If you get in a cab with the light off, it doesn’t really matter what you do, it’s just not going to go anywhere.

I can’t wait to see this movie!!!! I will go see the movie Thursday evening after class since my class is right by the mall am not going to be in a rush to come home…..Men truly know what they want early on and where they are going to place you……most times the answer will be there with verbal’s and non-verbal’s and just actions……to me I notice it is a trait for some to talk out of both sides of their mouth so be aware and rock and roll accordingly…..It is amusing after the fact of whatever some come back explaining their clear intentions and again the over used phrased is used “A man and even a woman will only do what you allow them to do”.

Right now I am in my cab alone……I explain what I want and silence becomes the theme with disappearing acts but after some time has passed the phone and texts resume but again my stance hasn’t changed so again nothing……

this past sat night a good and grown man from my recent past last summer that is no text saying my name with why wasn’t I with him at his place for the night……I laughed out loud….his was as I was headed home from the highlands around 12am from a guy I barely communicate with…..So the more mature Lady J sent a text back saying hmmmm why would I be over there with you when we aren’t together like that…I went on to say it would be refreshing if we could get to know each other the right way and explore the options of a real relationship…..I wished him a happy birthday bc I knew it was approaching and told him I was doing well (yep he didn’t even ask how I was doing go figure). You know he didn’t text me back…..This is a 43 year old Morehouse Man that I feel should just know better……but again folk will try you….While I could have ignored the text and not say anything I had to reply with my usual stance……I know what I want and what I want isn’t farfetched……..but he couldn’t do anything to me I didn’t approve of……

Here lately I can’t lie it has been frustrating dealing with the opposite sex…….one day I guess I will experience what I want….until then I will continue to do me however I want to do…….lol

i love sex and the city! I absolutely cannot wait for the movie. But what I want to say is this. if a man wants you, you cannot keep him away. but if there’s any sort of hemming and hawing, hesitation and etc. or you question his feelings about you, he’s just not that into you. Men are very simple creatures. If you’re a mentally and emotionally sound woman, the difference between the two should be fairly easy to detect. Sometimes we close our eyes to the truth. its just easier to let go and wait for that man with the taxi light on. You’ll be much happier in the long run. Curiously, in a supposed anti-incumbent year, most of the departing are not retiring but seeking higher office. We may recycle more than we replace. The bad news is that a frustrating 114 seats still have but one contestant. Two of them aren’t even incumbents, meaning they will affect state policy without being vetted by voters. And I have to think that we’d be better off if many had run instead for the Legislature — and cut down on the number running unopposed. Georgia’s problems are numerous. They aren’t going away. There’s too much stale thinking at the Capitol, on both sides of the aisle. New voices would be welcome.

I could never understand the whole Sex and the City fan club. I watched a few episodes..but I always thought these chicks are just a bit too ditzy the only one I like was Samatha..and even she had blonde moments. Good morning all,

I love this show and definitely can’t wait for the movie to come out. I dragged my ex to see the first one and he actually liked it…go figure. My co-workers at the time would refer to him as Mr. Big….so I guess i am a bit like Carrie.

Anyhoo, it does seem like when a guy is ‘ready’ that it ends up being with whatever chick he’s with at the time. I’m pretty sure that after the length of time with my ex, (with his light dim & flickering on & off) that when his light stays on, he’ll be married in no time. Just the way the cookie crumbles at times. Sometimes when women meet a dude who doesn’t necessarily have their green light on, but we really like, we assume or hope that if we love them wholeheartedly, that it’ll be enough to make them WANT to be ready. Time & experience has told me that isn’t the case. What happens is you just end up spinning your wheels and preparing him for the next chick that he’ll end up having a baby with and marrying all within a matter of about 3 to 6 months after yall have been broken up. LOL (no that didn’t happen to me)

Don’t know about you 24 diehards, but I think last week’s episode should have been last night’s finale, with Mr. President being decapitated. The finale was ok, but it was nothing compared to last weeks. To make matters worse, coming off a finale like Grey’s, I was looking for 24 to come out kicking butts and taking no prisoners!

Ok after reading this, here are my thoughts. Guys aren’t the only ones who have a taxi light that flips on. Women do too. You would be amazed how many women don’t want to be in a relationship. But I guess it was just me they didn’t want be with.

Obviously if you go out with a guy and he’s getting frisky on the first date, he’s only looking for something physical. If he’s too open and ready, women will lose interest. Then if us guys play hard to get, girls get cranky and call him a jerk.

When my gf and I first met, it wasn’t challenging at all. I asked her out and she said yes. I didn’t care about it being too easy for me, I really liked her. It wasn’t this cat and mouse game where we made up things just to appear busy.

Our society is mass marketed to by Hollywood who feeds us a constant stream of unrealistic garbage. NON-REALITY! Never watched the show but I plan on watching the dvd sets of the show. Should be done by the end of the summer, so I’ll watch the movies on dvd then. Always looked like a fun show!

As for the topic, the taxi thing is just another analogy for what we’ve discussed before many times here – when a dude decides he’s ready to commit, he’ll do it and not before then. You gotta catch him when he’s in that ready mode. I usually meet great guys, but my timing has always been off until now.

Dreams – I had to learn the hard way to state what I want & see what page both are on before jumping in all in with a guy. I was always afraid I would scare him off and it sounds like the ladies you are meeting are afraid of running you off. They have not mastered the art of communicating what they want and being able to walk away if it’s not in line with what page you are on.

Morning Folks!

