Online love is a battlefield too?
I have to hand to the single people who are online dating these days. Seriously, you are true soldiers of love! A lot of us go online, create a profile, answer the billion personality questions, load a picture, then actually communicate with potential dates. That takes focus and effort that some people don’t even put into “offline” dating!
I think people are used to doing it now so the rules of engagement, as it were, are easier to determine and perhaps better then it used to be. What kind of things should you always consider when deciding to date online? How do you gauge real interest? It seems that the physical attraction (or lack thereof) is the biggest hurdle to clear in the beginning. What do you think makes it easier to offset that challenge?
Have you tried online dating recently? Do you believe it has lead to good matches? If you had to put a profile up, what sorts of things would get your attention? Humor and wit, racy pictures?
The matchmaker, Paul Brunson who guest blogged for us (aka Real Life “Hitch” ) has taken to Twitter to connect single people from all over! It’s very interesting to see the questions that people want to ask the bachelor/bachelorette.

Kimmie – I grew up in a small town church too. Those pastors, deacons, ushers and board members need to be watched as well. Especially around young girls and boys. They don’t seem to think what they are doing is wrong. They need to learn how to keep their hands to themselves.
And no blog family, not me, buy my sister and several cousins still have issues because of the “church”.

@swiss one complaint stated the boys were 16 or 15, in GA according to the complaint they had a right to consent, so that is not the problem they are going after EL using coersion and his fiduary (sp) responsibility.

Dream, I like to watch stargazer after the Charlie Rose show, 1:30am on PBA30. All last week, he was talking about this particular harvest moon. The official full moon will occur 8 hrs after the offical beginning of fall at 11:09 pm tonight. Because of that, the moon will appear larger for three nights, 22,23&24. The last time this happened was 1991. I hope there is no overcast tonight.

On topic: I tried the on line dating thing ONCE and it was horrible. I was looking quite nice and dude showed up in a ratty t-shirt,jeans and some old leather shoes. I tried to look past that but it didn’t work. We met up at Vino Libro and I tried to make the most of it but this dude was crass, and rude/pushy with the wait staff. YUCK!!!
Off topic: I’m torn about the EL situation b/c nothing’s been proven…just allegations BUUT if these things turn out to indeed be true then there are several things to be learned from this.
1. He’s still a (hu)man…not God and we all fall short of His Glory
2. This will be the ultimate test of faith/forgiveness for his followers/parishoners. Faith to stand by/with him and the power to forgive cause that’s what the “word” says(who will do it and who will not remains to be seen)
3. In the event that these allegations are not true this also proves that the devil is busy.
It’s just sad all the way around. We’ve all heard of or seen wrong doing in the church…look at the molestations in the Catholic church that’s been rampant but unspoken of until recently..just that alone makes me think it very well could be possible any/everywhere.

@Mayor McCheese..they were 17/18 both above the age of consent. The suit isn’t about molestation..so much as Bishop preyed on the young men’s innocent natures at the time..they are alleging..that the school officials knew about the “relationships” but turned a blind eye. Which falls inline with what 2C said about henchmen..BJ Bernstein got pictures, emails, text..etc..so I hope Bishop uses his own checkbook and not the church..then again some folks get so brainwashed they might start a legal fund for him.

Lol Lady, we had/have a Deacon and a Trustee board and my mom wonders why I had to ease away from the tiny church, i like the medium sized churches not mega, but not storefront.
And also what you said about not even giving the look of inappropriate, honey my old boss was quick to say the two things that will get you in trouble the fastest (in education) are Sex & Money. I think that applies to the church also.

I agree with you and look at the Pastor’s of the 80’s Baker (bless his sweet soul), Swaggert and others they all have a vice. At the end of the day like you said this is the ultimate test of faith and forgiveness. NO I am not for everybody, because I really have a low tolerance for BS and double standards. IMO it is kinda like a cop only writing tickets in certain communities, don’t do a witchhunt on just me if you are enforcing something enforce everything, or else I will call you out. I am united Methodist too myself. Went TP united Methodist boarding school. Nothing flashy about them and def no prosperity gospel thumping!
I went to seventh day sabaath this past Saturday, my wides preferred church. Those ladies dress really phoooine and I’m sure the pastors see a lot from their vantage point. Same with EL church.

I have never really done alot of online dating; but I hear the most success from match.com. The key is any site where you have to pay only attracts serious people.
I think social media is alot different from online dating. Its funny how a few years ago, you could easily meet someone off blackplanet and myspace without the stigma; but facebook is totally different. You are friends with people you never met or really see and they frown somewhat on meeting and potentially dating.
Regarding the EL situation, it is lighting twitter up. What is crazy though that nobody is talking about is:
