Mix and mingle in Atlanta
It’s been a super busy week with about 20 different events going on in the city! It’s one of the many reasons I love Atlanta. I went to a film festival, listened to live hip hop music, Nina Simone tribute that was a spoken word/art event and singles mixer! I am exhausted as that sounds but I had a wonderful time running around town. I will tell you about the events in more detail next week.
On Tuesday, I braved the crowd and ventured to Buckhead to attend the 13th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase the Havana Club in Atlanta. The event was hosted by R&B crooner Lloyd and DJ Drama, the showcase featured performances by hip-hop heir apparent Drake and Atlanta-bred Travis Porter.
One of the exciting moments for me was when BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations Catherine Brewton and members of Organized Noize and Goodie Mob presented rapper/producer Big Boi with the Legends of ATL Award. I am a HUGE OutKast fan, so it was great to see Bib Boi aka Sir Luscious Left Foot!
After I stopped pouting about being in a club on a Tuesday night, I relaxed a bit and had a great time catching up with my friend “SuperStar.” We mingled around as she caught up with friends, including one of the BMI representatives. Let me tell you, there are a lot of perks to knowing people in high places! He was kind enough to help us throughout the evening and kept us posted on Drake’s E.T.A. on stage.
The crowd was getting bigger and bigger, and it was getting later and later. I have been wanting to see Drake perform live since the buzz about him began. Just when I was feeling too old and too irritated to endure that crowd, Drake came on stage. I was pretty impressed by his stage presence. He worked the crowd and really did his thing. I get why there was so much industry buzz about him.
It ended up being a really great event that made me almost fall back in love with hip hop again. One thing I noticed about the crowd that night was that it was pretty diverse. I know I felt older *cough* then the average attendee, but the truth is there were people there of all ages.
When you go out, are you mindful of the age range of people? For the younger readers, do you prefer to hang out at events with people in your age/demographic? How can you tell when an event is geared toward you?
Are there certain places or events that you totally rule out because you know that the crowd won’t be your scene? Is it a good idea to discount any place you have a preconceived notion about? I actually met an older man, in the music industry while we were in line. He was pretty cool and not African American, so I would not necessarily have expected to swap business cards with someone like him that night. Which is my point. Do we mix and mingle with an open mind?

Good Morning All,
Happy Friday!. Okay I have to say I am a square peg..cause while I like hip-hop..I am not feeling any of this foolishness they pass off as hip-hop now. I like my hip-hop with a message..say something about something..so maybe you can inspire the youth to be something..but i digress. Yes when I go out I am mindful of age range, and demographics of where I am going and who will be there. I have various interest..remember I am quirky..so I am not inclined to go somewhere filled with young folks(16-25) acting foolish..for example my freaknik days were many moons ago..I am not going anywhere near that foolishness now. Events geared toward me use words, like old school, grown and sexy, or my favorite …family-friendly.
While it is not good to judge a book by its cover.. if someone back in the day said hey there is going to be a party at Sharon’s Showcase..or Sharon’s when I was a teen..9 times out of 10..you would have a great time dancing and no one was going to get shot. If they said 559..you could bet dollars to doughnuts..APD would be shutting the party down..cause there was foolishness..(yeah I said it) So err I tend avoid places where the local news stations post up..waiting on the nightly knife fight or gun fire.

When you go out, are you mindful of the age range of people? Always….My favorite crowd is mid 30s to mid 40s but some of my dear friends male and female are my parents age…..I hung around my grandma growing up so I’ve always gravitated toward the older and wiser….some describe me as having an old should or having discernment but I can rock and roll with the best of them…..Ironically here lately I have been around my 30 to 31 crew and embrace it bc there are some cool cats….The class of ‘97 Douglass High has inducted me as a “Honoree Classmate” lol crony right but it is cool bc it was an instant bond of some down to earth ground folks who are my age….So I can hang with many diverse groups….My favorite group is my Falcons Tailgate Crew….Those dudes are like my big brothers…..folk born and raised from the “A” late 30s to mid 40s…….It is more than a sports thing its real friendship and I appreciate them embracing me and my youth…..
Atlanta is a cool place and great for singles to mix and mingle….I have founded myself having a ball on a Tuesday night and not waiting for the weekend for entertainment….In 2006 I use to hit it hard during the week and never miss a day of work can’t do it like that now but I can hang and mix and mingle with any group….I have formed some great bonds with each of my groups and comparing it to SC or NC I don’t think it would be the same!!!!! Atlanta Rocks!!!!!

