I vote that we date

Happy Election Day! I hope you are all at the polls today because it’s so important to vote.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m older now and have more at stake, but politics has become some what of a fixation. I usually don’t talk politics when I’m just meeting someone new. I figure that I should get to know a person before I start letting politics get in the way.

Do you feel pressure to date within your political party? Would it be difficult to date someone with opposing political views?

I think I would be willing to date someone with different ideals than I but I can’t recall having done so before.

I’m the type that have ideals across the spectrum so I suppose it makes it a bit easier. What do you think our political views say about us and our compatibility in dating?

I enjoy the the back and forth that come with a good political debate…I think the key is both parties being adult enough to respect the differences…..Morning Blue…How you doing girl????

Wassup good ppl

I have never had a problems with politics and sex or are we talking politics and dating. I guess thats a big difference. In dating we disagree on things all the time so it shouldn’t be such a big deal.

Ebonically speaking – Shawty, if you own vote, you lame as hell.

Morning All,

I’m a little on the fence with this topic. I do however want to at least approach the topic. I’ve found that I have a hard time clicking with a Woman who’s ALL THE WAY one way or who votes one side or the other without being able to distinguish the relevant topics. I need to know that you are engaged with the REAL World and not just the Reality world. I have no problem if your views differ from mine if we can at least articulate the reasons. Nothing worse than a blind follower.

Willie Dynamite, you hit the nail on the head for me when you said. “Nothing worse than a blind follower”. I respect everyone’s opinion as long as they used a sound thought process in coming to that opinion….not just because that is what everyone else is or they are the same as me or it’s the cool thing to do.

So are u guys riled enough to vote seeing that the ‘ghetto grandmothers’ and’ Obama,’don’t know where he was born’ and ‘voting rights’ are under current themes on the other side?

Do AAs ever get angry enough to flood the polling stations in a bid to see things change?
They(most) seem to take things for granted, based on my
observations since living here.
Folks now have health care till they are 26 and they don’t seem to care!

There was a line at my polling place this morning…and that made me smile. There was a guy who almost walked out because he’d filled out his form wrong. (The first lady didn’t catch it.) He was like, “Oh, I got to get to work.” The second poll worker allowed him to get in line anyway and made the first lady fill his form out correctly and just had him sign it.

I let him go in front of me because he was rushed. So did the next two people. He moved to the front of the line. Everyone in that room was determine that this man vote and didn’t mind waiting a few extra minutes.

For me, that was powerful.

Zulu – It was a line out of the door when I early voted 2 weeks ago. And one of my coworkers went to vote this morn at the govt office near us and she said the line was worse than when she voted in 2008. Back then I went to the same office to early vote and waited 3 hours.

Didn’t mind the wait a bit. But in my proud AA side of town, we’ve always been very politically active. Don’t know about those folks you are around.

U know in Vernon Jones county that’s like Africa. I’m sure they are putting Hank Johnson back to Congress just because although I would have preferred a more worthy challenger from the same camp!

That ‘tipping over’ comment he made way back was just dumb, but I will let him slide coz the stakes are high!

Barnes might just squeak in if the AA turn out his high. Surely GA can’t let a financially irresponsible and ethically challenged guy be for the cash register.

Can we really be dumber politically than #48 on the education front?

I mean, if you or I got up and said some of the foolish things some of these folks have said, we’d be run out of town! A lot of it insults my intelligence!
