Mix and Mingle For a Cause

If you don’t already know this, volunteering is sexy. In fact, I’ll take it further and say that single people who actively contribute time and efforts to their communities and charities make the best dates ever.  Guys, if you can manage to enlighten your date about your volunteer work, I can’t tell you how impressive this is to a smart woman.  It shows a lot about your character and ideals. It also sends the message that you possess traits that would be desirable in a husband and/or father.

I’m not even talking about saving the world or some superman heroics here.  Heck, just seeing a good looking man at the recycling center makes me swoon. I’m all  “aww he cares about the environment,  I bet he has a big heart” -  I’m a softie that way.

One of the wonderful things about Atlanta is that there are so many great charities and organizations that provide countless of opportunities to get involved.  If you are going to get all dressed up to go out anyway, why not mix and mingle for a cause! Why not check out the local charities who have annual fundraisers? Are you currently involved with a volunteer project or organization?

Of course, you shouldn’t go overboard and attempt to treat charity/volunteering events like some speed-dating function. Please, don’t be that guy/girl.  I just believe that when you are already participating in something that is important to you then you will feel good about yourself.  Which, in turn, can make your confidence go up.  It’s win-win. I’m not saying you will definitely meet someone wonderful but chances are you will at least connect with like-minded people who care!

Have you ever taken a date to a volunteer event or community service project?  What would you do if your first date was at a food bank or a shelter? Personally.. I would be impressed. I know a lot of guys would think I would pout or whine about it. As much as I love looking cute on a date, I would throw on some comfy clothes and shoes with no problem.  Some guys think that is when we look the sexiest (I’m looking at you, Drake).

Check out these great events happening in the city this weekend:

Stir It 28: Food Bloggers Align for Haiti Relief

Habitat for Humanity and Saigon Gourmet Haiti Fundraiser

Upcoming fundraisers:

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Atlanta Wine Opener

First Fridays (Portion of the proceeds will go to the Sisters of Faith Cancer Foundation)

Wow CeeMee I didn’t know they went that far with the stuffed animals n stuff. I’ve seen some corny stuff but the other people doing it(the ones giving said corny stuff) seem so into it I’d feel bad if I said anything contrary.

Side note: you know what re-gifting is don’t you?

Leggs, sounds like the boy has a God complex. And if he really felt that way why didn’t he tell that to his wife-to-be before they married.

“Hey look here, I want you to marry me but you need to know that I am special. A supreme being. All of my fame, fortune and working hard entitles me to have what and whomever I want whenever I want it. Just so you know.”

While we all do the re-gifting, be careful not to re-gift within the same office/environment that you received. LOL Saw it happen once and talk about somebody trying to talk their way out of a mess. LOL

@Raqi ~ that’s exactly, exactly how he sounded. Sure his way of thinking has changed simply cuz he got caught. I have to agree with him, all that’s happening on what he should do in his marriage rests with him and his wife.

Melo I was listening to Michael Basiden(sp), and a guy called in and said that he lived in Columbus, GA. This couple travels to Atlanta to do swing and he said it is the best. Someone on the show asked him how does it feel knowing that he is sharing his wife and he said he was cool with it and they have even done some folks together. In other words he watched!

Although I do not understand that behavior or mindset. I wonder how the conversation is presented, because some folks called in stating they would like to do it, and was not sure how tell their SO.

I owned an entertainment company years ago and we threw this promotion and it was swinger night at the venue but I was just there to talk to the owner. I had to wait for him to get back so I was drinking at the bar and it was ridiculous. Dudes was approaching me all night. Wives sending their husbands over to buy me drinks and convince me to have sex with the wife. These dudes were so serious. I was like man this is crazy. Beautiful women. I was asking them all are you ok with that and they would tell me that’s what she wants as long as they know about it then its cool. SMH

Steamed veggies, perfect. A nice green salad and nice baquette would be good, maybe with some softened butter or seasoned olive oil for dipping? What about dessert?

Afternoon All,

Lets see, On Topic- no need to discuss my charity work. However I do understand the need to at times advertise the work that yo do. I just dont get the charity work when you angling for some play. Thats lame.

Tiger – On the surface I do believe thats it ultimately between him and his wife. But this Man is the face of his sport. He is also a major receipient of major endorsement dollars. Whether he or anyone wants to believe it his image is a Brand unto itself. The things that he has done has directly impacted not just his family but the livelihoods of many many Families. Especially the folks that worked for a living managing that Brand. He also needs to personally apologize to the kids that his foundation works with. He signed up for all that, take the responsibility, he was happy taking the responsibility when things were going great. Now man up.

let me get on my soap box for a minute…..i can’t stand to see a little girl with a perm that her momma don’t keep up. ( i understand i’m lucky enough to have a child that i can most often just wash blow dry and plait her hair) that momma knew before she allowed that hair to be permed that it would require a touch up every 6 to 8 weeks max. Then got the baby hair all breaking off and ends raggedy while you rocking the latest and greatest……..

wheeeeeeeeeeeew okkkkk now stepping down from the soap box

Kimmie, I have a recipe where I make these little cheesecakes on top a chocolate chip cookie crust. I bake the cookies in a muffin pan with the paper lining, then I put the cheesecake filling on top and bake for another 15 or so minutes. When cooled I remove the paper and top with either fresh fruit or I get the frozen fruit depending on the season. I have made them in my mini muffin pan for bite size portions or as big as the jumbo muffin pan.

Either those or my ever so often made caramel brownies with a scope of vanilla ice cream and a sauce. (chocolate, butterscotch….)