great event that made me almost fall back in love with hip hop again.
Drake is cool, but there lots of other higher caliber mc’s/groups to keep you in love with hip hop. Talib Kweli and High Tech are doing the second Reflection Eternal joint. Little Brother just dropped, and the second Foreign Exchange joint is rockin hard. Jay Electronica just may be the new truth…possibly the best out in the game right now. Don’t believe the propaganda…Hip Hop isn’t dead.

I’ve heard the albums you’ve mentioned and while the rhymes are clever and interesting, the artists you named suffer from the Talib Kweli effect.
That is, dope rapper with clever, conscious and prescient rhymes, but horrible production. Every TK (even back in the day with Mos) loses me because of the selection of beats.
I dig that production cost are high, but save few commercial tracks TK does himself a disservice.

good morning all! i think i am a little conscious of the crowds and the place that i go. if the club is an 18 and older crowd, i more than likely won’t be going there.
one thing that caught me off guard was when i went to the wale concert at center stage a few weeks ago. it majority college kids in the crowd. it kind of through me off bc i wasnt expecting it at all.

I met this guy while having buying tires, who actually took me to lunch because the wait was long. We chatted and swapped stories and upon exiting he handed me his number. Well given that he works near my home, we ran into each again and during the course of the conversation and my whining because of more work needing to be done on my car, he offered his, as a loan asking if I knew how to drive an automatic. Me thinking he was joking said “yeah, why you gonna loan me yours?” All to my surprise handed me his keys, showed me how to disarm the car, so forth and so on. After a few calls and a couple of convos later, we work towards another meetup and I ended up canceling for unforeseen reasons. Tried to rescheduled and this time he canceled. Long story short, a few more convos later, he called invited me to be his guest for his birthday gathering….AT ATLANTIC STATION!! I got there around 9:30ish and to my surprised found soooooo many 25 and unders that I almost went back home. I waded through the crowds, found the birthday party. From that day forth, I vowed a vow, unless I’m hitting Atlanta Station during daytime hours for shopping or lunch, I WILL NEVER spend an evening there again. Too many kids. Plus, something didn’t quite sit right about him with me. I ain’t into soft dudes. LOL

Happy Friday everyone
One of the best things about Atlanta is the large amount of stuff to do on any given night. Having lived “all over” Atlanta is probably the best cities to keep boredom away. And now that it’s warmer outside, it’s not uncommon to have to choose between 3 events to attend on a random Monday!
As for the age range, I don’t party wit the youngesters, but I don’t go out of my way to worry about. I just do the stuff that interests me and since I’m not into doing stuff the young folks would be doing, I basically ensure that I’m still kicking it in my age range.

I agree to an extent. It’s a little more difficult for these cats to get the quality production because lots of people won’t work with them…conscious clever rhymes aren’t making any money these days. I thought Hi Tek did a great job on Kweli’s first solo joint. Also, Black Star (Mos and Kweli) is a classic. Little Brother had some of the best production since Tribe Called Quest. Ninth Wonder did their first cd “The Listening”, but he’s since moved on to produce for Jay Z and the likes. I think The Roots have top notch production too. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Questlove’s production is the hot…got a couple grammys on his shelf for it.

Yes. Unfortunately, I won’t look 30 until I’m 50, so it doesn’t make much difference when it comes to being hit on…the guys are either too young or old perverts…even if I’m dressed like Hillary Clinton.

No, this is my Achilles heel…outside of small talk, I rarely leave space for people to openly get at me. It’s not that I don’t know them…it’s just that I don’t know them.

