Single people meet, fun ensues
The Atlanta Film Festival kept me pretty busy but on one of the evenings I managed to squeeze in a singles event. I got word via my Twitter pal, “Alone in Atlanta” that there was a very cool “sexy scavenger hunt” going down. I arrived a pinch late but as soon as I got there I was immediately impressed. First off, it was at the Chocolate Bar. You can’t go wrong there!
When I scanned the crowd I found that everyone was smiling (yes lovely Ladies smiling too) and laid back. A really great vibe! I checked in and stuck a name badge on and headed to the counter to try a cocktail. The organizers had everyone participate in a really fun ice breaker game. You had no choice but to mix and mingle but it was never awkward.
I asked a couple of attendees if they enjoyed the event and everyone I spoke to said they did. The ages ranged from 25 to um my age *cough* and it seemed to mesh well. Ms. Manson said that this was her second event like this and the first event had a perfect mix of men and women. I noticed this night the numbers were pretty balanced as well.
I’ve been to speed dating, lock and key parties, and other mixers before but there always seemed to be something annoying about them! This event felt totally fun, and dare I say organic and natural. Maybe it was the chocolate? Who knows! How often do you get out to events designed specifically for singles? Does it make you uncomfortable to attend? Have you ever gone to a singles mixer or party and met some really great prospects?
I believe you have to find ways to mix and mingle so that you don’t feel like you are in a meat market. The best part of the Hidden Agenda event was that we had the NFL draft on the TV, the scavenger hunt, and a really sexy, fun group of singles just hanging out. I am sure there were some matches made but that wasn’t the only focus. It was about being out and about and positioning yourself to have a good time and maybe get some new friends out of it. That’s win-win in my book!
If you want to get out of the house this evening, I hear there is a really nice Singles Wine Tasting event going on at the High Museum!

kimmie, i firmly believe that some people reach their later years and are just mad at the world all the time for no reason whatsoever. you keep skipping and hopping across those streets while you can, girl. let the old man rely on pity to stop those drivers from running him down.

czBrat – You are right. You know, whatever & wherever my life takes me, I just want not to be bitter & mad! I want no regrets. When I finished school & got out in the work world, I noticed a lot of folk like that. There were things they wanted to do that for whatever reason they didn’t get to do & they took it out on everyone around them. For most things, it’s really never too late. Go for what you want & be HAPPY!

Was it just me, or were any of your suprised that Mayweather’s “purse” for tomorrow’s fight is $40million. Glad my neighbor invited me over to watch. Don’t have to worry about drinking and driving…I can crawl across the lawn to my front door if need be.

Since the topic is going out I am still kinda sorta on topic. LOL
But uh, yeah, I found the perfect dress within 5 minutes of walking into Talbots. While I was in buying my dress Mason and the little one went over to the food court to get us some lunch. I love the grilled chicken at the Farmer’s Basket. However, that is not what I got. My marido said that it was so crowded in the mall today and the line at the Farmer’s Basket was unbelievable. Instead of waiting for them to bring out some more grilled chicken he got me jalapeno chicken instead. I like that also but I was looking forward to the grilled chicken. Jalapenos make me a little fiery so I am not going to eat much of this. LOL
And Slim imma get your nap in as soon as I finish my lunch. My marido and the baby are already done eating and laying on the couch. But give me a few minutes and I will be searching for that nice dream. LOL

On Topic – Never been to a singles mixer even when I was single. Nothing bad to say about them tho. I would consider that when you put labels like that on an even you tend to get added expectations. To me if you are Single and looking then every single opportunity outside your home is a mixer so to speak.
Off Topics – So not a Halle Berry fan. Something just not right with that Chick. Eye Candy with the pretty shiny wrapper but prolly Sour as heyal. Maybe shoulda been a Tootsie Pop instead.
