Careful with those compliments

I know this won’t support that whole “women aren’t complicated” argument I’ve had going on here but I have to be honest: Women like compliments….however men have to be careful how they lodge those things at us.  We tend to dislike when men are not complimentary but we also get turned off when it’s insincere.

Now, in our defense, ladies, we have certainly heard crazy and dumb stuff some men say to women.  We generally can tell when a guy is gaming us to get our phone numbers for sport hook ups; we also know when a guy is genuinely impressed with us.  There are times when a compliment can go all wrong and you actually feel insulted.

As my friend Damon Young recently noted,  “how the compliment is actually received depends primarily on the type of compliment you’re giving and the type of woman you’re complimenting.”  I couldn’t agree more.  Do men know that the type of compliments they offer can either sink or swim their chances with women?

How do men receive compliments?  Do you enjoy it when a woman pays you a compliment?  Should women be careful how they compliment you so that you feel flattered instead of ridiculed?

Can you think of the best compliment you ever received from someone?

@PR ~ the two 16 year olds may get probation, but I doubt the 19 year old will.

Melo, well I guess some pedigree is lacking in the paths I’ve crossed with certain women who have had both. LOL :)

Leggs – I can respect Kym and PR’s points. Whatever you decide, she does need to see what being a “bad” boy represents – the real, not the glamourized version. These are the same dudes that start out “borrowing” money from girl’s mama’s to pay for their dates, like that little boy did! Sorry I went there, but lil Leggs needs to know sometimes all those behaviors have a way of tying together.

Kym I saw this one case recently where a guy in the middle east caused someone to be paralyzed from an accident or something. So guess what the criminal is having surgery so he can be paralyzed to. Although if it were eye for an eye her in the states i would be dead now. :(

Leggs, they give adults probabtion here as well. He won’t get anytime. I am sure the legal eagles on here will agree.

Oh my, going back to the Old West immediately made me think of the movie “Gangs of New York.” That was one rough movie!

@kimmie ~ exactly my point, they all have a way of being tied together. Exactly! EXACTLY! They had to discuss for him to even agree to pay me back, so if a small fry like him doesn’t have any qualms about borrowing money from the mama, there’s no telling what he won’t have qualms about doing as he gets older!!!

@Leggs??

that lil boy that wanted to borrow money from u dont have stealing/robbing qualities…dont listen to Kimmie.

what u can read from him are potential playa qualities instead..using future mom-in law’s money to date her daughter, while losing none

Kinda like that “why buy the cow when the milk is free” mentality!

see..u neeed a man sometimes to read these things!

@PR ~ Kym said we should go back to the Old West in handling crime. They always had duals at sunset. When I think of meteing out a punishment or severe whoop arse, I think of that movie The Gangs of NY where they fought with machetes. Just brutal.

@PR ~ my child thought nothing of asking to borrow $20 so this boy could take her to the movie and that he would pay me back. Hell No! Probably this same little knucklehead would find the last seat in the left hand corner way at the top to act like they’re watching the movie.

@Melo ~ well he won’t be mastering his playa skills on my dub!

Melo – You are right too, except note what Leggs said – he & lil Leggs had to have a “discussion” for him to even agree to pay her back! That might not seem tied to future criminal behavior at first glance, but kids being raised to think that kind of stuff is okay only contributes to a slacker, freeloader mentality. The fact that somebody ELSE worked hard to aquire things is of no importance to them.

@Kimmie..but u cld ask the same qstion of what shes being tought about lil Leggs since she saw nothing wrong with it and took that mama and asked.

see,lil kids will be lil kids sometimes..it dont mean they necessarily have it in them..but if left unchecked(that adventerousness) cld do damage later.

I wld prefer a kid with a lil edge and street in them than one thats docile, str8ght and narrow all the dayme time.As long as im there to lead them in the right way.

Dan – And “pimpin”, jr or sr, isn’t CUTE! I certainly wouldn’t find it cute if it were MY daughter, much less someone elses.

Melo I’m not stupid, I get we all learn from mistakes and kids are going to make them. They are human. Some jr pimp just wouldn’t be making them at the expense of my kid, that’s all. Lil Leggs made a mistake too, by bringing that to her mom. It was actually a good thing because it became a learning experience. She’ll remember this years from now – what she decides to do with what she learned will be up to her when she becomes an adult.

Those kids that broke into Leggs house didn’t just become “bad” kids overnight. It started with small stuff they got away with, including slacking off. I notice everything about a person’s behavior and usually it all ends up adding up in the end.
