Do you return gifts to the ex?

I have never been comfortable accepting extravagant gifts from men I am not in a relationship with or seriously dating. It just makes me uneasy to the point that I could not enjoy the gesture because I am too busy worrying about the motive behind it.

I just think that if things are going so great, we will have plenty of time to spoil one another. Why change the dynamics of the relationship by bringing in big ticket gifts? What happens if things go horribly wrong and you spent a lot of money on someone and start to regret all those gifts?

A friend of mine recently broke up with her man and they had only been dating less then a year. She wants to give back the car that he bought her. Yes, that’s right a car. To be fair, he owns a dealership and probably could afford to let her keep it. I just don’t think she should have accepted it in the first place.

The car actually became an issue for her when deciding if she would break up with him or not. See? This is why things change when money and finances get involved in a dating relationship! What do you think? Should your extravagant gifts or financial loans be returned to your ex post break up?

What is your position on gift buying and exchanging in dating? When is it too generous? Is there such a thing?

Have you ever spent a lot of money on one person you were dating? Did you regret it?

Would you ever ask someone to return a gift you gave them when you were together?

Kimmie: I will.. UGA doesn’t want to discuss because he thinks he is educating. And yes I did see Breaking Bad. Chicken Man is “the Man” in how he is getting Jessie to do what he wants. Oh and I still Hate Skyler.

UGA: You have not answered one question that was posed to you. You mentioned Reagan and unemployment not being 10% but 9.5% which is still higher than the current unemployment rate but that’s not my point Reagan raised taxes 7 times during his term with unemployment at 9.5% to answer your earlier question of when was the last time taxes was raised during a recession. But I know you are not going to answer, just ask another question.

ITL: With Breaking Bad you have to start at the beginning or you will be lost. And that Shelley comment hurt.

For Real now getting a reverse church hug from ITL.

I”m having another waldrobe malfunction and I know it’s not because I’m losing weight. I have on an ankle length skirt, but it won’t stay on me. It keeps sliding down every time I walk. I’ve checked the elastic band and it seems intact, but I think it’s loosening up. BRB, need to go find a safety pin so I don’t embarrass myself and walk right out my skirt….

UGA I wonder why you’re here? Always an attempt at proving a point. Any idiot can sit back and point out errors. Answer the questions that are being posed and stop taking potshots at people.

I suggest every one read Barr’s blog and UGA1999’s comments. Isn’t it something how behind the screen people show their true feelings. I bet he’s got black neigghbors and smiling in their faces all the while. What a coward to speak so vehemently behind the screen.

you believe that lie when unemployment is still around 9% and our credit rating was just downgraded by S&P for the first time in history
UGA You mean the same S&P that gave Enron a AAA rating all the way until it actually folded? Or do you mean that S&P that gave AAA ratings to billions worth of subprime mortgage-backed securities? Also, no matter how we spin it, there is no person who could have stopped unemployment from going to 10%, and there is no person who could have it be significantly lower than it is right now. The economy is more robust than any one president. Also, it absolutely IS the case that unemployment reached 10.8% under Reagan. Actually, it was greater than 10% for 10 months (Sep. 1982 through June 1983). To my original point about taxes, I am for fair taxation, meaning that income-earners ought to be paying the same percentage of their income. People ought not be paying zero taxes, whether they’re top or lower wage earners. If I’m paying 30%, then so should everyone else. All Warren Buffet was saying is that he’s prepared to do his part by paying his fair share, and he believes others should be willing too.

Just because Buffet says they should be paying more in taxes doesnt mean they should. It is one mans opinion. And I am sorry the president has a HUGE impact on the employment rate in our economy. Do you own a business?

It is funny that I hear you guys now saying that Obama cannot control spending or unemployment. You guys sure were singing a different tune when he was running for office.

@ DM re: “To my original point about taxes, I am for fair taxation, meaning that income-earners ought to be paying the same percentage of their income. People ought not be paying zero taxes, whether they’re top or lower wage earners”

My feelings…flat tax top to bottom, no exceptions nor loopholes of any kind, so no one can say anyone is not paying their fair share. I pay a lot of taxes (high income single taxpayer with no dependents), but I don’t mind paying MORE if everyone else, rich or poor, is doing the same. And then all would have an equal stake in what the government is spending…good or bad.

Also, lower taxes and remove all loopholes on corporate taxes, making it a level playing field that encourages growth in all sectors not just a choice few.

Right now we have a tax system that encourages everyone to try to have everyone else but them screwed.
