It can be daunting trying to figure out why we are always drawn to a certain type of person. Honestly, sometimes it feels like one of life’s great mysteries, with no rhyme or reason to it.
Attraction has a way of making us forget that we have met and dated a certain type before..even when it ended badly. I’m guilty of having relationship amnesia and I end up right back in the same predicament. It’s an awful deja vu moment to think that you have chosen the wrong type of person to invest time in.
Do you have a type that you always seem drawn to? Do you ever wonder why?
This is why I am such a big fan of going against type and leaving your comfort zone in dating. I have had good experiences when I give it a try! If you were to date someone totally opposite of who you usually are drawn to, what do you think would happen?

Dating outside of my comfort zone has given me better results as well. I am drawn to smart guys, have always had a thing for men who can capture my attention. I’ve dated athletic men that were able to hold my attention just as well.

As a young chick, I didn’t really consider what my type was. I was just out running around choosing based on attraction, emotion, chemistry and a whole bunch of other reasons that felt good and exciting and yummy and all.
After making bad choices and learning some tough lessons, I began to actually consider my type. I came to realize that it has less to do with physical attributes and more to do with character.
Needless to say, once I actually realized the importance of determining my true relationshiop needs, my “type” changed and over time required tweeking. Sometimes, it was a case of “Be careful what you ask for.” Other times, it was a case of “As you learn better, do better.” (The problem with that last edict….some folks never learn.)

‘Just put some coupons in their to his favorite sports bar for wings and beer! Also, throw in the basket a nice negligee for yourself to wear for him.’
Leggs – Yeah I was going to put coupons in there, his favorite candy, a bottle of goose (his fav licka), a nice negligee for me, some funny sexy undies for him, lovers dice and whatever else I could find to throw in there.

Yeah, I’m good with keeping with my type. I’ve always paid attention to a person’s character, so I can’t imagine relaxing that standard.
And then of course, height. I could relax that…but I’on want to. I don’t think you can really go wrong with either.

You’re attracted to who you’re attracted to; it’s human nature. Attraction is built in. You can’t “overcome” it. You can try to ignore it but it’s like fighting hunger; you eventually have to eat. Don’t you watch Discovery?

Hi WD
I have a bad habit of being attracted to women that turn out to be crazy. (Hmmm, or does that mean all women are crazy as bedbugs, or do I just turn them flaky)??? Guessing that “normal” would be toooooo boring though.

That’s my point. When I’ve gone off menu, I was somewhere I didn’t belong.
As someone stated earlier don’t fight the natural order of what you like and where you belong.. Otherwise things get all out of whack!

Afternoon Gang!
Well, our other offices helped us out during the snow, so we are now returning the favor. All good, though.
On topic – My type is a lot like Amred’s type. So it all just boiled down to timing. This time I finally got the timing right!
Any time I’ve gone out of my comfort zone, just hasn’t worked out. And even those times I didn’t stray too far, just didn’t work. Times when I listened to other people instead of my heart.
The heart always wins! At least in my case!

I had a terrible time winding up with the same version of men.
My parents once told me, “I think you’re ‘picker’ is broken.”
I was introduced to a man by a mutual friend who was at the time, “not my type”. We were married in a little under a year and celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary in December.
Since this experience i’ve realized that many of us have created this false idea of the ‘type’ of man we need. I was completely wrong. My husband is a different age, a different color, a different profession, a different background, a different everything than what I THOUGHT I wanted.

Amred – When I messed up it was when I decided to go for the more creative/artsy/earthy types instead of the corporate geeks I love. I can’t go one or the other. It’s not so hard to find a combo of both – someone that is creative and appreciates the arts but is smart and responsible as well.
