Learn your lesson, then run away

Kanye West has a pretty interesting music video for his song Runaway. If you haven’t seen it yet, you may want to listen to the song first and then watch it. I believe there is a lot of symbolism in it but the song relates to a lot of what single people go through in dating.

One part of the song: “I always find something wrong” kind of hits home because this is classic commitment phobic thinking. You know how things can go really great and you get spooked by it and start to search for random things to justify you running away? That won’t stop happening until you catch yourself doing it. Hindsight is 20/20 but if you can find out that you are ruining a potentially great romance, you probably won’t regret taking a chance.

Of course, the song also refers to those jerks and scumbags that we should run away from (or stop acting like!) and this made me think about all my exes. Some of my worst relationships taught me the most. That’s kind of invaluable when you think about it!

What did you learn from your worst dating experience?

Do you have a problem of “always finding something wrong” in the people that you date? Do you recognize it before or after?

@Celisea ~ of course you learned something. If you hadn’t, your gut wouldn’t have spoken to you so you can get most of the questions correct.

2Can – I can attest, “it” talks all the time. When you wanna let that old man creep up and out, it speaks before you can think twice. When you wanna slap the fie out of a crazed co-worker, it speaks to you to pull back and let the devil be the devil and leave it to God. Yep….you must know, huh?

random rant: dear atlantians, atlians, whatever your called: 1) please stop trying to use your best “New York” accent when talking to me. i know the real thing when i hear it, and that aint it. its just annoying and leaves me wanting to slap you. 2)”Jersey Shore” on MTV is not a documentary. it is not representative of all folks from Jersey or all folks from the North. no i dont have a spray an orange spray tan, no im not always chewing gum, and no we dont all fall out drunk in public….
end of rant….

2C – on Holy spirit topic…i’m not sure what necessarily constitutes whether one has had it or not, as I would think it’s up to that individual experience…However, I’ve been known to sing in the shower and there are a few gospel songs I will sing…One day I was just a showering and singing really getting into the message of the song (Luther Barnes – I’m still holding on) and I felt a tingling all over my body. I didn’t fight it because I was alone. I got goosebumps all over and for whatever reason I just began to cry and kept on singing. I’ve never told anyone about it until today now. Is that the “Holy Spirit or Ghost”????

blue that was funny!

when i was in college, I always hated those “upstate” kids who were overly “upstate” if you know what i mean. Or the ones who would try to say Shawty just sounds diff with a northern accent LOL. and the ones who would try to be funny and be like you from “jaw-juh” i’d be like i have no idea where that is cause i’m from Georgia.

Off topic:

PSA for anyone who hasn’t yet voted: Please research the full text of the “Amendment 1″ ballot initiative in GA before voting (if you haven’t already). While the wording of most ballot initiatives tend to be extremely slanted, this one takes the cake.

Here’s a link to an article containing the full text of the proposed amendment.

And here is how the ballot question is posed:

“Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to make Georgia more economically competitively authorizing legislation to uphold reasonable competitive agreements?”

I swear, politics makes me sad…

Slim – It’s a “consummation” for lack of a better term, between you and God, one that’s felt and real…not all the “showy” stuff you see on T.V. When you have and you have it FOR REAL, you’ll know it. Nothing anybody can EVER take and from the moment you accept and have it, it’s there with you…everyday. It’s what talks, teaches, leads and guides. It’s like the stuff you do or normally do or have done or like to induldge…when you have it, the urge to do those things aren’t gone as you’re human but that thing that whispers or worries or you can’t get away from when you stepped back into something you know is not pleasing to God…you can’t shake it. Got a concious? We all do. Just like it kicks in and sort of nudge you when you shouldn’t do or shouldn’t have done something, this works the same way but stronger.

Sassy — What Amendment 1 would actually do is give the government the ability to enforce all sorts of non-compete agreements, limiting competition (including employee’s rights to leave their current company and go to work for a competitor).

Basically Amend. 1 if asking for state government to make it lawful for businesses to enforce non-compete agreements on employees if/when they leave the company, preventing them from getting another job with a competitor or in the same line of work by starting their own company- VOTE NO!! As high as the unemployment rate is, why would you want to stop someone from getting a job. Wake Up Georgians—-Be prepared and read up on these proposed amendments.

It could also extend to businesses where a division of a company is sold to another company and they sign non-compete agreements to not start up another similar division that targets the same market with similar materials or product. Either way, the Amendment is trying to limit free-enterprise and also limit employees from going to work for a competitor, that could take customers away from their former company…i.e. sales companies, manufacturing plants, -highly competitive businesses.
