The danger of dating on the rebound

When you are fresh off of a break up, it seems that you suddenly meet a boatload of people that you feel drawn to.  It’s probably the void your ex left that is pushing you to fill it with the first hottie that gets your attention.  It’s hard to see this when you are going through it though.  This is just one of the risks involved in dating on the rebound.

When you meet someone new, we always say not to mention or bring up the ex, especially on a first date.  The problem is that if the ex isn’t completely out of their system…or the picture, you don’t know if they are truly ready to starting something meaningful with you.

If you have just ended a relationship, do you tell the new person in your life how recent the break up was?  Does it matter if the last relationship only ended days or weeks ago?

Have you ever been the rebound guy/girl for someone and it worked out great?

If you have just ended a relationship, do you tell the new person in your life how recent the break up was? New person?….what new person? After a breakup I retreat, reflect, heal and just do me. The last thing I focus on or even want to is a “new person”….it’s actually be a loooong time before I even entertain the idea, let alone act on it.

Does it matter if the last relationship only ended days or weeks ago Would you want to go into another situation….a fresh and new situation when you’re still licking wounds from an old one. That’s not fair to you or the other person involved….at least that’s how I see it.

Good Morning everybody,

I will be lurking for the entire week. I will very busy because I start my classes today so I have to start reading and writing papers. I am a bit nervous and excited about this whole journey.

It was nice meeting those who attended the happy hour on Friday. I apologize for not speaking too much. I will do better the next time.

Wishing everybody a great week!!

but she’s not gonna be a happy camper for a few weeks.

And neither are you Swissie…there are two sayings that you will hear through the course of your marriage: 1. Happy wife…happy life and after/if children come then the other is 2. If mama ain’t happy the HOUSE(meaning YOU) ain’t happy. I wish her a speedy recovery nonetheless, and hope all goes well for you two.

‘If you’re asking whether the rebound situation yielded satisfying sex and temporary companionship, then I’d say it worked out just fine.’

Dreams – basically, that’s what happens in a rebound situation. Sometimes folks just want to feel needed or have their egos stroked…so what better way to do that than get your ego and private area stroked at the same time. ;-)

Professor, we are doing what is called the “West Coat Swing” over the next few weeks. Las Vegas this week, Sacramento the following week then back to Vegas.

Kym, I will bring you back some oily clothes. We sleep at the track in the RV’s and Long Hauler Semi’s. We see no parts of the hotels or fun stuff. I am happy I do not have to take the Road Trips anymore. They haul the equipment and the cars and we fly there once they arrive. Then fly home while they drive to the next destination then we fly back out again. :) Promotion has it’s privileges :)

Professor, I know. I was just trying to be humorous because he was not always a Jehovah’s Witness. They say that birthdays are pagan holidays, that were only celebrated twice in the Bible and on one of those celebrations John the Baptist was beheaded and on the other one I think someone had their cook hanged. :)

I do not like green eggs and ham…that’s what you sound like LadyJ with that rhyme.

Anyway, for all of you who espouse that getting under someone is the best policy for getting over someone, is this a true sentiment. I would think that although your physical needs are met, once you get from under that person your heart is still heavy, the wounds still fresh and you’re still alone. So, for you, how does a physical release help with your mental healing???

Professor, “West Coast” swing is fun if you are into racing and camping. :) We grille and drink every night if testing goes well. If it does not the only person who gets any sleep is the driver while we try and figure everything else out.

@Purple that’s cool I guess I make an effort to respect religion. It’s Monday blame it on the weekend, but I hear you. I just know some Witnesses and they get very upset over those things. You are right about the John being beheaded.

Are you all packed?

Now, that you live down south. You will learn the NASCAR schedule well. You will be a captive in your area during those weekends. My parents know that I will not visit them down there during those weekends. I’ve done my time.

BTW, The next NASCAR race for Atlanta is Labor Day Weekend.

One more thing, did you see on the news that Hines is really thinking about retiring after this season?

I am not a racer, I test frame tolerances. In order to race one of the requirements is to be short and nimble. I am neither. :) Not that I would if I could, going over 200mph requires a certain amount of insanity. LOL

As far as the topic goes, I must say that I was more like Suisse.

“On the rebound” really meant that I wasn’t looking for a serious relationship. I said that upfront. Some foolish females tried to take that on as a challenge like their “cherry pie” was sweeter than the next female’s. But, I didn’t get into a serious relationship until I was ready for another one.

@ Poppa Grande…off topic for a moment

Ever since that travesty known as the Super Bowl, I have been in a state of denial about the existence of pro football. Since then, what has been the assessment of whether the Colts will rebound? I have avoided it waiting for the pain to subside. You are the closest of anyone I know so wanted to ask an expert.
