Dating Stimulus Plan

After a gorgeous weather weekend in Atlanta, I’ve started to get excited about Spring and Summer.  I was out and about this weekend having a wonderful time in the city.  How was your weekend?

I managed to go to at least three places I have never been to before.  It is so easy to get in a rut doing the same things, going the same places, and sometimes running into the exact same crowd.

Maybe it is time to bail out our love lives with a dating stimulus plan! Something that stimulates us so that we are  excited about where we live.  This could have a great positive effect on us, I think.  I definitely wouldn’t want to strike up a conversation with a good-looking dude only to find out that he hates Atlanta, his job, and is miserable.  I’ll pass.

Even if you want to move away, you can’t deny that there are many wonderful things about our city! If you don’t take the time to find them, it’s a reflection on you and your lack of imagination and effort – not the city. I’m just saying!

What do you think you can do for your dating stimulus plan? How do you get out of a dating rut or dry spell? It would be great if we could all list at least five things to do or see.  Something totally out of the ordinary and exciting enough to shake things up.

Happy Monday everyone!

Good morning!

Maybe it is time to bail out our love lives with a dating stimulus plan! Something that stimulates us so that we are excited about where we live. Yes indeed! I too was stimulated this weekend. The weather was fabulous and all the mixing I did was on point. Going forward will be exciting as well as refreshing!!

It would be great if we could all list at least five things to do or see.

1. Go to museum a little more
2. Go to more plays
3. Go for walks and people watch
4. Pack more picnics
5. Simply get out and do just about anything with someone or alone.

Thinking about traveling I truely didn’t spend no more if I would have stayed in town and frequent the city….so I am open to more mini getaways be it ladies weekend away or a date…with that being in another location i would research the restaurants or activities for that weekend be in an afforable concert or comedy club or free indoor or outdoor activites and also just walk downtown and do nothing is priceless too….I mean getting away soothes the soul and to be with some good folk away is priceless within itself….my thoughts…of course I wouldn’t e getting away evey weekend but once a twice in a two to three month time span I am down! LOL

Hey MIA- I have not been on here in a while, but special hello to Leggs, Melo, SexyCool, Raqi, CeeMee, etc.

I am at home with a dang toothache waiting on my dentist appt and thought I would drop in. I was just having this conversation with a dear friend who has now found herself back in the dating scene after 13 years of marriage. I told her that a change in scenery would definately be a good thing. Also, trying a different spot to visit like a karaoke bar, a museum, or just anything to get out of the house, period!!! I told her, “no one will know you are single or even exist, if you don’t get out and let them see you”. My 31 Y/O sister needs to take heed to this advice as well. She thinks because she is focused on her career change to nursing, that she cannot have a social life whatsoever!!! So, not true. It is all about planning and setting limits.

Okay!? Lady J it’s gonna be on and poppin. The wild part is the reunion is right down the street from where my mom/stepdad live…but umm a few of us are already talking about staying at the hotel the whole weekend just for the fun of it. It does seem that other people notice your weight loss before you do but hey that’s what’s up. :)

It was a very nice performance. This is my 2nd time seeing them and I don’t remember the invisible emcee, some powerful partner dance routines or the powerful solo performances. It was very, very good. Strong young men and women. Although it started out as a black dance ensemble, it no longer is all black.

my son is not of litte league age anymore, but his younger buddies have games that we attend. funny cause, he’s telling his lil buds what not to do…while i’m about choking myself laughing at them.

I had my reserves for some reason about recreational sports I just don’t want to hear of any misappropriations of the kids funds…or the dirt behind the scenes I want her to have a great experience and I am not going to be a parent/referee lolol I truly want her to enjoy it it is just the feeling of going to a new church or something lololol like whats the drama but really hope it is together so I will go in with a positive attitude….the 8yr were practing the other day and lil mama wanted to stay with them bust out crying saying mommy I want to kick the ball too so she is truly ready!!!!! @ Ceemeeli- Bit a bone in my burger (homemade yesterday) and it hit a nerve that sent my behind straight into dizzy land!!!!
I have heard a lot about the pizza bar, maybe I will convince my friend to go there next weekend. There are so many cool things to do/see in ATL, but again if you don’t get out, you lessen your chances of meeting some cool people.

Kayaking has been a recent influx of kayaking in Atlanta in recent years. That stretch where the river divides Cobb and Fulton. I haven’t been to Alvin Ailey this year, but it’s the same choreographer. It’s supposed to have a Black Rennaisance theme.

@ LadyJ – I was a team parent twice…score keeper too. But i never got involved in that “DaddyBall”…(that’s what they/we call over zealous parents) stuff. When you meet parents that right off the rip the first or second time you see ‘em, & they start telling you how good thier child is at that age (or any age)…just smile and say “well that’s good”…DO NOT get involved in conversations about; who’s kid is the better at 4,5,6,7,8 ect. years old athlete…they are ALL learning the fundamentals, and they will all need honing…

example: my son was great in certain positions, that he is still now playing at 10/11 years old…but he did not have the type of parent telling the coach he was better at this or that…he learned all positions, did what the coach said to do…even if get water & towels for the team…he did it….and would play whatever position the coach asked him. I never focused on ONE set of skills for him…
still learning.

How about Zip lining in Whitesburg, GA? A coworker told me about this place a few weeks ago and I plan on trying to make that a part of my Summer To Do List. However, for whatever reason, many of my AA friends are appalled that I’d want to strap myself to a cable line and zip across the forest amongst the birds and trees. I think it would be rather exhilerating.

Definitely plan on doing some wine tastings and cooking classes around town.

Will be doing more picnics this spring & summer. And eating outside on the deck more. I love dining alfresco!

Would like to take a jewelry-making workshop (this would be solo!)

Didn’t catch any concerts last year, so will definitely be doing that.

More weekend getaways.

I love the Va Highlands area and the little funky shops & eateries, so I want to hang out there a little more, take in more “artsy” stuff.

There is a ton of things to do in the ATL. You can’t be lazy about it, just be about it. Something for every budget too. A lot of it is not “obvious” stuff. You have to be a little creative and open to the many possibilities. If your SO won’t partake with you, grab a willing friend or even a child. Or have fun solo. Just do it, take the time to enjoy life more. Step out of your usual box and try to do at least one thing a week or month that you don’t usually do.

One great thing about stepping out on your own is sometimes you meet cool people that are out and about. Soon after I graduated college and got out on my own, I discovered I had to get some new hanging buddies. Not drop my old friends, just find some new ones willing to try different things on occasion. I don’t enjoy being around folks who limit themselves, complain, and criticize you for wanting to do something different. The worst thing you can say to me is “why you want to do that, AA folks DON’T do/eat/listen to that!”

@ Melo – noo…wii was not “in” 6-7 years ago.

He started soccer & t-ball at 4 years old, both in Rec. ball…then eventually he played two leagues…school & rec. added basketball.
Imhotep takes their little league soccer teams to Spain every year…my kid did not stick with soccer long enough to make the trip.