I would be lying if I said I did not notice age, male/female ratio, and race when I am on the scene. However it is not a big deal to me. It is almost like I take a quick look around and the snapshot is quickly put away. The reason I don’t think about this is because one:
1. I would like to believe that “the party didn’t start until I walked in.”
2. Using a bit of Drake in a different context, I feel like “I am the best” so I really don’t worry about others.
3. I am there to have a funky good time, so if I am there I am going to make the best of it especially if I am wearing my nice heels and “go get’um dress.” Why waste a good outfit and smell good?
4. I’ve learned that this is the skin, body and soul that I will have with me at all times so I best get used to being with me. With that said I don’t compare myself with others. You will not hear me saying I am to old, young, hood, or upscale to be anywhere. My place is every place, and I adapt to where I am.

Much like ARed, I just go where things are goin gon that I’m interested in. I don’t give too, too much thought to the crowd (unless there is a concern about Thugnificent and his gun toting friends to show up and shout out.)
Since I bring my *Fun* (love those Dave & Busters commercials) with me everywhere I go and because I so love the life I’m living (most of the time), I am pretty much guaranteed to have a blast pretty much every-damn-day. LOL!
I have girlfriends that won’t go places if they don’t think there will be a lot of men there. and I’ve been out with girlfriends that think that if a place is not crowded they are not having fun. Double you tee eff?!?!?

Okay, where there is hiphop, I am not.
Now as for the age of the crowd, yes we most definitely try to avoid the younger crowds. My friend girls and I went to Red Sky last night. Very nice atmosphere, live music, good food. And the crowd looked to be mostly maybe 35 years and older.
Whether going out with my husband or with my friends we like to find little quaint spots that the “in crowd” avoids or don’t know about.
I am too old, yeah I said it, to be hitting up places that my oldest would frequent. And these days that would be anyplace centered around anything hiphop.
I hate it now when I go into the coffee shop the crowd is getting younger and more urban. What happened to the days when coffee was an “boring old people” drink? LOL
Folks go where they want to go, but I just hate when they are just hanging taking up seats and not taking advantage of what the place sells. Just there for the free wifi and because drinking cappuccino, frappuccino, lattes and mochas are the latest fads now.

The jr. high school set grew up on brew. Now that’s their after school spot. College kids love it after hours. Crazy.

lurker, that’s funny. Yeah Atlantic Station gets very younger crowdish in the evenings. Especially on the weekends.
The only time we go there is when going to Fox Sports Grill which we really only like to do during lunch.
Evening dining is usually places more on our side of town or north of there. Outside the perimeter.

I’m a musician; musicians don’t like hip-hop. Hip hop is not that musical, there’s not that much you can musically do with it. I’ve been a musician for a long time, and I don’t play clubs anymore, only concerts and private parties. That’s a relief! The club scene is pretty tawdry, even under the best conditions. Likewise, I don’t patronize clubs. After years of playing venues of anywhere from 200 to 35,000 people, I just don’t care for the crowds. Mix and mingle? Have at it, but it’s not an interest of mine.
I’m not that mindful of the ages of people I associate with. I have friends and acquaintances that are up to 25 years on either side of my age, and we relate to each other just fine. More important than our ages are our inclinations and belief systems. Those inclinations and belief systems don’t really include our participation in events that amount to not much more than a hookup scene.

So, last summer one of the groomsmen from my wedding also got married & I was the only whiteboy in the wedding party… For the bachelor party, we ended up at Goosebumps… (which, for me, was heaven…)
Anyway, we walk in the door & there are a grand total of 2 of my people in the whole joint — me, and 1 dancer. Within 30 seconds of walking in, the 1 white girl dancer makes a beeline over my way, asking if I want a dance… 
The rest of the the guys in our crew just laughed & patted the girl on the head… “silly child…. you don’t know THIS ONE…”

Yeah Infamous places where we can actually hold a conversation and hear each talk. I like to go places with my husband where we can focus on each other and not be distracted by the myriad folks pouring in and out in droves. We can do what we got out of the house to do, enjoy our time together. Even dance by our table when there is no dance floor and the onlookers applaud in the end. LOL
We do go to the movies and bowling where there will always be crowds but that’s different.
We are that couple that doesn’t always have to be in the know and the show.

