I resolve to live it up!
It can be pretty profound hearing about “untimely” deaths and seeing really tragic events take place right at the end of the year. I’m normally pensive and reflective as it is, but when I take a moment to consider how life really is a journey, I begin to think about making the journey more meaningful.
Life is short. Life is beautiful. Life is precious. If anything this past year has taught me, its that you can plan all you want but sometimes you have to just enjoy life as it comes.
I resolve to focus less on what is missing because it takes away from appreciating what’s not missing.
I have a propensity to plan everything and I try to take small, calculated risks (Exciting, I know, it’s how I roll!) Throwing caution to the wind can actually be a fun thing (within reason?), so I would love to see what happens when I try it.
I can only make one dating resolution that I know has a high success rate: Have fun. That’s it. What about you? Do you think making resolutions work?

Do you think making resolutions work?
Nope. The trend will be exactly the same in the gym this year as it’s been every year. I’ll have to go extra early to beat the “resolvers” fro about two months, and then everything will back the way it was.
I don’t get into making resolutions. EVERY day brings new opportunity, and the new year is as good as any other day to make a change in your life.

Good day. I think the only dating resolution is to just have fun and go out with no expectations. I think this helps me relax and takes a lot of pressure off. It is a lot easier to go out and not expecting that this may be my potential serious relationship. So I resolve to just have fun and keep my dating lighthearted!

Good morning,
Previous new year turnovers have always made me reflect on the many folks that met their appointed time and did not have the opportunity to cross over in seeing the new year and a new day. To be honest, in reflecting, dating is really nowhere on the list. I think about opportunities…missed and taken…and the grace that allowed and protected and I do think, honestly think there will come a year where I won’t cross over into the new and from there I pray that I’m ready and all is in order.

Morning Everyone!!
New Years is my favorite holiday, just something about it that I absolutely love. As far as resolutions, I believe they can work if you are realistic and committed to it. Certain trends go without fail like Dreams mentioned (thank goodnes for Anytime Fitness so I can avoid those crowds). I look at the new year as a time to reflect on last year and prepare for the year ahead.
As far as dating resolutions….havent even thought about that

Who mentioned Anytime Fitness? I love that place. There was one in Smyrna that closed and you know I panicked (not that I even frequent that often) because I just thought it “closed”…it’s NEVER big crowd there. I just happen to take the back roads to Blue Moon (haaay SexyCool) and stumbled up on the new location.

Morning All,
I wouldn’t say I do New Year’s resolutions, but I do become more reflective of live and myself towards this time of year. I like to bring in the new year with having plans and goals for my future. But I don’t wait until Jan.1st to start. I have already started, I beleive in immediate action.
My dating resolve, is ,if and when I decide to date again, would be to stop having a causal dating attitude. I will state my intentions upfront, and if we are not on the same page I will run!

Dreams, so true about the gym and new year. There was an article about a couple of years ago and it was saying that the regulars should just be patient and tolerant because in a couple of months, things will be back to normal. But, as it stated, we all had to start somewhere.

I just had a “what the heck” moment this morning…slightly anyway
Okay dude beat my friend out for the job and since getting here he’s been holed up in his office….chilling (his words). I send him a few emails of things he need to do this morning and he pays me a visit and “jokingly” says “you killing me with all this work” ummmm, is that not why you were hired? It’s the holidays and quite light compared to the norm. I’m sensing something, got it before today but I ain’t gon call it cause that would be me projecting negativity. I schlept it into work through some still yet unplowed parts to come to the ghost town. I am getting paid to lollygag! Oh well In other news…due to my debilatating headaches that landed in the ER on Monday..I have Vicodin. Had to pop one this mornign as soon as I got to work. Now all I need is the Henny/wild cherry Pepsi that I had last night with one and my headache should go away. But for now…I am ok! Who says booze and pills don’t match?
On topic: I try to enjoy life…even when it sucks! It’s been a sucky year and a half for me. But My chicas know how to party and make the most of what I have. Instead of feeling down and depressed about what I DON’T have…I try to focus on what I DO have. I do have good health (minus a few little things). I have places to live in 2 different states. I have a vehicle. A wardrobe/shoes that could fashionably clothe a small country. I have my many talents. I have my family and friends…even though they are all a few fries short of a Happy Meal….then again so am I.
And most of all I have life and time to try to get the things I want and dream of. There are plenty of folks who do not have that option. I am trying to be optimistic that next year will be better than this one. I usually go away to the Caribbean for my birthday….but I was not able to do that this year. But instead I went to Atlantic City with my girls and just enjoyed the time spent with them. Maybe next year I will have a signifigant other in my life and we can make that trip together. If not…no sweat, my girls and I can go and have a ball! Don’t sweat the small stuff! Carpe Diem! Put on a costume just cause and go out and sing karaoke and get drunk and make a video of it. Then play it anytime you feel down because at that moment you felt nothing but good! It will make you laugh. Trust me. I look at the pictures and videos of my friends and I when I need a good laugh!

