Dating: Actions speak louder?

I’ve met and dated some really “charismatic” men in my day. I’m talking about the smooth, slick, totally engaging type that could convince you of just about anything. Oh they can make you swoon for days. It’s all fun and games until all that lip service they served is not backed up by actions!

I don’t know if we really grasp the idea that actions hold the most value when you are trying to get to know someone. I think it’s normal for people to talk a good game but how do you know who is playing to win?

If someone doesn’t back up their words with actions, do you think they are trustworthy?

Morning snow bunnies!

All talk and no actions slams the door shut. One thing about a person talking just to hear noise, you won’t have to wait long to see they’re not about a thing…it gets old real quick unless you find yourself to be a dream catcher and quite frankly I’m not into make believe. Word is bond. If you’re not a man of your word, what else is the

Morning All,

Dreams – Looks like you in need of a good WingMan this morn with the Ladies.

On Topic – Actions are a results of standards. If you allow anyone Male/Female to get any portion of your time based on words alone then of course you get just that. The thing is most people ACCEPT the jaw-jacking until heartbreak or tom-foolery forces them to demand concrete Actions. Even then from time to time a good talk game can get you almost anything from certain people. A sizable (and growing) part of the population thrives on that fact perpetuating and fueling the Misadventures.

Snow Jam 2011!!!!

What’s up, gang? Blogging from SO’s house. Been on the phone with the team & boss all morn. One SUPER-DEDICATED lady decided to come to work this morn! :( Even security was not at the building, lady!! I knew if anyone was there, she would. I called her desk and bingo! I sent her crazy self HOME!!! We got folks on the West Coast that can cover our work!

On topic – Brat summed it up best for me. The more smooth talk there is, the less walk! Not interested!

Sup Dreams, Brat, Celisea? Some of my favorite blog buddies up in the blog snow cabin with me today! :)

ya gotta hear the talk game first, before you can get to the action part! If his talk game is relevant, then you’ll get to see if his actions line up…so don’t immediately dismiss the smooth talker…gotta start somewhere.

Willie D – Then the so-called good guy needs to find his voice and speak up! Nobody will know he’s supposed to be a good guy. Everyone has to sell themselves. Nobody can do it for you! Get so tired of hearing about the poor pityful good guy that can’t get no play. Dudes like that always put the blame on women, when they need to look in the mirror and take accountability.

True “good guys” don’t have any problem attracting women.

Good morning. The NYer in me that knows how to brave a storm made me get me up get dressed this morning, only to say WTF. I’m not going to be one of those brave souls out there trying to get to work to better my company’s productivity (LOL).

“I don’t know if we really ‘grasp” the idea that actions hold the most value…” I think many of us do grasp this, and that’s why we cut the BS down more quickly. We are no longer willing to sit back and watch and listen in the hopes that what we “think” we see and feel is not real. It’s ok to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but when you feel your feelings and desires are being neglected more and more, it’s time to sit back and be honest with yourself. Nothing wrong with calling BS on the play!

Blogging with the comfort of my snuggie. (To be honest, this thing is very cumbersome)!

believe it or not, 2can, it often has much more to do with how a man carries and presents himself than a recitation of his dating resume. and i’m sure you fellas have had similar experiences with women. most of those who have developed the best “sales pitch” have had to do so specifically because their actions don’t get the job done.

2Can – I’m withchu bruh. I also know enough to know that alotta times you dont even need the Sales Pitch. Ladies are sooo good at running their mouths themselves (of course none of our blog ladies) that all you have to do is shut up and dont talk you way out of anything. 2C – Who said he wasn’t getting a shot? Isn’t that what this topic is about, dudes that talk the talk but don’t follow thru? Sounds like he’s been given more than enough time to implement his plan!

I’ve had dudes talk to me all day on the phone, for weeks, say they want to take me here, there and do this & that and never make any definite plans. I’ve even suggested we meet, do, etc. Never follow thru. So I assumed they were not interested and were just talk, maybe already had a girlfriend or something. Morning Dreams. Hey Kimmie. Good post Willie D. I don’t mind the smmoth talk as long as it’s synonymous woth actions. I don’t mind smooth talk long as it’s void of games. A dude about something ain’t into gams either and as soon as we establish som potential likeness and both have something we can bring, usually it’s not next to never before things progress. Sometimes I think ppl intend to back up their words… eventually. They just wanna see how far they can go before they do, so as not set too high a precedent. Since it’s a great snow day, what are some of your best snow memories.

Here’s one of mine. I lived in Pavilion Apartments off Flat Shoals. Was making my way to my gf’s house not too far away (Alpine Aptmts.). My car stalled. Had to trek through SoDeKalb Mall to her place. My coat was frozen when I finally arrived. They had to chisel me out of it. A few nice warm drinks of straight brandy and lots of laughter made it all worth while. I knew I didn’t want to experience the blizzard of ‘82 or was it ‘83 by myself. Got my car 3 days later.

