I have pretty much been on all the traditional dates you can imagine. You know, the safe and predictable ones. I know that I am not the only one who is tired of going to dinner and a movie for a first date, am I? I think it’s time we all shook things up a little.
Why not use the remaining weeks of 2009 to think outside the “dating” box and move out of our ridiculously safe (read: dull) comfort zones. Let’s all make a list of the most outrageous, non-traditional, completely out of your character date activities you can think of and then go do it!
We all need to participate so we can all report back to share how great/terrifying/outrageous thinking outside the dating box really is. We could even vote on who has the best idea and who was the bravest!
You know a great place to start? How about in a bull pen!
The Professional Bull Riders are charging in to town (har!) this weekend at the Gwinnett Center. Ladies, if you want to meet men you have to go where they have a good time. Events like this are filled to the brim with guys and yours truly will have an inside track: the hilarious and talented Flint Rasmussen.
I’m going to meet up with him on Friday for a quick interview to learn more about the sport and pick his brain on how to handle the manliest of men. I bet he could provide a lot of outside the box ideas, too, so I’ll be taking notes.
Who is up for the challenge? What kind of outside the box activity can you do with a date? What can you do that would be completely out of character for you?
What would you do if money were no object and you wanted to go the adventurous route for a date. Where would you go and what would you do?

‘OLD’ IS WHEN….
You are cautioned to slow down by the doctor instead of by the police.
Does this suffice, czB???

‘OLD’ IS WHEN…
An ‘all nighter’ means not getting up to use the bathroom.
You like that one?

‘OLD’ IS WHEN…
Your sweetie says, ‘Let’s go upstairs And make love,’ and you answer, ‘Pick one; I can’t do both!’

I’ve taken dates to Arts Festivals before. I took my last date to the Georgia Aquarium for their Friday Night Jazz Journeys series. It was nice to take a relaxing stroll around the aquarium and not get bumped into tons of stollers and screaming children. And, we even touched sting rays and other sea creatures. It’s a very very cool date. The music was cool and there was food and drink available. Afterwards you can take a strolling to Centennial Park and watch kids play in the rings.
I like taking dates with me while I’m shopping. For example, if I need to buy a shower curtain, then why not. I have to be there. It gives us something to do that’s low key, so there’s no “interview” factor. And, if we don’t like each other there’s a way out. Not doing chateau elon or jumping out of a plane. Activities where you are bonded to that person or you should get your will in order before doing are not good 1st date activities in my opinion.
I’d like to take a date to the airport and people watch. That sounds cool, but it has to be the right kind of person.
Do like dude in 40 days and Nights… he took home girl on the bus.
