Do single men feel pressure to marry?

I was lamenting with a friend of mine about no longer being eligible to donate my eggs to infertile couples.   For some random reason this bummed me out!  Normal single women have biological clocks that inch them towards marriage.  Yours truly? I want to cling to the option of donating eggs. I know, I’ve always been a little strange, but I digress.

My friend consoled me by saying I may not be the perfect candidate to donate eggs but I would still make a great wife.  He said that as a man, even with the option to have children at a later age, he has felt pressure to become a husband.

Awesome compliment aside (thanks Greg!),  what he said me wonder about pressure single men have about relationships and  marriage.   Is it the same kind of pressure society places on women (and our ovaries!) and how do men handle it?

When men see their friends and peers getting married, do they get the feeling as if they are being left behind?

Ladies, do you think that a man past a certain age that has remain unmarried is still marriage material?

“does having sex without a condom mean the guy has feelings for the woman?”

No. It means either:

1) He just saw her lab results.

or

2) He’s feeling lucky.

or

3) She’s so hot, it’s worth the herp.

I would never move into a chick’s house.

Couple’s could stack so much chips and build for their future if men could put their egos aside in instances such as this. If her house is bigger and it just makes more practical sense, I’d hope my man would be on board.

AmazonRed, I disagree during the winter a Hummer get ‘er done. Where other 4×4’s cant hang the advantage is more rear wheel tracking and the can forge up to 4ft of water with no engine damage unlike pickup and other SUV’s. The majority of the year is slush deep mud and snow they are excellent people movers. Now why people put rims on them and never take them off road I don’t know. They can also tow a laden trailer through all of the elements no problem. Thing is when people but a truck at home they tend to keep it forever. Tons of farmers started buying them up once the price dropped. If your tractor or grainer gets stuck a Hummer will pull it out without even sneezing. LOL

I think Kym’s question is a good one. I want to know the answer to the condom question as well…..all you blog men, lurkers alike chime in on that one. We’ll go with the general consensus. While I feel it depends on the individual, as Swiss stated it could just be a matter of being carelss, someone else said they feel that level of trust.

I think another reason families have problems is because everyone wants to move into a bigger house. You work all day then come home and have all of that space to be seprated That is not always good, to much space. A home needs to be nice a cozy IMO

4Real –  My arguement actually was that each couple should do what works for their situation.

And for the record, my “men do it everyday” comment was not about a man moving into his wifes house, though it does happen quite a bit. It was about how SOME men throw it up in their wives faces that it’s HIS house, so she basically has to put up with whatever he decides to dish out. If both names are on the deed, or they buy a home together, that eliminates that arguement.

But I guess that’s a little too RATIONAL, coming from a female, isn’t it 4Realster?

Ared: Ego has nothing to do with it. It’s a man’s character and accepting responsibility of taking care of the women he married. Like I said women are irrational and are prone to make dcision based on emotions period. You may not like it but it is the truth. Every women on this planet that has a little of something is bound to have bouts of I.N.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.N.T and SELFISHNESS. Thus, causing strife in the home of any man that’s living in his woman’s house (even if his name is on the deed). As for stacking chips and building for the future I hope you will signoff on ole boys investment plan before marrying him cause quiet as it is kept a house is not an asset.

Depends on the man.

Purple Rain – I totally agree. I grew up in a house that was probably 1000 square feet. There were 5 of us. We had to be close.

A house is a place to live. Asset or not. If you have a home that’s easily affordable by ONE, it make sense to stay in it and get to live more comfortably. Travel more, stay home with the kids. Not be crippled by a mortgage payment (or two payments cuz her house cant sell) to make a man feel better about not living a home she had before she met him.

SexyCool, yeah definitely for inner city living. Everything is going way of Green Building/LEED these days, i.e. Atlantic Station and the like. You have living space, work, shopping and dining all within walking or bicycle riding distance.

Those living spaces are really small too. Mase and I looked at a couple that he wanted to buy as investments when the market hit bottom. The units we looked are were less than 1,000sqft.

Loft living is being encouraged now and the younger generations are buying into it. Most larger houses after a while will only be found on the outskirts of big cities.

Purple – The first thing my SO said on his initial visit to my house was that he liked it because it was cozy. I do love it. It is a small starter house, but perfect for me.

His house is quite large, but still has a coziness factor to it. Good use of most of the space in it and it is “liveable”, not one of those fancy places where you are scared to sit on the furniture. With 2 active kids and pets, it’s practical yet attractive.

And no it’s not a broad stroke either. There are three things that will get a consensus from every single man on this planet (i) Sports is great (ii) Beer/Alcohol is great and (iii) Women are irrational. And yes we are cool and no I’m a sexist.
