When love comes calling – from another city?

We know Atlanta has the cool dating scene. There are a lot of places to go see and be seen. We have the great looking people and the hottest parties.  What happens when you are ready to get off the dating scene and fall in love? Do you think Atlanta is a city conducive to that happening?

While we rank pretty high on any given best city for singles list, it looks as if the best city for love (you know, grown up, make it work  kind?) is not Atlanta. It’s San Antonio, Texas.  I know! I’m shocked too.  I go there once a year on my trek to do volunteer work in Mexico.  I had no idea I was in the city of matrimony and love. Maybe I should stay in the city a little longer this year!

This list that The Daily Beast compiled pulled the most telling statistics of each city. They looked at which cities had  “a high prevalence of marriage, a low incidence of divorce, a relatively happy population and a wealth of bars and restaurants to meet and woo a significant other”.  Sounds fair right?

Here is how Atlanta scored:

  • Attracting singles: C
  • Social life: C
  • Emotional Health: A
  • Marriage: A
  • Divorce: F

What do you think? Do you think Atlanta is prime location to be in love and happy?

Would you ever consider leaving Atlanta if you met someone great in a different city that is more marriage friendly?

A city of love has the best romantic dining, they named Atlanta’s Wisteria. What are your top romantic places to venture?

There’s a LOT of competition for the houses that I like (floor plan, condition, price range). I’m waiting to hear back on an offer on a 4th property….three of which they came back and asked for a “highest and best”…(One the owner said that he would only take asking price – I didn’t like it that much, so I bowed out.)

On this last one, I have gone $4k over asking price. I’m in a “wait-n-see” situation. I really like this property. However, in trying to be fairly unemotional about it, I am realistic that I’ve got to keep seeing what other properties are available.

If we put in the same amount of effort in any location, it’ll only yield different results if the persons you’re exerting the effort on reciprocates with at least the same amount. I think that’s what trips most up – giving energy to the wrong ppl/ppl who don’t give it back.

Did NOT get the Zulu Freedom Fighters memo… Y’all selling t-shirts to support the cause?

You still partying…too funny! Happy Belated!

Your number should be falling soon. I’ve been playing my childhood home address 282. I hit last week, box. It fell 228. I’m jumping into the big league and leave Cash 3 alone for a minute. Cash 4 and up. Still waiting 0125 to fall.

I tried a long distance relationship over a year ago with a dude who lived in Seattle. He turned out to be PSYCHO!!! I’m not even joking. When we broke up, I was worried he would show up at my door here. I’m glad I’ve moved since then and my info is unpublished so that he can’t find me if he were to ever try. I don’t think I would try a LDR again. I like to be held and cuddled too much!

Oh…SCool…I’m right there with you…house hunting right now. It’s totally stressing me out because I have to be out of my apt by April 8th and I’m having a hard time finding a nice house in my pricerange! Going to look at one in about 30 minutes that might be the “one”!

I know…it’s getting really stressful thinking that there could be a lapse. I’m hoping that once I get a contract, my loan officer can get it pushed through quicker because I have excellent credit. We’ll see. I just don’t want to get stuck in another apartment for a year…

kb – you won’t get stuck. You should be able to go month to month for a slightly higher rate in your current spot without signing a lease.

Even if you did renew, there should be a clause in your lease that allows you to break it…usually with a two month notice. And you may want to check it just in case because it may require a two month notice on your part even if you planned on just letting the lease lapse.

At any rate, I would have a conversation with the leasing manager to determine what the options are. It may make the situation a bit less stressful for you to know all your options.

Kellibean – Just do a day-to-day lease. It’s a lil more but at least it won’t have you making a rush decision. Landlords are usually flex about allowing this especially if you’re in the “House-Market”

So is parenting! Which is why I doubt that I want any parts of either! I mean, I have met some really sexy men here NYC…but I have to question, when the sexiness wears off…what the hell will I be stuck with? Will it be me saying, “Dayum…when I met him, he had a six pack. Now it looks like he knocked back a few 6 packs of Coronas! No PREGNANT men please! UGH!

During my years in ATL….I must say it was the time in my life where I had the least amount of options for dating. The pool was shallow and only had a few fish that I thought were worth catching. Most of the ones I did catch…I threw those mutant things back in. I guess they have contaminated the pool like pee!

I can tell you that now that I’ve left Atlanta, (I’m in North Carolina now) it is funny how I think about all the fine women I used to see in Atlanta.

We’ll see how it goes. In my opinion Atlanta was not too bad. From my experience single women who are supposedly “looking for a nice guy” are flaky regardless of where they are located.

I’ll see what’s going on in Charlotte. :)

White Dude Charlotte isn’t Atlanta, but you can definitely get in where you fit in. The circles are a bit smaller, so everyone “knows” everyone else’s dating history.
