Meeting the (Crazy) Family

Let’s face facts, people. Some of us come from families that are a little…eccentric.  You have to be sure that when you bring someone home for the holidays they can actually handle seeing you in your family element.

If you are brave enough to take someone home for the holidays this week, you should warn them about what to expect.  Especially if you have a wide cast of crazy characters in your family that could possibly embarrass you.  Let them know what to expect!

Have you ever gone home with your date for the holidays? Did it end well? How do you know if it is a good time to bring someone around your relatives? May I suggest you watch Meet the Fockers for homework before bringing someone over.  You can learn what to do when you meet crazy relatives of your date!

Who is the most outrageous family member that you actually worry about introducing your date to?

What are your Thanksgiving Day plans this year?

If you want to get country getcha some ham and red eye gravy.

That went over some of y’alls heads, I know. Grits n shrimp or fried fish is the bomb diggety…but obviously it’s a matter of taste as to what we like in/on them. However Imma have to go in on the Cream of Wheat….what is that ish all about.

Dream I know about butter/salt in grits just NOT sugar…..NOT. It’s cool though, it’s our differences that make it all fun n interesting.

There was this proposal going around the internet, that I thought was just romantic/beautiful and well thought out. This guy had her family/his family in different rooms in a hotel. He lead her into each room, and in each room the family member would read something… there was rose petals in each room with candles. it was absolutely beautiful…

The last room was of the parents, and that’s when he proposed I believe.

Did anyone get that email?

Raqi – When I was cooking the Shrimp n Grits for a restaurant I used heavy whipping cream and cheese after they were made by the sous chef with water. I always had to have someone else taste the grits though…

Ceemee- grits—-> the FAKE CREAM OF WHEAT. Yeah I said it :-) :-)

If you could invite one person to your Thanksgiving dinner…living or deceased…famous or non-famous who would you invite?

Shenerica (17 year old cousin shot and killed). To tell her that her baby girl is growing so fast, and she is as beautiful as she was growing up.

Would you serve anything special to them?

Her own famous Strawberry cake….

I think if I new someone/friend/relative who recently got engaged, I’d probably scary the bejesus out of them. (After the celebration – I’d wait awhile before I dug in).

Cem – The frickafrackin’ connection was going in and out. I heard something about them being in a jewelry store and her looking at this awesome ring that she didn’t even know he knew she was admiring. She moves around to other parts of the store with my mom while he was with my dad. As they were leaving the store, he stopped her and was like, “Do you wanna get married?” Her response, “Huh?” (She was in shock.)

So, my parents and all of the people in the store who knew what were going on were watching. So, he asks “Will you marry me?”

BIG YEP!!!

(Or words to that effect. I will clear up any misunderstanding when we’re in the same place and I’m hearing it all over again.)

Cemeeli and mqew – now why can’t a person like Cream of Wheat AND Grits? Cream of Wheat is a cereal to be enjoyed with butter, sugar and a little pet milk. Grits is a side to be enjoyed with shrimp and scallops, fish, eggs and bacon and a host of other things

and I ain’t no sissy!

i have 2 stories…both are not so “romantic” as for as proposal or/and a wedding ceremony…

the first one is the proposal…

my gf and her babydiddy had been off and on for a year or two…the last year they were “off” it was for a good 6-9 months. What’s funny is they usually are not a couple when Mother’s day OR Father’s day holiday rolls around…kinda weird it happened like that twice. They reconcile and this time mother’s day pass…he’d taken her on her “dream” trip and they are really strong in it this time…and then father’s day comes for his day and He proposes to her…He comes over to her place during the time she’d would be in bed he calls her to tell her he’s coming over and it was 12:00am father’s day. As soon as he enteres the bedroom – BAM – on one knee “will you marry me?”…she’s in her head rag, pjs and crying…

She said that during her crying and screming episode she’d pushed out a “Happy Father’s Day” and he says = “Baby none prior or after this one will be better”…

awwww….i think that’s so sweet and gansta! lol :)

Wheatina is a brown form of Cream of Wheat. The texture is a little different and to me tastes a lot better.
