Dating: Actions speak louder?

I’ve met and dated some really “charismatic” men in my day. I’m talking about the smooth, slick, totally engaging type that could convince you of just about anything. Oh they can make you swoon for days. It’s all fun and games until all that lip service they served is not backed up by actions!

I don’t know if we really grasp the idea that actions hold the most value when you are trying to get to know someone. I think it’s normal for people to talk a good game but how do you know who is playing to win?

If someone doesn’t back up their words with actions, do you think they are trustworthy?

Morning Dreams. Hey Kimmie. Good post Willie D. I don’t mind the smmoth talk as long as it’s synonymous woth actions. I don’t mind smooth talk long as it’s void of games. A dude about something ain’t into gams either and as soon as we establish som potential likeness and both have something we can bring, usually it’s not next to never before things progress. I just have a problem, am leary and have no tolerance for someone that’s all talk. For someone void of substance, it won’t ever take long for that to surface.

Good Morning Fellow Snowbunnies,

I always thought the fellows were about actions..so if your actions are not lining up..then most of what you are saying is just noise. Show and prove joker..show and prove.

CZBrat – Enjoy your cocoa. I’ve been over to my neighbor’s and had grits, eggs, bacon, raisin toast AND coffee. While I have an oncoming migraine I fully enjoyed breakfast :) Medicine is next followed by sleep…that’s the only way to fully rid this thing.

@PR ~ I’m well aware of what “carrying a big stick” mean. Believe it became popular with the the movie “Walking Tall.” Anyway, you can walk with a big stick or you can lay with a big stick. Bottom line is walk the talk you talk! On your back or on your feet!

@PR ~ you’re right. I do remember that. Just thought most would remember the movie than Theordore Roosevelt’s speech. I remember it, somewhat unfortunately. :lol:

@czB ~ that’s exactly what I was drinking…Moscato. It’s a nice light wine for a cold day.

For all, cool neighbors are the “bees knees.” I speak from experience because I’m one of them! Ok, time to knock on my neighbor’s door too tidy up my toddy….

Kimmie – Both homes having cool neighbors is indeed a blessing. Not only can I get coffee but someone is home at just about all times and keeping an eye out, 2 of our boys hauls everybody’s garbage cans down to the curb for trash service and takes them back. That’s a small chore assigned by their mom. She also sends them to change the porch bulbs and aother small odd jobs. Such nice boys too.

Sometimes I think ppl intend to back up their words… eventually. They just wanna see how far they can go before they do, so as not set too high a precedent. Like a child who gets a few As and then can’t live down a B in his parents’ eyes. It’s one of the control measures implemented maybe even subconsciously cuz no one wants to feel like they’re putting in more effort than the other.

I don’t think some people mind putting in more effort than the other. Some people are just hard workers and will do their best in every situation because that is just their inner drive or how they were raised. back up your talk and be the best at anything you decide to do.