I am thankful to God for allowing me to wake up healthy every day this year. I am grateful for the wonderful job I was able to continue to come to this year. My family and friends are all healthy and employed. But of course the thing I am most grateful for is the new family I’ll be joining next year!
Having lived thru some tough family tragedies in years past, I discovered early in my adulthood that life is short and precious. As a result, each year I resolve to live each day to the fullest. And not allow anyone too much of my time that does not have my best interests at heart.

I use the coming of a new year as a milestone to reflect on where I’ve been, where I’m at and where I want to go. Making resolutions can work if you can discipline yourself to stick to them and maintain them. I don’t make resolutions per se, but I do try to be resolute about how I live and conduct myself. I usually get kinda melancholy around this time but I’m not this year…no need to be. I have alot to be thankful for and I also realize how blessed I am and that’s what I choose to focus on.
Sass – I usually get a little sad too. In fact, I get a little sad around Christmas too, but it usually hits it’s high around New Years. I think about loved ones I’ve lost. All the hype preparing for Christmas and then the letdown seeing all the decorations packed away. But I refuse to focus on that, like you said. Too much to be happy about!

I always try to make resolutions and fail at most of them! This year, though, I want to focus more on living for the day and not worry so much about the future. I want to enjoy everything that I currently have in my life. I want to let go of my relationship fears…fears are toxic in a relationship. I stop making New Year resolutions some years ago. However I have been thinking a lot in pass several days and weeks of how I want to better me. I am striving to embrace and fully live the essence of the beautiful that I know I can be inside and out.

Not saying killing dogs is no big deal, but I love how Fox promotes these jokers who wants people who kill a few dogs to be executed but mercenaries who kill humans for sport (Blackwater, etc) to get billions of dollars of government contracts and corporations that kill entire ecosystems (BP, ExxonMobil, etc) and companies that destroy entire families’ lives (BofA, Countrywide, Chase, Wells Fargo, AIG, etc) to get billions in government bailouts. Walk me through that thought process.

I don’t really care one way or the other about Vick’s success. He served his time and is doing well…good for him. I personally just don’t like him because of what he did. I also don’t like any person who kills people. Good for him for getting a second chance and for taking advantage of it. A lot of people pay their debt and go back to being criminals…look at the guy who killed that officer the other day. He’s been in jail 18 times…he should have never been on the streets. It’s a shame.

I believe he’s living well because what he got was unfair, unbalanced and biased. There are many wrongs that’s gonna get “righted” in time. Our judicial system (laws of the land) was ordained and put in place to govern and rightly execute judgement for wrongs and crimes but when those in place become obscure and fail to rightly hear and pass judgement accordingly and as intended by the law, then you can trust God will do it…on his own, in his own time.

LOL BlackMagic. I think that is what happened with Lizzy this morning. I heard her thru the monitor moving around and whimpering. I figured she must have been having a bad dream. The rustling around stopped and about 10 minutes later she was in full-blown crying fit.
She was wearing footy pjs thankfully so I didn’t have to change her sheets. But I did have to put her in the tub and put the pjs and undershirt in the washer.

Funny you should mention that Slim. LOL When my youngest son was about 3 or 4 he got a virus from somewhere. He messed pants so I stood him in the tub to take his clothes off and get him cleaned up. @2CP – I do believe in redemption. The fact is, that if you commit a crime, there will be people out there that will never forgive or forget, no matter if you’ve paid your debt to society. To me, it depends on the severity of the crime…
Heck, my boyfriend was in prison overseas for a stupid mistake he made. He paid his dues and is a better person for it. Actually, I wouldn’t be with him had he not gone through what he did because he has totally changed from the person I knew before. His penalty was actually very harsh for his crime, but he got caught in a country in S. America, which is known for inhumane conditions in prison. He has redeemed himself, but there will always be people who will continue to judge him for doing what he did. He will always be considered a criminal to many people even though he did not do anything too bad.

Slim, my dad comes from very humble beginnings so he grew up on foods like that. His grandfather raised him and he said most of their meals were scrapping and leftovers from other people. His gramps would make she-pies and casseroles out of the different foods he could get his hands on.
He and my mother did pretty good for themselves in careers and we did not have to depend on the gifts of other for food but my dad would still every so often make a dish that he so often ate growing up.
His she-pies were pretty good. He made some a few time that looks like what we know today to be a calzones. But on one end it had regular food (a cheesy ground beef mixture) and on the other end it would have some type of dessert like apple pie or potato cobbler. It was fun to eat as a kid.

I believe people can redeem themselves from prison not all prisoners are bad ones and yeah they will always carry that stigma of prison and it is unfair for some but that’s just the way this systems works it’s unfair to all no matter what. Example I think of is the pro football player that killed a pedestrian while impaired got off with a misdemeanor and fine when Vick spent 2 years in prison for dog fighting. Where’s the fairness in that?