I really do not go out by myself, I have my own things I like to do for fun that do not involve mass public gatherings. I will do concerts and go to the High Museum, but there is a more of a focus in those venues, IMO I went out maybe twice by myself here and the other times were on a date, just to dance or have a good time and drink. Young people just think differently and there is nothing I can fathom to discuss with someone under the age of 28 in a club.

A few years back when I lived in Marietta, my roommate was a bartender/waitress at some hole in the wall. You know what.. My real spot is in the East Lake Village.. Its the East Side Lounge.. The music is nice.. A mixed crowd and I know the owner and his wife so its usually where I take my dates to hang out.. I forgot about the ESL.. Dang.. Thats really where I usually end up… Behind the bar pouring drinks at some point if Im really feeling Good that night.. Ive been going there for years my friends and I were the only people that would come in when he first opened..

Rock – your last comment reminded me of what I wanted to say (because I had forgotten).
One of the issues that TheDude and I are working to manage right now is the balance between being a dating couple who both enjoy being out enjoying the company of friends from time to time and having individual time and activities, who both work full time, but at the same time carving out the time to focus on each other and relationship building.
I have so many friends that say that they want to be in a relationship but who are out on the scene so much that I wonder how they could possibly transition their lifestyles into building the foundations of a solid relationship.
I have one friend in particular who always knows the newest, hottest, most eclectic, cutest little spots to go to who is desperate for a man. But, when it comes down to focusing on one person, she can’t do it because she likes to be out in the streets too much. So, she ends up with all these little fragmented relationships with guys that won’t/can’t get serious about her.

Don’t do the club anymore unless someone is hosting a function or a mixer. SPACE Atlanta is a nice lil spot. The AKAs are having their regionals and will be there this weekend. Utopia hosts a lot of good stuff too.

I love festivals..I hate I missed Dogwood this year..and will miss Inman tomorrow. But I am gearing up for Jazz fest.. Me and the friends..pack a picnic..with all the yumms, grab blankets, chairs, portable table, candles and make a full day of it. I love it because I get to hear new artist..relax and enjoy the sunshine..(I have a killer hat for this year)!!!

A guy I’ve flirted with for years recently married his baby mama. As he knocked back drink after drink he told me I need to settle my hot azz down and join the married club. I was a little taken aback because I’m really not out in the streets all that much. He didn’t know I’ve been seeing someone for months, I guess all he sees is that we run into each other at the same functions. Somehow he was able to cultivate a relationship enough to get married. I guess it’s just different when it’s a woman. I guess I should spend more time at home knitting….

Ok, here’s my old mind thinking out loud. Because of my 15 yr old I am aware of Drake. What I didn’t get is his popularity (thanks for clearing that up a little WD. I’m mystified that he has such a huge following and hasn’t even released his first album. Listening to him on the radio I don’t think he “spits” as well as other rappers, but please take into account my ears are much older and I hear noise where others don’t.
With that being said, I like to party and hang with energetic people just no youngins!

Sure Melo, jazz festivals, arenas with the old Motown acts, stuff like that. By contrast played a private party last weekend with Francine Reed singing for a couple hundred people, she did just fine.
Actual musicians don’t make that much money, you’d probably be surprised at how little the headliners are paying the folks in their band. Singers are not, by definition, musicians; hip hop artists are not, by definition, even singers, much less musicians. But folks like it as a backdrop to tantric boogie and hookup scenes.

You know, if you want to hear live jazz with top notch players, you pretty much aren’t going to find it in clubs in Atlanta. Go to Knoxville, check out Baker Peters and a couple of the other local clubs. That town has some jazz playing. There’s a couple really talented young guys I know playing jazz around here, but the only way they get a gig is to play blues and old school funk in BBQ joints and stuff like that.
The best players from Atlanta that I ever met, I met them on the road in other places. They don’t play here; there aren’t any gigs.
Jazz in clubs, no matter where you go, is getting more and more scarce. I can imagine it becoming a concert-only scene, similar to classical music. That isn’t such a bad thing, after all; it might even be a very good thing.

After a certain age it’s just not the bees knees to be all up in the most popular joints at all times of the night. Hell we likes to be in the bed by 10:30 these days. And what a lot of folks don’t realize is we are still “dating”. We are going out and having fun. And guess what we have a great intimate relationship on top of all that. LOL
But heck we are getting up there. We don’t need all of that “the place to be” to have fun. Getting out of the house just to have dinner at the friend’s is quite enjoyable.

