Do you believe in karma?

I took a quick trip to Savannah this weekend and I had a ball. I absolutely love it there and going on Halloween weekend only made it more…interesting. We took one of those ghosts and graveyard tours throughout historical parts of the city. A lot of history there!

As I was putting on a brave front, I was thinking that it was a good thing I didn’t have any bad karma coming my way. That would probably have been a good time to pay for something I had done to somebody else…well, if you believe in that sort of thing.

Do you believe in karma? Do you find comfort knowing that people that have treated you horribly in relationships will one day end up miserable?

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?!

Christianity is incompatible with itself. “As you sow, so shall you reap” — and yet one’s salvation is through god’s grace alone (and has nothing to do with the life one has lived — apart from “accepting” god’s grace, whatever that means).

Why do most women act on blogs like they are afraid of s3x but in real life they talk about it more than we do, act on it almost as much as we do and typically need it more than we do.

@ a hindu: hiya – i think maybe that’s a matter of ‘adaption’, akin to that which accompanies most attempts by people of one culture to understand beliefs and customs of another.

to the best of my recollection, there are, within the hindu belief system (in which, i believe, the tenet of ‘karma’ originated) several types of karma. one (prarabadha) refers to the basic staging of an individual’s current life – things external to that individual such as birthplace, the social or economic strata into which one is born, etc. it is believed that this sort of karma is based on indelible impressions carried over from one’s previous life.

another (samchita) refers to the role these impressions play in the formation of one’s personality and character – this type of karma is somewhat malleable, in that it can be affected by one’s actions in one’s current life.

there is also a karma (agami) that is constructed during any one life, completely malleable, in that it is not only affected, but created by one’s actions in that life. THIS karma, it seems, is the one most of us are talking about today.

there are variations, of course, within the buddhist belief system, western new-age theosophies, etc. – just as there are variations – more commonly called denominations – of christianity, or dialects of language.

altho reincarnation or transmigration of the soul is implicit in some belief systems with regard to certain types of karma, karma does not MEAN reincarnation.

karma means ‘action-seed-result’, and in the context of western – frequently philosophical or spiritual as opposed to religious – belief, has been adapted (or misunderstood?) to express simply the basic principle of cause and effect as regards one’s character, behavior and choices. this does not necessitate a belief in reincarnation, a disbelief in any god or gods, or a diametrical opposition to christianity.

am i close?

Good afternoon to all!!

If you guy are still on topic, all I can say is what you emanate is what you get in all facets of your life!!! For everything you do there is a cause and effect that may or may not be beneficial. There’s a reaction to all that we do. Even when we sit quietly, there’s a cause and effect.

@White Man I don’t believe everyone who has been married 7+ years has had an itch at 7 years AND have in any case acted on any of their “itches”. Not saying people don’t have “itches” but I don’t believe every person cheats or will cheat. But I do believe a large proportion of the general public does….