I’ve long held the belief that men are like taxis. My hubby’s light just happened to be on when we met. He dated the ex before me for 2 1/2 years. They broke up in October. We met in March and were engaged by August. When she found out she was mad and I totally understand why.

I’m planning to see the movie this weekend, perfect addition to my 40th birthday celebration. Unfortunately, I’m not sure when. My stepdaughter’s graduation is Saturday and I’m trying to work around that. If all goes well, my friends and I will be checking out the first showing on Saturday followed by lunch.

Kym Morehouse is a microcosm of the black community in America. If there is an influx of soft dudes at The House, it’s because there’s an influx of soft dudes in our communities. When I taught middle school in North Carlolina I saw this same phenomenon. Maybe fathers neglecting their kids, leaving women to ~~coddle~~ raise these boys is at the root of the problem.

abc — Don’t tempt fate, dude… I had a prof form my American Romanticism class back at UGA who was obsessed with whales. Her entire office was wall-papered with whales pics; we spent all but 2 weeks of the quarter on 1 book: Moby Dick. She even wasted an entire 2-hour lecture session during Moby Dick showing us a Nat Geo video on whales! And the video was about blue whales, not sperm whales!

I agree with the analogy about men and taxis. Unfortunately, women have been programmed to behave as if our lights should always on — Mr. Right may be one block away!

How do you tell if the guy’s light is “on,” or (quoting the show) he’s just not that into you? Time will tell. He will let you know if he cares about investing in the relationship. Yeah, I’m sure that hurt but he said the reason he broke up with her is because he realized that they weren’t going to be married and he felt he was too old to just be dating.

@Trevor..I don’t think it is the search that is difficult so much as the will to change and adapt is difficult. I mean if you have the habit of doing something a certain way for so long it is hard to break that habit cold turkey. The same with age and relationships. If you are so use to “Doing it My Way” it is difficult to adapt that you will now have to consult someone on their opinion of how certain things should be done. I mean while folks want exclusivity there is still that pesky problem of giving up some part of self to accomodate the other person.

Its becoz for the most part,they want to date,find a good girl and eeeeventuaaaaaly,settle down.
The upfront communication that Dreamz and Kimmie are talking about,in my experience,only happens with older folks..say in the 36-40 + range coz those folks now kinda seem to have their own clock ticking and are consious of that.

In my own dating experience,when i was 25 +,if a chic i was seeing came to me str8 up with that thirsty marriage look, i was gone like a scared bird coz i was afraid of falling into a trap. And i dont think the landscape has changed that much as far as guys and chics are concerened.

A man will marry a chic that he has dated for a while and really feels she will make a good wife. Its not necessarily about catching them when the light bulb is on. The light bulb comes On when he realizes he has a good chic and there is no point in him continuing with the chase……. assuming this is a guy who has always believed in marriage.

Thats why ur selection and continued dating of this guy is key….if ur due diligence aint right,blame it on urself!

Dating and catching the right guy to marry is akin to stock selection for investment purposes. U gotta identify the guy,reseach on him/it,do they have a solid business,good management,growth prospects,martket share,leader in their industry,cutting edge technology..yada yada. There is no guarantee that the stock price will grow or that there wont be a major scandal at the company which will throw off ur hitherto projections u had on the company..u are just hedging ur bets based on some solid research.

U shld do the same way with a guy/chic and hope for the best. No guarantees tho.

I guess a guy with a light bulb thats On may end up being the wrong guy for u…cause u caught him when he was just ready and saying the “right” things.

But u two may not be a fit!

I also didn’t say that single parent households were the only cause. I cited it as ONE such cause. Additionally, what does “well to do” have to do with anything (I didn’t mention it)? Are you implying that single parent households are limited to the impoverished? I don’t argue to “defend” The House. I am its biggest critic when it is not functioning in alignment with its stated mission. However, it doesn’t even make logical sense to blame it for a social dynamic that’s becoming more prevalent. What you say about The House can also be said about the military, but the military isn’t blame for homosexuality. More homosexuals in the military is just a manifestation of more homosexuals in society at large. I don’t take sides, I address the logic.

my previous beautician specialized in short hair and it took them chicks longer in the chair, and they had weekly/bi-weekly standing appts. And me with my long hair took way less time part of the reason i changed beauticians i aint have time to be waiting on all them fantasia-esque hair-do’s

Janet probably got tired of that weave. I saw a lady in my salon getting one a few weeks ago & I don’t see how folks do it.

I’m so glad my SO does not trip about hair. I’ve gone short & sassy & most folks still can’t get over the fact that I’m grown and can do what I want! Plus, when I wore it long all I did was be lazy and end up putting it in a ponytail. This way I look sassy and more professional at the same time.

My hair is shoulder length but it is thick so it takes time to get these tresses of mine to lay down. I get tired of it too but I very seldom rock a pony tail though. I usually wrap my hair at night so the only time that it get’s a curling iron or flat iron in it is at my bi-weekly standing hair appt. HA! hardly my hair is relaxed. i just prefer to wear it with leave in conditioner and let it air dry every day. i truly believe that’s why it grows so long and healthy. it’s happy!!

@ Slim, I made the decision myself to lay off the highlights, my previous beautician bleached me (without my knowledge also another reason for my departure) and every since then I have been against the highlighting thing, not against color so much because well premature greying runs in the family and i refuse to walk around with a salt and pepper patch at 30 1/2 until recently though i was only doing “rinses”, i just for the first time in like 2 years had perm color (the same as my natural color) done.

Melo, South East of the United States. In total rankings Atlanta came in as the 16th fittest city, my home town area came in 3rd