@cba ~ yes, I came to the ATL in ‘79 and knew I was never going back to live in NYC. By the Grace of God and all I’ve endured, I managed to not go back home to live w/Mama.

Ok, nobody has any fond, or even scary, snow day memories?

mytw♥cents

January 10th, 2011
3:58 pm

I was tryna narrow it down cuz they’re mostly fond. I remember one time when I was in middle school maybe, they plowed the snow real early and it was like four feet high of fluffy whiteness. The block had a snow fight which really meant my brother and the twins from down the street somehow buried all the girls in the snow, put it all inside our hoods and everything… heathens! We gave up after a couple hours before dripping inside & thawing out with hot chocolate and whatever treats mommy made us, probably sittin watching Kung Fu & G.L.O.W. Good times!

Leggs

January 10th, 2011
4:05 pm

@mytwo ~ had to laugh at the “block” had a snow fight. Not many say “block” anymore. As much as I hate snow and cold, I remember when I worked on Wall Street and had to go pick up my paycheck. The snow was up to my kneecaps. Every part of my body was covered. All you could see were my eyes. I had on some fierce sheepskin boots and sheepskin coat and hat. I was warm as anyone could be fighting the elements. I got my check and even did a little shopping.

I think my favorite snow memories are from when I was in college in SC, sittin in the window watchin the “Florida Boys” scrape up enuff snow to make snowballs. Most of them had never ever seen snow. It was quite entertaining, cause they wld be the only ones out there playin in it

PNIK I went to school here in GA and saw a lot of the same. One time it came down and the campus was blanket of snow – it was beautiful, but nothing I hadn’t seen before. Those fools were outside in t-shirts losing their minds! It’s always fun to watch someone else discover new joys, tho.

Remember when I was in grad. school in Michigan, and there was a huge storm after Christmas. I was riding in the car with my homeboy who was from Alabama and had never seen snow like that. So, he’s driving and all of a sudden loses control of the car. We start sliding and spinning, all the he’s trying to regain control, but failing miserably. Out of nowhere, he says “muthaf@ka! get back on the road!”, and immediately the car stops spinning, straightens up, and regains traction. I think he even shocked himself ’cause we looked at each other in disbelief for a second, and then started crackin the he!! up. lol

@DreamsM ~ no doubt he’ll get over it rather quickly. But, bet right now he wants his place back to himself. WillieD says he’s tired of looking at the puddy, but she stays on ready. He’s only complaining to himself (and WillieD) because he’s riding her like she’s riding him!

I gave it a grade of “D”…I was not impressed. Anytime you bring in folks like Sheree, Terrence J and Meagan Good (playing the ho, of course) you’re not gonna have quality programming! LOL

Not a lot of character growth, and they were all feeling themselves too much.

What did you think?

I am kind of liking our little bootleg blog.. oh yeah I checked out the game for the first time last night..as a person seeing it with fresh eyes I was one confused but someone filled in the story line for me and two I thought the acting was a weak..is the show a comedy or a drama or a dramedy or what? The storylines had alot going on…but I guess you have to know what’s what and who is who. Either way…I was not a bit impressed. So I guess it will be a huge ratings draw for BET…LOL!

@ARed ~ I was surprised to see Sheree. All they’re doing is feeding her huge ego. I can hear her telling her peeps she’s an actress now. That cameo walking across the screen was nothing. I saw her hair before I recognized it was her. Please help the diva she’s about to become. I see the white girl (don’t remember her name) has toned up her body! But she needs to get rid of Kate Plus 8 hairdo.

@PrincessNik ~ she’s going to do so much damage by sitting on that info. It reeks of jealousy, and her marriage already seems fractured.

@DreamsM ~ apparently, a litany of fans staged an uprising and wrote in to have The Game back on tv. They moved from CW69 to BET where, supposedly, they will have a broader canvas to put more compelling (haa haaa, compelling) story lines on.

TenderRoni

How is everyone on the 3rd boot-legging day,

At work, luckily for me the roads are not that bad, and I work close to home.

@The Game- it was hyped up, but i was let down. It wasn’t as funny, and storyline needs improving, its so predictable. Except that Melaine and Derwin baby ituation- wheeeww that got me. Thats the only part I’m interested in so far, guess cuz I been through something similiar. I wonder would I have pulled a Melaine, darn what she going do!

Leggs

January 12th, 2011
11:23 am

@TenderRoni ~ she needs to do the right thing and tell him and let the chips fall where they may. However, that’s not good tv so it will be dragged on. And, when it comes to light in the next few episodes, we may find her seeking legal advice toward her pending divorce.

Ok, any of you snow bunnies watch Bad Girls Club? The chicks this season are a hot mess, esp. the thick girl that plays football. She’s trying to run the house right out the gait. One girl went home during the first 45 mins. She was drunk, too young to hang, and immediately got into a fight. Next Monday’s show will have a knock down fight with someone going to the hospital.
