Mix and Mingle For a Cause
If you don’t already know this, volunteering is sexy. In fact, I’ll take it further and say that single people who actively contribute time and efforts to their communities and charities make the best dates ever. Guys, if you can manage to enlighten your date about your volunteer work, I can’t tell you how impressive this is to a smart woman. It shows a lot about your character and ideals. It also sends the message that you possess traits that would be desirable in a husband and/or father.
I’m not even talking about saving the world or some superman heroics here. Heck, just seeing a good looking man at the recycling center makes me swoon. I’m all “aww he cares about the environment, I bet he has a big heart” - I’m a softie that way.
One of the wonderful things about Atlanta is that there are so many great charities and organizations that provide countless of opportunities to get involved. If you are going to get all dressed up to go out anyway, why not mix and mingle for a cause! Why not check out the local charities who have annual fundraisers? Are you currently involved with a volunteer project or organization?
Of course, you shouldn’t go overboard and attempt to treat charity/volunteering events like some speed-dating function. Please, don’t be that guy/girl. I just believe that when you are already participating in something that is important to you then you will feel good about yourself. Which, in turn, can make your confidence go up. It’s win-win. I’m not saying you will definitely meet someone wonderful but chances are you will at least connect with like-minded people who care!
Have you ever taken a date to a volunteer event or community service project? What would you do if your first date was at a food bank or a shelter? Personally.. I would be impressed. I know a lot of guys would think I would pout or whine about it. As much as I love looking cute on a date, I would throw on some comfy clothes and shoes with no problem. Some guys think that is when we look the sexiest (I’m looking at you, Drake).

@ Princess – Hair? Girl…i’m constantly thanking God after i bring my son to the barber and pay him that measly $12 for my son’s cut. I don’t see how i would care for mine and a babygirl!
If i had a daughter her hair would be braided or pressed…that’s what i had all my childhood…probably why i’m so easily swayed to get micros.

If i had a daughter her hair would be braided or pressed
being the baby (and by a long shot too 7 years to the next youngest) I didn’t pick up briading so i have to get my sister to braid her hair and my sister braids so tight she has made me cry since i been grown, so i don’t force her to sit through that too often. My daughter has a head full of long thick hair and so do i, I cut mine at one point to limit the amount of hair having to be done every a.m. but now i’ve learned to manage both “manes” LOL

@ Princess – Your mamma was like mine. I got a chemical at 14 years old. But then i was visiting relatives and my aunt allowed me to get it. When momma saw it! I was about to throw up!

Volunteering as a first date? I’m not sure what to think of that. It would depend on the circumstances and guy. If I felt a guy was showing off, meeting a quota or testing me, etc, I may do it but file it as questionable behavior.

@ Princess – I took cosmotolegy as electives in high school along with auto-mechanics, wood shop…mamma had impressed in me that side hustles are not gonna just happen…I need to know how to do something besides TYPE, and push papers….lol. My mother is very domesticated…she’ was did tailoring for Delta’s polits on the side…made good too.
When i was growing momma was the neighborhood braid lady…but i never told her i liked my aunts gift at braiding better…But i was the displayed head when it was braided…That stuff does hurt…and momma would tell me not to let folks hand in my head.