Slim, you cheese bread reminds me of the time my brother and I tried to make smores using the flame on the stove. Had melted marshmellow and chocolate all over the place. LOL He and I both had to clean the kitchen everyday for like a month a piece.
I think the only thing topped that was when my oldest brother made a pizza in the oven. Burnt cheese all in the oven.

@Blackfoote…I agree that the different treatment between those players (or anyone else in that situation) is unacceptable. The one who killed a pedestrian while impaired should have spent a good amount of time in prison. It all depends on the lawyers, judge, and money you spend. It’s a sad system!

Beautiful – I recall my cousin sent me a text freaking out one day. She went to visit a guy friend out of town and ended up with the BG’s. The bad thing was she got suckered with one of those tricky bathrooms and the toilet ended up overflowing. She said she was SOOOOOOOOOO embarassed that he ended up having to come fix it. So not sexy. lmao! I like to get into that comfortable part of a relationship where I can be in the shower and dude will be taking a dump & talking to me. I choose to believe the legalization of alcohol is responsible for the many fatalities from people getting behind the wheel drunk. The government made it legal to buy. Although driving drunk is still against the law, that liquid courage has overshadowed rational thoughts for many individuals. Legalizing other drugs will do the same. Give them that ‘courage’ overriding being responsible.

Celisea, I agree. While laws don’t make all do the right thing all the time, it does make some think twice and not do.
Yeah, I get to the stop sign or light many times rushing and want to run it when there are no cars around, but not only is it against the law and I may get a ticket but that law protects me from having a car going 45 run into the side of mine.

Making it legal made the product more accesible.

The jail right now if filled with folks doing what they wanted and what felt alright to do…no regard for other folks homes, properties, lives. Heck I’ve been burglarized twice as recent last month and they tore my house up….cut all lines, backup lines everything…killed the power and all. They’d tried before but couldn’t get the alarm to shut off soooo, they studied how to get it done a second time. Yeah, we need laws, jails, prisons…you name it.

Oh and I’ll go further since we’re talking folks doing whatever the heck they feel like doing….some nut that walked on in my yard, on my porch rang my door bell…more than once. When I asked him to leave on the 2nd visit he went ballistic…yeah, had to call the cops. Dude threatened to hurt me if I asked him to leave again OFF MY PROPERTY!!! But ya’ll say no order no laws. Well dude just felt it was his right to come on my property and when I wasn’t cool tripped on my…in my yard, violating my rights, threatening my life….all cause that’s what he felt like doing…no regard for me and mine..gheesh

Wasn’t born with any eyebrows. I pencil mine in. Don’t go anywhere without my eyebrows on, not even to answer the front door. But, today, I don’t give a damn. I’m a lil buzzed from last night and can’t get them on properly so I said WTF, no eyebrows for the moment. Will try again when I have to pick lil leggs up from practice.
Speaking of eyebrows, I’ll never forget the day lil leggs yelled upstairs, “Mommy, we have company put your eyebrows on.” I said Damn to myself and then laughed.

Leggs – ok a few months ago I noticed a young lady with drawn in eyebrows. I was a bit disturbed to see that it was apparent she failed to bring her umbrella to work that day. Did any of you catch the news yesterday and saw the segment of a woman being dragged into the woods of No.Decatur Road and sexually assualted? It was my best friend. She wasn’t raped, but he held a gun to her head and had her unzip his pants and place in her mouth. He told her if she bit him he would shoot her. I rushed to her home yesterday morning and have been talking with her through the night and this morning. I don’t know how else to comfort her but be her sounding board.

2CPTG, no not on the payroll but I do work for him. He pays me $125 a week to do some small financial stuff for him. Sometimes I go into the office and sometimes he brings it home for me.
His employees considers me one of them because he doesn’t cut me any slack when I am there. He bosses me around just like he does them. LOL However I get back at him and they can’t.

I was talking to a guy named Randy when the hub and I got together. When I would talk to Randy I could tell he sometimes strategically placed his words as to not be straight with me. The hub on the other hand would say “woman you are crazy” if that is what he was thinking at the time. I like that. We were both “naked” with each other.

Last night I was asked to date a man who has worked for the Post Office for about 15 years and is about to buy a brand new home. He is a responsible man who has a great foundation that every single woman is looking for.
Well, we started talking about sex. He mentions that he wants it/sex EVERYDAY! Even on the days were she is sore. He also mentioned that if she can’t have sex because of being out of commission for a couple of day, there’s oral. I see this as selfish and got really turned off.
Plus, his sense of humor is kinda irritating. He laughs at himself, which are things that are not funny to me.
What am I to do? I didn’t say yes or no because the question came at me by surprise and I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
