Tale of two cities
You want to know what happens when two single women stop being polite and start getting real about men? Well, if the two women are dating bloggers “Single Gal in NYC” and yours truly, only great things! I managed to catch up with the fabulous and brave Melissa aka Single Gal in the City. We met up for a quick bite at the beautiful Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta.
The Brave Dater
We both swapped stories of our dating misadventures – some side-splitting recounts of good guys gone wrong, and bad choices we have both made. I couldn’t wait to ask her “what are you thinking!?” Only I was much more polite, and I asked her what made her decide to go on a dating blitz in different cities.
She was very open and candid about reaching the point where she was growing weary of her dating experiences in New York. Basically, it was either do something that would move her closer to finding the one, or risk turning into a bitter New York dater.
I also asked what she has learned about herself in this experience so far. She said that she discovered how happy she actually is and now she is ready for the next chapter. She couldn’t have reached this point without this experience and I say good for her!
Now as for the Atlanta dating scene, I think she got a good sense of what its like already. She has spoken to some great people who told her what it’s like for them. She had a lunch date so far with a nice divorced man and she had a date last night.
Atlanta, much like New York has many transplants. You have a mixed bag of people with different perspectives about dating. In both cities, the men know the odds are in their favor as far as numbers go! When I was in New York, I had a great time meeting men.
For some reason, New York men really dig southern chicks. Of course, I played it up even more when I realized this! I met a really cute and smart young guy at a party Friday night. He kept me laughing! Mr. Hershey Goodbar has my email and we will probably be good friends. Saturday night I met Harlem Hottie. He was just my type, brainy, stylish and a little snarky – in a good way. We stayed up till the early morning talking and he has already been in touch. New York men get an A in my book!
Have you ever considered doing something drastic to mix things up in your love life? Do you think leaving your area code would be worth the effort? When was the last time you dating out of the city, or out of your neighborhood?

I say everyone should seek the love they desire. There is such a thing as there is somebody for everybody and it could be a matter of finding yourself in the right place/city/zipcode at the right time. Follow your heart yet listen to your mind.
As for the weekend plans? We are flying down to Miami for a few days. It’s a business trip for the marido but I hope the weather is nice and I can make a mini vacay out of it.

Have you ever considered doing something drastic to mix things up in your love life? Do you think leaving your area code would be worth the effort?
I have a good diverse group of friends, so I have been attempting to mix up my hangouts around town and try some other new things. I have thought about taking a trip to Raleigh, NC next month since I heard so much good things about the women there. The Atlanta women really arent cooperating lately. I have just been running into alot of grown immature goofy women. Playing phone games, flaking out, and being immature. Its to late in the day.
As I always say, women confuse pursuing with sweating. I will let that soak in….

Rell’s answer should be hell naw, but that is kind of how that article was reading to me. She is just on a dating tour and is seeming to be deceptive in her motive, so my thing is, as we have discussed about honesty between men and women, that is why she wouldn’t tell the gentleman she is dating the truth about her intentions or perceived intentions because she would be a burger king erytime. And now that she has put herself out there then getting a date from a serious dude might be a slim now

going to different cities just to sample dates would suit Paris Hilton just fine, i guess coz the average person cant do it.Its not real nor practical and feasible.

Raleigh is cool, mostly because they haven’t bought into the big city glitz and glam. It’s still has a small town college feel to it. The women are very receptive.

I’m sort of with Jeff’s first post. Maybe I’m a block head this morning and maybe it’s the fact that AT&T put nails in my cheerios today (so I could be skewed right about now) but from jus skimming through her blog/site, it seems like dating overkill. Is she just out to gather material for her blog or is she really dating? It seems she’s spreading thin.

A very good male friend once told me that men could smell a desperate woman. Most would enter into a relationship with these women for the perks. These women would do almost anything to keep the man happy with the hopes that they would commit and marry. Most guys know that these women will shower them with things and they don’t have to make great efforts to keep them happy. Now, these same men will continue to look for that special someone while in a relationship with these women.
Sometimes we look for someone to save us. That special someone with the Mercedes (or BMW. Take your pick!), six figures salary, and Armani suits in the closet and overlook the guy in the moderately priced car, steady job with minimum debt, good credit, and will treat you like a queen. That type of person may be your knight. I’m happy I snapped out of my quest for these guys because I almost overlooked by knight!

@M……what after TE, gave houston that glowing review you going to boring raliegh…naw joe…i would hit up miami or houston before i went there….or better yet…take it on the road pimpin….the DR, PR and all those island have good cooperative woman…oooo in the A from my field research most of the cooperative woman are not at the club or out on the weekends….most are out during the week or fridays before the “meat market” crew show up….i have not meet a flaky woman in months since i changed things up…actually i have had some women say…no thanks to me..but proceed to say….you would be better with my girlfriend….game is good to me…because i am good to the game

Interesting post. In my experience, men can smell vulnerability like a shark smells blood in the water from a mile away. Women can sense a lack of confidence instinctively. Makes for an interesting dynamic. I think you are pretty much right when you suggest that the the fancy dude is most likely using the desperate lady as a disposable toy. Happens all the time, IMHO.

Good morning!
When was the last time you dating out of the city, or out of your neighborhood? I’m ALWAYS dating outside of my neighborhood. I wish I could meet someone who lives right smack in the middle of my neigborhood, but I haven’t yet. Dating here to me is considered long distance at best, even if he lives in the next county.
Weekend: Taking my lil one to see the Harlem Globetrotters tomorrow, and piano lesson on Sunday.

I’m not sure I love Maxwell/Jill Scott enough to pay these prices. Maybe if the mister wants to pay em, but even still…
$22 to sit in the nosebleeds…or $71 to sit in the 200 (level). Once you add the $12 in service charges you’re looking at $166 to look at Maxwell and Jill on the jumbo screen!