Well now, the reason there’s no jazz in clubs in Atlanta is because nobody will go. Every now and then another club opens and closes, but if nobody shows up to spend money on it, it doesn’t last long.
Studio 281 is kind of a dinky hole in the wall (albeit a nicely decorated one), like Churchill Grounds is. The reason you can’t fit more than 25 people or so is that’s all that will show up! But hey, I wish them well. More gigs are more gigs, the local players sure need them. I notice that they don’t book acts in advance, or at least, don’t publicize them.

All of those are just trying to broaden their appeal to what sells, Dreams. You won’t find a symphonic musician that appreciates hip hop; Maceo doesn’t much count as a player; now, maybe they’d like to introduce something of musical value to the genre and thus reach more people, but they don’t get hip hop notoriety because the thing with hip hop is flat basic groove that doesn’t move, and the words.

Then I called her and she was actually complaining about wanting to spend more time together, the conversation kind of flowed from there. Off topic: I just wanted to tell ya’ll that I thought maybe the ballplayer was trying to be on good behavior these last few weeks but maybe not. Right after my initial post about him, he asked me to do lunch weekly to discuss issues but never broached after that. I thought maybe he felt maybe he overstepped. Since then, it’s been business. A few personal questions that I sort of ignore but nothing to sound alarms. Anyway, this week, we (him really) had a couple of issues per our clients, who said was caused by associates in other areas and naturally called him to complain. He when in half cocked and just reacted…copying folks and wanting to pull these associates managers, bullet points of this that and the other….what?! No matter any issue there are always two sides. He should have gathered details surrounding the incidents, drilling to the root. I have almost 10 years on him and more often than not the folks that’s doing the leg work may not be the best paid or recognized but in my experience, know what they’re doing. After “I” got things resolved and calmed, I went to his office and told him I wanted to revisit his approach and how things might be handled differently and he went left with some relationship analogy crap to which retorted, let’s not talk about me. Funny to see him get embarrassed. By now we’ve gone back and forth because he’s really got this I am man and the head of these relationships and I have the last say so attitude. He ain’t got the time nor experience as evident by how he handle. I’m irked by now cause he’s just looking at me, skirting around bluntly saying man don’t put folks on blast and go in half cocked unless it’s deemed. So he’s not getting where I’m coming from and I suggest we finish tomorrow. He’s still here working when I left so decided to send an email from my blackberry listing the issues and point to him. Well wouldn’t you know it….lunch scheduled the next day. I ordered and went straight to it. On the ring size… you could try to find another lady here that around the same size as her & approximate from there — though finger sizes can vary. If all else fails, go with a size 6 — that’s the size they use for most of the display rings, so I suppose most women must be relatively close to that. Besides, most any decent jeweler will re-size for free, if need be.

Carlito, the diamond thing, it can get pretty complicated! Here’s my advice:
Of Carats (size), Color (clear, yellow, brown), Clarity (relative lack of imperfections), and Cut, go for size and color, then cut, then clarity. If you have to sacrifice something because of cost, sacrifice clarity first, then cut. That said, don’t go below VVS inclarity, unless you find an SI example that just isn’t that apparent to the naked eye.
SIZE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, no matter what anyone tells you! It has to be big and clear. Then, it’s nice to have ultra sparkly (perfect cut), and after that, no flaws (clarity). The most sparkly cut is going to be round princess cut, and they look the biggest too, so go with that.
Do NOT buy a platinum setting, it’s a waste of money. Go for either yellow or white gold. She won’t care a bit about the material the setting is made of if she likes the diamond.
Get ready to spend at least $15K. Consider it a ring that she’ll wear for a lifetime. Avoid the sales babble about upgrading — this is a forever ring! Make it a good one!

SWISS..I know right? I mean when I go to buy rings they NEVER have my size. It is a big shock if they have a 5. I have skinny wrists too. When I buy my dance jewelry from the Indian stores they are amazed that I am one size up from kid size. They always are amazed and say that with my height and size (my T & A) I shoudl have bigger wrists and fingers. Go figure!I saw my inner Skinny Chick is dying to get out!

