I can attest to the fact that “the art of being single” isn’t perfected by everyone. Some people are the type that has to have someone in their life at all times. You know, the serial monogamists who go from one relationship to the next with little to no break between. I don’t think it’s a good thing or bad thing, personally. It’s a matter of personal preference and really great timing, but it’s rare that I meet a man who admits to needing a woman in his life.
I have, however, met and dated newly single divorcees who have that whole “nestling” thing going. This is when they immediately want someone to feel the void of their ex-wife. Almost anyone one will do, really. It’s like being the ultimate rebound girl, except with home-cooked meal requests.
Do you believe men dislike being single? Is it a myth that having all that freedom is the reason why men delay marriage?
Ladies, has a man ever told you that he doesn’t mind being single? Do you meet men who actively seek a relationship and don’t mind admitting it?

@bigdawg – Blue: I prefer to date women with children. They understand when “something” comes up. – yeah, moms, by default, must learn more patience. and its needed when the “i shouldnt have to deal with him (the daddy)” cr@p comes up. its a package deal people, and for us who’s baby daddys are still hanging around, thats part of the package…

As far as ROI goes, most chicks don’t bring much to the table — not speaking financially here, as I think that any man that concerns himself with a woman’s finances is either a wimp or can’t afford a woman — I’m talking about what she can bring that improves the way of life.
Chicks bring a lot of unnecessary drama. Mendacity is a way of life for them. They can easily get quite bossy, wanting everything their own way, not allowing a man to lead. It’s a hassle, and I’d gotten to where I was quite happy to do without all that.
That is, except for my girl. There are exceptions to everything. She’s still a female, for sure, but she brings intangible value that enhances the quality of our lives, and it makes it worth it.

Morning All!
I’ve observed that quite a few widowed men will be quick to marry again because they are used to that companionship. A lot of the times they will remarry quicker than a divorced guy.
It’s nothing worse than a bitter divorced man though.
That’s all I have today on the subject. Can’t speak for men, just what I’ve observed over the years.

Kym and kimmie, I am not cooking for Turkey Day but sister has warned me that my dad’s wife is a modern turkey day cooker. They had turkey day with them one year and she says it’s very ‘fancy’. Not your usual eat-til-you-are-stuffed fest. LOL No mashed potatoes, no dressing, no turnip green, etc. She warned me to cook here at home so my family will have what they know thanksgiving to be when we get back but I told her we will just go to her house Friday for a remix of this year’s turkey day.

I’m 45 and have never been married. I’ve had some great long term relationships that never evolved towards marriage. Many of my friends are married and for the most part seem rather miserable. If I could point to a few examples of married couples that seem genuinely good together, I might consider taking the plunge. As it is now, I still enjoy being single.

@abc
“affording a woman” and “not allowing a man to lead” are along the same lines of foolish thinking – I expect better of you.
Affording “a woman” is affording her the lifestyle that you want to share with her (as your noted gifts to your girl have suggested). But it’s also affording the life you plan to build together, and unless you’re – the nebulous you- getting money like that, that is getting harder each day.
Also, “letting a man lead” the single silliest phrase in the ethos.
I lead, she follows, or not. But to ride on this train, I’m the conductor. She can’t let me do nothing..

kimmie, I look forward to this time of the year because of the traditional turkey day and Christmas menus. Other than the veggies my holiday meals are usually stuff that I don’t make throughout the year.
My sis says my dad’s wife has Cornish hens, stuffing that is more loose and coarse than how we normally make dressing, cranberry green beans…pretty much stuff my guys probably will not eat much of.

Kym, exactly on that statement of what holidays are. LOL
My guys like mashed potatoes, dressing, turkey all covered in gravy. Green beans cooked with hamhocks. Macaroni and cheese. All the stuff that is not good for you but you get a pass for the holidays.
I am looking forward to watching Family Feud with my dad. Every day I talk to him he has either just finished watching it or is getting ready to watch it. I am going to make sure I watch it with him at least once while we are there.
