Are first impressions reliable?

Have you ever been out and met someone who you instantly didn’t like? The person just rubbed you the wrong way because they said or did something that turned you off.  When that person later turns out to be someone you become friends with or date, you have to wonder how reliable our first impressions really are.

So often we seem to make so many snap judgments and quick superficial scans and we actually rule a potential romance out based on this.  When you think of your best relationships or closest friendships, do you remember what you first thought about that person when you met?

Do you think your first impressions on the dating scene gets you a second look or makes people steer clear?

HAPPY MONDAY! How was your weekend? Did you have any first impressions (good or bad) this weekend?

Update: Attention music lovers! Janelle Monae is in the city! She has an album listening party and performance tonight.

Sexy Cool, here you go.

Kimme, flour about a quarter cup, a bout a quarter tsp of salt, some fresh ground black pepper and some oregano, chicken breast boned and skinless..umm four table spoons olive oil, some Marsala wine..I am generous with it but no more than a glass, about two handfuls of mushrooms, a half cup of chicken stock and a half cup of sherry and a half of lemon. Mix together the flour, salt, oregano, and pepper. Beat the chicken breasts with the flat side of your meat mallet softly. Roll the chicken in your mixture. On medium-high, heat the olive oil and brown the chicken…both sides. Then put chicken onto a plate. Pour wine into the oil and warm. Mix in the mushrooms, chicken stock and juice of the lemon..flip chicken over to get it well coated with the sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes

I am well.
Lovely weekend with TheDude.
We went out Saturday night to watch the Hopkins/Jones fight. (Um, yeah – waste of life watching those two senior citizens and their theatrics.)
Slept in yesterday morning.
Went up Stone Mountain (again) yesterday midday. (I will be glad when it gets easier.)
Went to the movies yesterday afternoon.
Fun times.

As bad as I wanted to see that fight, I think I was caught up in the hype like this was 15 years ago. I was so glad I was drinking, to keep me occupied. I did win some money because when drinks start flowing and ppl get loud they want to bet. It was ridiculous.

But she was saying something a few weeks ago about some dude who was asking her to marry him when she’s still talking about the issues that she’s dealing with from her last relationship.

Afternoon all,
Do you think your first impressions on the dating scene gets you a second look or makes people steer clear? First impressions definitely get you a second look or not. If you make a good one, you will not be so forgettable. I have had some guys who rubbed me the wrong way in an initial meeting and later were able to redeem themselves and show me another side. But still, you look for signs of the unimpressionable behavior/attitude to reveal its ugly head again.

We invited two-single friends to hang out with is Saturday for a family BBQ at the park and my BFF had to literally cuss out one of JT’s co-workers!! This guy is very crass and direct in everything he says- plus, his comments all ended up being “sexual” in nature. After 30 mins of this, I was ready to tell him to leave. He later got drunk and tried to hit on my sister, after my friend would not entertain his foolishness anymore. He later spoke to JT and said, “he didn’t get why they both blew him off”. LMBO!!! He will be single for a long time if he didn’t get why!!! I think he may be a border line-alchy too, now I am rethinking him being one of our hostesses at the wedding. I can see one of my cousins going to jail if this fool says something out of line to their wives or girlfriends.
Other than that, we had a fun & busy weekend!! Played kickball after we grubbed on BBQ at the park. Sunday-went to the sunrise Easter service at church, Put in two offers on homes in our area, and drove to Columbus and back to meet the future-in-laws to drop off one of the kiddies for Spring Break. Overall great weekend!!

So, you went to see Why Did I Get Married 2? I wanted to go, but could not find the time to get away. I hear it was good, except for the corny ending.

It is TP’s best production to date (coming from one who is not a big fan of his work) and is the first one that I’ve cared to see in the last two or three movies.

If it didn’t end corny, it would have been a Tyler Perry Production. LOL!

I hear it was good, except for the corny ending. we haven’t seen it yet. friends who saw it just kept saying the ending was “so sad”. i’m thinking ‘what? did everyone die???’. now you say it’s a corny ending. this should be very interesting (if we do, in fact, get around to seeing it).

SexyCool, Alfredo sauce coming up. :) This kid must have watered the heck out of my yard. It is bushy and green.

1 pint half & half,1 1/2 ounce butter.1 1/2 ounce flour for paste
White pepper,Salt,1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (fresh)1 cup young peas(if you want to),1 sm. jar sliced mushrooms (if you want to)
warm up the cream, dont boil it. Add your white pepper and salt to season the warming cream. Get another pan and melt the butter. Take the butter off the heat add in flour, then add that to the cream

The ending was the worst. The whole movie was way extra. Too extra to really enjoy the entertaining scenes. No real substance cuz everyone was freaking nutso.

If that was a glimpse into married life I’ll happily stay single. I’ll never go see a TP movie opening weekend again.

First impressions are dicey.. It depends on whether you and the person travel in the same circles and what not.. If not it doesnt matter either way you wont see them.. If you do you might get to know them and understand them better. Ive passed judgement on quite a few in my day and one day it hit.. Who am I to judge? If we cool we cool and if not whatever.

Back from working out…. Feels good to be back working out.
I’m determined to get to my dream weight.

Sexy Cool: I would love to have a new car but that won’t be a possibility for me unless A) it gets stolen B) totalled C)repairs exceed cost of a new one.

I still have a note on it and the car runs great. Who cares if it looks like a bucket. My plan is to have it paid off within 2 yrs and I don’t plan on buying another one until (see A, B, and C of above)

SexyCool : regarding the statement about the dude wanting to marry me,
I’m not entertaining that thought for a lot of reasons.
I think the number 1 reason would be that I’m not dating him.

Speaking of first impressions, we went to look at a house in Snellville in very nice neighborhood (250K & up), the house was a foreclosure selling for about $150K. We pulled up and stopped in front of this very nice home because our GPS signal got too low and we couldn’t find the house. This lady pulls up in her Lex and says “can I help you?” with a very snobbish attitude. She then proceeded to tell us there were only 2 homes in the neighborhood and proceeded to tell us that we were parked in front of her house.
In hind sight, I can see how that would look to her to see 2 big black SUV’s sitting in front of your house…but this lady was a trip. She even walked down the street to house when we were there with our agent to see how much the house was selling for and asked our home inspector friend how much would the repairs would cost. She then proceeded to do her own tour of the home and stepped to another prospective buyer that pulled up with their agent.
