Dating Stimulus Plan

After a gorgeous weather weekend in Atlanta, I’ve started to get excited about Spring and Summer.  I was out and about this weekend having a wonderful time in the city.  How was your weekend?

I managed to go to at least three places I have never been to before.  It is so easy to get in a rut doing the same things, going the same places, and sometimes running into the exact same crowd.

Maybe it is time to bail out our love lives with a dating stimulus plan! Something that stimulates us so that we are  excited about where we live.  This could have a great positive effect on us, I think.  I definitely wouldn’t want to strike up a conversation with a good-looking dude only to find out that he hates Atlanta, his job, and is miserable.  I’ll pass.

Even if you want to move away, you can’t deny that there are many wonderful things about our city! If you don’t take the time to find them, it’s a reflection on you and your lack of imagination and effort – not the city. I’m just saying!

What do you think you can do for your dating stimulus plan? How do you get out of a dating rut or dry spell? It would be great if we could all list at least five things to do or see.  Something totally out of the ordinary and exciting enough to shake things up.

Happy Monday everyone!

@ Kimmie……. I discovered I had to get some new hanging buddies. Not drop my old friends, just find some new ones willing to try different things on occasion

I am with you on that, I was really shy up until about 11th grade and then college just turned me into a much more outgoing person, but my K-12 Friends still see me as that shy girl and because of that I don’t hang out with them as much. I gravitate more towards the friends i met as i was “growing”. We tried/try pretty much whatever. Just wish we lived closer to each other.

Cee in regards to the parking situation. When we got done having drinks and stuff we paid our parking which was $3. But the thing is since we sat sitting in the car talking till about 2am, we ended up having to pay more once we actually tried to leave the parking garage. lol Them dayum computers are just too smart for their own good. lol

I do not like paying to park. I’d rather tip a more money, than pay for parking. I’ve $15 & $20 for Fox & valet. Why?…just nerve recking!

Same here, Princess! I am a much different person than I was in high school! One thing, my parents were strict and did not allow me to run around, so I was not “fast” like a lot of them. When I went away to college, I came into my own and I am more outgoing. I don’t dress as conservative as I had to in high school. So even now when I show a little leg or shoulders, tastefully, it’s like “Oooh, I can’t believe that’s Kim!” Honey, I’m good & grown now, I go & do & wear what I like!

Yall thanks for clearing up the play date thing for me. Yeah Playdate has been going strong 4 years now. Imari has even franchised to other cities with great success. If you haven’t been to any of the Playdate/Call me up/Paint by numbers events try them! Lots of fun and an easy way to get to know folks while you have a great time. After a while you will see some regulars, but there are always new folks too.

It seems that activities outside of Atlanta are as popular as those within it; I’m like that, too. Living in the ‘burbs about 30 miles outside the city limits suits me in that regard, but it’s nice to be near the things a big city is good for: jobs (#1); an excellent symphony (wish they’d play outside town more, like at the Cobb Performing Arts Center — then I’d be a lot more likely to show up, I just don’t like the hassle of going to midtown, especially at night); museums like the High, Atlanta History Center, Fernbank; plays at the Alliance (yall can keep the local theater groups).

I guess really, overall, most of what we do doesn’t involve going to the city. The city provides work, but my interests lead me elsewhere for recreation. Certainly, most people in the metro area are suburbanites like me, and are probably like-minded.

Hey I’m all in on the zip lining. I haven’t tried that yet, but I know some who have, and they loved it.

I’m all about trying new things. I don’t care who’s supposed to do it and who’s not. There’s nothing worse than someone who refuses to do anything more than they did growing up.

Something about nice weather that makes you revitalize and revamp your life’s status. I for one am nature girl so anything outdoors is fun. I love going to Stone Mountain park and walking around then taking in the lazer show with a basket food and drinks. I love to rent bikes and ride around Piedmont Park….Wind Down Wednesdays in Cenntenial Park or even sitting at an outdoor eatery (Grape @ Atlantic Station) and people watch and talk to get to know my date. Now we can have all types of ideas. But if our personalities stay the same you are just spinning your wheels in the mud. I for one will not only be doing Spring cleaning of my home…but of my mind and life! Dust out cobwebs in both and let in some light to make some flowers bloom! But for now….hey Atlanta…London called and it wants it’s weather back!

Ok, well my cousin and I are in the process of planning a night of “Candid conversations” where we’ll invite over a group of people over for a night of discussions on sex, relationships, marriage etc. So i’ve been gathering a myriad of several topic items for this night. Anyhoo, we want to also play some games, and I figured a Battle of the Sexes would be a fun game to break the ice with. Any of you care to help offer me some questions to ask for that game? It of course will be the men against the women being asked questions about the opposite sex, to see which gender knows the most, or THINK they know the most about the other sex.

@ Ceemeeli: The colors are turning out to look better than I thought. So far, I have been able to match everything perfectly from the table runners to the bridesmaids dresses. My family and friends are in doubt that I can pull this thing off for the $5,000 budget that I have committed to. It is simple. I plan to keep everything nice and simple. Even got ceremony and reception place for $900. I am determined to stay within my budget, we are also trying to purchase/sell our home at the same time, so it is tough.

From a few reads a while back, sounds like you are on the path to becoming a Mrs. very, verrrry soon!!!

@ Slim- I attended a party for a friend at their home and they did a conversation/gentle debate scenario like you described. It was very intriguing to hear from the guys and the honesty was so refreshing. After a few drinks of wine/liquor, it turned into a game similar to S*xual Jeporady, which was fun, too. It was kind of awkward at the end when some couples and singles left upset with each other.LOL

@kimmie & JtJ Yeah we are hoping for a blast whenever we get it all planned. I’m sure no matter what type of outline we set for the night, i’m sure it’ll take on a life of it’s own. So we’ll have the karoake machine standing by just in case the licka gets folks to wanting to hop on the mic.

Dang, I completely overlooked the dating aspect of this discussion. I guess I have to be in the mood to date and open up in that area to see the benefits of my single and/or friend outings.

When single, I don’t really talk to strangers or take them seriously. When with friends, people inquire from time to time, but I usually give the standard “no thanks”. Maybe that will change by the end of the year.

Also, I don’t know what it is, but I’m in a more “less date atmosphere” mood. I want to do less dining out, dressing up and event stuff and more hanging over at such and such’s place and the like…more flip flops, shorts and ponytails…not raggedy looking…but you know.
