can be defined as a logical fallacy. While more often than not the statements are fallacies, occasionally (if you’re dealing with an issue of morals or values, for example) the statement is relevant to the issue being discussed.

And if you leave the toilet seat up, I will spend MORE money! :)
