When love comes calling – from another city?
We know Atlanta has the cool dating scene. There are a lot of places to go see and be seen. We have the great looking people and the hottest parties. What happens when you are ready to get off the dating scene and fall in love? Do you think Atlanta is a city conducive to that happening?
While we rank pretty high on any given best city for singles list, it looks as if the best city for love (you know, grown up, make it work kind?) is not Atlanta. It’s San Antonio, Texas. I know! I’m shocked too. I go there once a year on my trek to do volunteer work in Mexico. I had no idea I was in the city of matrimony and love. Maybe I should stay in the city a little longer this year!
This list that The Daily Beast compiled pulled the most telling statistics of each city. They looked at which cities had “a high prevalence of marriage, a low incidence of divorce, a relatively happy population and a wealth of bars and restaurants to meet and woo a significant other”. Sounds fair right?
Here is how Atlanta scored:
- Attracting singles: C
- Social life: C
- Emotional Health: A
- Marriage: A
- Divorce: F

Hey Purp:
I was trying to help dude get back on his feet. He talked about getting back with ex wife for about two minutes the rest of the time I was giving him information and addresses to agencies to help newly released inmates get to productive citizens again. It’s my humanitarian side of me I was a pshycology major in school. I don’t have to know you to help you.

Late to the party I know, but have to say that an LTR would be like a hot dog from the Varsity without the dog or the bun…just the abuse. Ambiance (aka small talk on smartphone for this question) without the physical nearness only goes so far and at least for me is somewhat unfulfilling.
Would I leave town for the right person? What is the old rhyme? Hmmm, maybe…

Okay, just kidding, I do like relationships with more depth, truly. But lately, I never know where I’m going to be and when I will be home long enough to properly give a lady the attention she deserves (and don’t want some BSD taking care of that “for me” when I’m gone). That is one reason my love life is somewhat lean right now…I spend more time in Marriott concierge lounges than I do at home. I could do the phone thing, but I like physical touch and proximity. Anything else seems too much like a dry hump (can I say that?)

The overly sanitized not really able to flesh out things in an adult manner monitoring helped me withdraw and sadly, work at work.
But you know what would bring some of the boys n girls back ot the yard? A week of blog entries revisiting the best smackdowns i.e. meltdowns or whateva so we could reminisce, laugh then sing kumbuyah… I missed the most recent ones, but I’m sure the curtains closed on well executed dramatic performances. Usually, the characters come back to life after a brief hiatus.
