How much support do men need?

If you have ever watched HBO’s Entourage, you are familiar with the character, Ari Gold, played by Jeremy Piven.  Ari Gold is a foul-mouthed, raging jerk with a temper that makes you wonder how he has managed to get through the day without a black eye.  Since he is a Hollywood agent, this behavior manages to work for him in business.

In a recent episode, Ari’s wife walked out on him after his trademark public tirades embarrasses her.  Apparently he felt abandoned by his own wife.  She tells him that she refuses to sit by when her husband is acting like a classless idiot.  He says that is the exact moment when a wife should be supportive. (Paraphrasing)

I know loyalty and support is pretty high on a man’s mental list of what he needs from a woman.  When a man does not feel supported he is less likely to trust his partner to be there when he needs him.

So what happens when a man is dead wrong but still wants to be supported? How should a woman handle it? Does she keep her opinions to herself and offer him support and comfort?

How much support should a woman be willing to offer and provide when she does not agree with what he is doing or how he is handling it?

Is it fair to ask for the same loyalty and support from men that they need and want?

Guys, have you ever dated a woman who wasn’t accepting and supportive? Did you let her know that is what you thought about her?

Ladies, do you think women have a hard time supporting men in relationships? What have you learned about being supportive in a relationship? How did your mothers handle it?

Poppa, my son just walked in the door with his cell phone stuck to the side of his face talking to that girl. He just saw her no more than 1 minute ago. Her mother carpooled this week. I bet he dialed the number as he stepped out of the car.

Partying will be off the chain.

That will happen no matter if the team wins or not. My wife went to Spelman. So, I went to a Morehouse homecoming with her and noticed that most people didn’t even go to the game. They shut Lowery down. It was some good eatin’ and sippin’ going on, though.

Raqi when I was at The House, alot of dudes majored in Spelmanology. I admit to taking a class or two…ok maybe I minored. I also dabbled in Clarkology, Agnes Scottism, Emoryology, Geogia Stating, even took some out of state classes. lol

Is lurking really a bad thing? This blog has value. The insight and opinions you guys share are extremely helpful in navigating through some crazy things. Some days you do nothing more than validate that we’re not ALL crazy for thinking and feeling whatever silly things are floating through our minds.

IMO lurking is like sitting in the back of the classroom taking notes for the test of life.

LOL Leggs I think I was 16 the first time I let my boyfriend feel me up. In fact a whole lot of feeling me up was about as far as it went aside from some intense kissing for a whole 3 years.

Oh yeah, there was some dry humping in there too.

i never spent anytime at Spelman until I after marrying my wife.

Now, Ga State did have some classes that were worth putting on the schedule. UGA is very nice, too. GA State had the most diverse curriculum though. Something for everyone’s taste….

South Carolina was ok. Just not very diverse.

So, I concur that GA state was pretty good.

Danggit Elizabeth just walked in the room. Now I am sad. She will be 16 in less than 15 years.

I remember when my dad coming home one day when my sister and I were kids and he got straight out of his car and made my sister get off her bigwheel and sent her to her room. I later learned that he had seen his niece get out of man’s car scantily clad in a mini-skirt. He then lost it and wanted to lock my sister up. I think that my sister was 4 at the time. He later admitted that he was wrong that day, but at that moment realized that my sister wouldn’t always be his little girl. It was one of few times that I’ve seen him cry that wasn’t because of the death of a loved one.

Dreams, I must agree. I had so A&T Aggie pride on more than one occasion.

Too many relatives at FAMU and Bethune. So, I really was cautious around there. I had one experience where a FAMU female with whom I exchanged numbers later turned out to be a cousin. It was kinda awkward meeting at the family reunion. I never called her (which I know ticks some females off), but it turned out to be the best non-call or non-hookup ever.
