Romantically Challenged

Romantically Challenged is a new show that will be premiering this month on ABC, starring Alyssa Milano, of all people!   I’m sorry but it is awfully hard to believe that Alyssa Milano is romantically challenged in any way.  Nonetheless,  I’m curious to see the “romantic challenges”  her character faces on the dating scene in this show.

After all of my misadventures (and yours too) I probably could serve as a consultant for the writers of this show.  I definitely have had those moments when I feel romantically challenged.  Just when I think I have found a dating groove (not as sexy as it sounds, believe me), I hit a snag with men.  Either I choose the wrong type or get confused by mixed signals.  That’s when I pretty much check out on the relationship angle altogether.

Maybe we are all challenged in some way though, right? (RIGHT!?)  I can recall a couple of exes that seemed pretty clueless about navigating a relationship.  It was exhausting at times! I didn’t want that role and the dynamics of this kind of a relationship is pretty awkward.

Do you know how uncomfortable it is explaining to a grown man that just because he ticked me off doesn’t mean I want him out of my life altogether?  Have you ever dated someone who needed to be guided about the inner workings of a relationship?

What do you think you learned from the experience? What did you learn about yourself?

What do you think makes you romantically challenged? If you are lucky enough to have it all figured out, please enlighten the rest of us.

But…who is *this* conflicted after three weeks?

Especially if dude has not been in a relationship in awhile, 3 weeks can seem like a long time. You’re talking almost a month and you don’t feel even a twing that this person could mean more to you down the road. That they “do it” for you. Not fall in love. He has a feeling it’s not going to change, his feelings or lack there of.

I’m starting to see why men end up marrying the wrong chick and why women chose the wrong man to have a baby by.

Folks must think they won’t get anyone BETTER than the current, even though they know the “feelings” aren’t quite there or know that they will be a “good provider” even though they don’t really love them.

You can have more people. You just have to have faith and confidence.

If it has only been three weeks does it even warrant a conversation? Just leave.

The Truth (aka TT, ie Tee-Tee): Yeah um I like you too but I got this voice in my head talking to me.

Chick: Voice in your head?

Tee-Tee: Yeah! It’s sayin….

Chick: Zippppp, smack, slurp, gag, cough.. Can you hear the voice now!

Damn.

Normally, I would co-sign on this (I’ve done it tons of times myself). But we should be more mature about it. Not only that, she seems really “in” to him and is probably treating him right. He should at least have a convo about it, if only to keep “crazy” at bay!

AmazonRed, yes have to keep the crazy at bay. If she shows the symptoms have the talk. I have left a woman and never called her back afer dating her for like a month. We went out had some great times. We were about to reach the stage where the oral sex and stuff was about to kick off, she told me she had genital herpes. Well that killed the moment and the relationship. I never called her back. Did I feel bad about it? Not at all, nasty goat.

I bet she stopped telling folks at all after that. Good job Carlito!

“Why?” I asked.

“Because we wouldn’t have been able to do all that with kids in the house.”

Cause I’m like David Banner
The rap game really is pop culture now, although I might be more afraid of you getting angry like David Banner than Bruce Banner. lol

he’s being a little moist about it…let her know so she can go….she’ll only end up being angry/bitter with you in the end if she gets strung along and that’s selfish on dude’s part.
I thought dude was asking the where he should go from here partly because he does not want to string her along. They’ve only been dating 3 weeks, so I’m guessing dude has come to a crossroads and is deciding which path to take. What’s “moist” or “cowardly” about that? I could see if he’d been agonizing over this decision for like 3 months, then I’d be like dude make a choice already.

Nerd alert: RE: David / Bruce Banner… Actually, you’re both right. In the comic book it was Bruce, but in the old TV series w/ Bill Bixby & Lou Farigno (sp?) they changed the name to David. Yeah, I know, I’ve got waaaaaaaay too much useless info stuck in my head…

On a completely different note: Well, d@mn :?

@ lurker on a conference call — You should do what I do: Pass the time by playing a drinking game on the conference call. Every time someone throws out a corporate buzz word/phrase (team-player, outside the box, proactive, etc.)… DRANK! The day will go by much faster, trust me. ;-)

Is ir odd that I do not do things with my girlfriends mother? I mean run her on her errands and stuff, but I do not buy her things nor take her mother out like her ex did. I think her mother is looking for that from me, but I am a firm believer and keeping parents out of our relationship. Besides I think it is just a tool for her mom to be in our business.

when in doubt, go with the comic book. you know that’s what the comic “purists” would say. come on these are the same people who said Sam Jackson shouldn’t have been allowed to play a Jedi because they didn’t think he had the character in real life that a Jedi is supposed to demonstrate. I’m not one of those people by the way. lol Also, Bruce was actually the middle name of the character in the tv series.

It’s also fun sometimes to make up your own word and use it authoritatively, as if it really is a corporate buzz word. Most won’t even call you on it, out of fear of being the only one who doesn’t know it. lol