Melo – You know I’m messing with you!! You actually are being quite sensible. Supposedly the rule is 2 to 3 months salary should be spent on a ring.
I believe in doing everything within ones means. It’s possible to have quite a lovely ring for a lot less than 15K, and I’m one who knows good jewelry. And you don’t have to go strictly traditional either – I knew a lady that got a pearl wedding ring. She hated diamonds, but loved pearls. I’ve seen some gorgeous gold bands with intricate carvings and stones.
But it makes absolutely no sense to go in debt over something like that. And it’s about where you put your priorities. I’ve known extremely wealthy people that just had plain gold bands. The ring was just not a priority.

@kimmie…i agree that it makes no sense to go into a debt over an engagement ring. i have already told my love that i’m not trying to be all blingy…lol. it’s about us sharing a life together and me have a symbol of being his “intended.” truth be told, i don’t even wear jewelry except my silver bangles and earrings. so i want my engagement/wedding ring to be the only jewelry on my hands.:)

I may be one of the few women on the planet that is not really into rings like that. Yeah, I would certainly appreciate a nice big o’ pretty expensive little bauble to show off to the world.
But…um. well, long as I have his ring perched on my finger, the only real request that I have associated with it is that the ring be white gold, the love last a lifetime and the relationship be solid.

kinder – I don’t wear a lot of jewelry either, especially rings, so that ring would probably be the only one. I have a birthstone ring and a few others I wear occasionally on my right hand, but nothing on my left.
I love beautiful jewelry, but I’m allergic to most of it, so it has to be good stuff! I keep it simple & classy!

Culturally,as a Zulu, i pay whats called lobola..bride price in $$$ terms,some suits to the father in law, a dress suit to mum in law and a cpple of cows and goats to her fam.U pay this stuff over the lyfe of ur marriage,not really in one day altho most of it is delivered in $$$ terms on that one day my reps gop to their house to do the officiation.
A ring is sme extra that u can buy and esp if u have a (white)wedding/ceremony or the magistrate thang which i had.
Its not really a requirement to denote that somebody is married altho i understand the modernity of it.

Yeah whatever. No way I’m spending 25k+ on a ring. I can make a ring out of the deed to our house and put that on her finger.
I’ve seen some gorgeous gold bands with intricate carvings and stones. My mom and dad just had wedding bands when they got married. He promised he’d get her something nicer when they weren’t struggling anymore. On their 10 year anniversary he bought her a 2ct sapphire ring. Being together was what was important…all the material things came later.

It is with the saddest heart I pass on the following. Please join me in remembering a great icon. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Long-time friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was never considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, even still he was a crusty old man and was considered a roll model for millions. Toward the end, it was thought he would rise again, but alas, he had reached his expiration date. Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children, John Dough and Jane Dough; plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

MALE LURKER – You’d be surprised to know that offsite luncheons and meetings in my quarterly review, as set forth by my manager. I assist these two but I don’t report to them. However, they’ll have input on how well we mesh and work together as a team and I have the responsibility of documenting these lunches/meetings….so don’t lay that “exercise good judgement” trip on me. I’m gonna always do that cause frankly not into being or getting used. However, I can smell and recognize crap when I see it and frankly I vented cause of the mess he created that I had to clean up all the while moving away from the issue.

My GRANDPA
The IRS decides to audit Grandpa, and summons him to the IRS office.

@czBrat ~ we didn’t make it last night to State! We are finished until Cross Country track starts. She’s bummed out. They took the top 2 from yesterday’s meet to advance to State. Leggs, I have an end of the day joke.:
Two gay men decide to have a baby.
They mix their sperm, and then have a surrogate mother artificially inseminated.
When the baby is born, they rush to the hospital.
A dozen babies are in the ward,eleven of whom are crying and screaming. Over in the corner,one is smiling serenely.
A nurse comes by and to the gays’ delight she points out the happy child as theirs.
“Isn’t it wonderful?” one man says to the other.
“All these unhappy children and ours is so happy.”
The nurse says,”Oh sure, he’s happy now.
