Cyber Monday: Date shopping

Welcome back everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. I cooked my first Thanksgiving meal and there are no reports of ER visits, so I think I can call it a success! How was your holiday?

Today has been deemed Cyber Monday for online shoppers to get great deals. There are also some people who chose this weekend to jump into online dating!

There is something about this time of year that make conditions optimal for setting up a profile, posting a picture, and sifting through the many websites for potential romance.

Will you give it a shot? I believe some websites are even offering free features that normally cost money, so is it a good time to see what’s out there?

I haven’t tried online dating in years and I am a little gun shy about it, admittedly. Do you think people who are online dating have true intentions for a meaningful relationships for the most part?

How do you spot the players? For those of you who have tried online dating and found success, what do you think helped?

Happy Monday!

Slim — I used to contract in the IT department for the GA Dept of Corrections… You’d be amazed how many relationships develop between the prison staff and the inmates.

I have to say, though… I had to go to both of the big women’s prisons in the state & all I can say is real female prisoners look nothing like the ones from the p0rn movies, to my bitter disappointment… I’m pretty sure any one of those heifers could & would have f@#%ed me to death — and it would NOT have been a good way to go…

Yes kimmie, not your usual turkey day in the south feast.
I liked some of the dishes however if I were to make them it would not be for turkey day or Christmas dinners.

We had German potato salad which was good. Made very different from what I am used to but good. I didn’t care for the green beans nor the stuffing. The butternut squash casserole was good though. Also a dish I wouldn’t mind trying to make myself.

On the way the home my hub did ask me to cook a turkey day kind of dinner for this Sunday. He ate but he still wants what he is used to. LOL

hell, I could be talking to boo foo the rapist!!

You could be talking to Usher Raymond too. And either way they could be a rapist. Unless you saw him on America’s Most Wanted, how would you know?

swiss – i can see a staff member having relations with the inmates but to want to haul off and get married is something totally different. BUT different strokes for different folks i suppose. I’m glad you made it out unscathed.

LOL czBrat I won’t tell anyone.

With all the shopping I did Friday and have done this morning I haven’t bought myself anything. I am have pretty much concentrating on getting my list done. Only a couple of more things and I will be done.

Most of the stuff I bought today is for people on my husband’s list. I had been asking him to give me his list but he took his time. Had I had it last week I could have bought some of it Friday.

It’s mostly gifts for his elderly relatives and we will be delivering those the week before Christmas. We are going to drive to VA, take a week and visit with his family. I want to have all the gifts here and wrapped by the 11th.

Leggs, i love it when they say there’s no pic on the profile because they don’t want you to respond based on looks … but they assure you they’re drop-dead gorgeous. well, that may very well be but so what? put up (the pic) or shut up.

Sorry it’s impolite to not comment on the topic.

I have never tried online dating. I have a friend that signed with several sites but never came across a keeper. I think she said she stopped when she met up with a guy that just so happened to be an ex of hers. He was going my his middle name and didn’t post a picture.

it makes absolutely no sense to go to an online dating site and not post your pic

Exactly!! I was thinking the same thing with the winking, poking, etc. However, it was enough already when you receive them from 40+ year old guys….we are grown adults so grow up! It may be cute to some, however it is so not cool to me.

It makes sense when you are a little higher in the food chain and don’t want someone like your employees find out about your online dating profile. You just have to accept that online dating wont’ be very effective for you. But there are people who are willing to “date in the dark.”

Rock/kimmie – I had a friend post on his FB status on Thursday that he was invited to a dinner expecting soul food and not international Whole Foods.

His post later in the day, “It says something about your cooking abilities when NObody takes a to go plate.”

I tell ya with all these free shipping deals if these were not elderly relatives that we actually want to go visit I would have this stuff shipped directly to them. LOL

YEP!! LMBO

Some of the dishes we had were pretty good but just not ‘holidayish’ as we know it to be. But come to think of it I don’t think my brother nor sister took anything back home with them. LOL I know we didn’t bring anything back. And we did not eat leftovers on Friday nor Saturday.

@RaqiV ~ I sho hope all that shopping will yield me a nice present. Carry on….

@SlimNU ~ I watched that Oprah episode with her being all giddy about marrying that “lifer” and concealing her tight purple top with her son teenage son standing beside her. To each his own, but it puts a new twist on “lack of sex once you get married!”

There were 21 people there for breakfast and dinner. Since I did not help with dinner I cooked breakfast that morning. My dad’s wife granddaughter helped me.

We were up at 6am cooking eggs, grits, bacon, beef sausage links, pan sausage, hash brown, biscuits and waffles for 21 people. Breakfast was so big only the smaller kids and my dad really ate something for lunch that day.

Leggs, I think your name was on that list Mase and I decided to table this year. LOL

Seriously though we scaled back on gifts this year. Instead of gifts for each and every niece and nephew I looked for family gifts. One gift per household where I could.

Just one of many cutbacks that I am doing.

Delight – 8 times out of 10, they did have grills standing in the I’m So Hood pose on their profile pic. lol

Leggs – ole boy said he expected her to remain faithful to him too. smh! I can be single and not get any sexing…why get married to STILL not get no sexing. Beats da hellz outta me why anyone would want that for themselves.

Pic or no pic…it does not matter really…i have pulled all manner of women with a pic or no pic…you just have to know your audience…different folks look for different things..whats funny is that some people men and women go spend a lil money and take good photos..but when you meet them in natural light..you are like who are you…i thought you were lighter..lol..Also it was a minute before i figured out the bbw hustle..where they take certain shots to hide from the neck down…the list goes on and on…I still find it funny when the profile starts to unravel and you find out the real motivation behind online dating…i just chuckle on the inside..
