Horrors of Dating: Karma
Do you ever hear of those urban relationship myths that talk about couples who get together while one of them was already in a relationship? They will be destined for failure because there has to be some retribution for the way they hooked up! I don’t know if that is because of some cosmic force or if it’s simply because the wrong people are getting in relationships.
Do you believe in dating karma? I have to admit, if I am sitting through some horrendous date being tortured by bad attitudes or boring men, I wonder if it’s payback. Did I do something in my dating past that is coming back to haunt me now? Who knows if karma really exists or if it is just our way of trying to make sense of things.
Have you ever made a dating mistake or committed some romantic crime that would result in some bad karma?
Do you think we should ever try to make amends and apologize to the ones we did wrong? Not only to ensure that karma loses our address, but to let the other person know we regretted it?
What about break up karma? Do you think leading someone on, pulling a disappearing act, or the jedi mind tricks comes back around?

No bad Karma here! I’ve always tried to treat others as I like to be treated, period.
If I unknowingly hurt someone and they didn’t tell me that’s on them… I didn’t know, so I can’t apologize and have no regrets. On the other hand I’ve watched some go round and round, can’t for the the life of them figure out why bad things keep happening to them. Yes, its Karma.

I am a big believe in “what goes around comes around”, just like Justin Timberlake croons in one of his songs (although he is just repeating what’s been said for a very long time).
While I am not perfect, like MsM, I try to practice the golden rule- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I’ve been told that I have really good emotional intelligence, which means that I am aware when someone I am considering dating has bad karma or just bad vibes. Which I translate into either bad karma, or just bad luck. I try and avoid being sucked into drama as much as possible.
On the subject of luck, I am reading a book now entitled “The Luck Factor” (I am a professional researcher and cannot get enought of fact-driven data and studies). The book discusses years-long studies that gives insights into why some people are more lucky than others. And it offers techniques to improve your own luck. So if you have had some bad karma, maybe this could help.

Good Morning All,
Hmmm..I believe in Karma but more in terms of past lives. Like the love and spirit of another follows you from shell to shell thru time. But I can’t say I believe in Karma like divine justice. Because there are too many people who suffer bad relationships and they have been nothing but kind to the one they love. So no I don’t believe the divine is keeping a score card of all your past mistakes, only to sock it to you on the other side. I think sometimes we just make bad choices in mates, but if you learn from those choices you gain a new understanding of yourself and your desires in a mate.

Dating Karma…hmmmm
I think I believe in life and the hits and bruises, hugs and kisses…good times and bad times. The reason I say this is because I have gotten some things (bad) that could not have been because of past sins…maybe I paid for future sins or something. There were a moment or two that was beautiful and perfect, which I am not sure I deserved so I am not convinced of this karma dating game.

Yes. I do believe in Karma. Always have. I believe that a great deal of the stress that invaded my marriage was brought on by my ex’s life choices and negative energy. As for me, since I’ve been on my own, I’ve had nothing but good dating experiences, so I’d say that’s the blessing for trying my best to do right by people

Been here since dark to get a jump on this beast of an account that was added, stopped a Chick-fil-a and got coffee and it’s gone already…yet and still I’m sleepy. …..and truly cognizant because from the very beginning…the selection process, you have come to know and understand every event or happening of that relationship will be directly affected from the choice you made in the beginning. Bad choices never yield good outcomes.

@Sassy – yes! they are THAT good!!! Prior to me going, i’d get/need a perm every 4-6 weeks. This year, i’ve had 4 and one time was me using a Just For Me to get my edges under control. They work miracles, you dont need an appointment, they are fast, you can go to anybody you want – you don’t have to worry about getting “stuck” with a certain stylist, and they are cheap! This morning, I was at the Fort McPherson train station. I saw this dude that was absolutely gorgeous. I had to start praying “Lead me not into temptation.” and saying to myself “Do not make eye contact. Do not make eye contact.” LAWD GEEZUS.
Had to check a tech for looking at his watch when I came off the elevator this morning. I was like “Good morning, Dave. Is there a problem with my time? ON TOPIC – Yeah. Have found that starting a relationship with dark clouds hanging about is a sure forecast for stormy weather. Never ended good.
I’m with the Infamous One – the law of sewing and reaping is powerful. Where people go wrong is that they think that they will only reap in the exact fashion that they sewed. It is not so.
I have learned to deal with people on the level that I want to be dealt with. If I do that, then I have done my part which is all I am responsible for. If I do not receive that consideration in return, that person will reap on that seed.

Now, karma can be fun to speculate about in colloquial terms, but it’s strictly a Buddhist and Hindu belief that one can bring results upon themselves, and/or as a way to reach Brahman. Karma as a concept is counter to Christian beliefs.

My relationship karma is old news – got caught up with a married dude, finally got out of that one and the next dude I fell for was married – except that one lied. First one I knew about, thought I’d redeemed myself for that relationship atrocity and then got caught up with another. But that was in years past… since then, I’ve been pretty good to the menfolk and I’ve been blessed with a pretty good man myself.

Never got into Halloween – well not after I got too old to go trick-or-treating. I’m so glad I won’t be home tomorrow night because I would pull my hair out if my bell rang every few minutes with a bunch of kids on my stoop.

We do the trick or treat thang at my house and it is big in my neighborhood. One street goes all out with decorations and coffins…fun times. I laugh at the idea of trick or treating because Bill Cosby in Fatherhood(i think that is the video) called it begging. He said parents dress their kids up in funny costumes and send them out into the streets to beg for candy..LOL!! My son is not one for candy but he enjoys the dress up and begging part.

Well, the houses that they showed had the realtors boxes on them. Maybe she had a realtor’s key and was showing houses like that. And then giving the gypped people fake keys later.
I wouldn’t rent from an unknown private party – especially one that they are still paying a mortgage on. I would be in jail on some serious assault/attempted murder charges if one day, I came home and found what’s left of my ish on the lawn after being evicted cause THEY didn’t pay the mortgage although I paid the rent. I’ve heard too many horror stories.

Hey Melo and Dream_n,
…stepping in for just a minute. Y’all I have been working hard these past two days. Whoa I was not made for all this work.
Anyway…fighting over a man is stupid and I include verbal arguments in that statement as well. Too many women think it is cool that mess is not cute especially at work.

I know it’s just sitcom television therefore fiction however I thought it to be a pretty good storyline….
The other night I was watching a George Lopez rerun and George was complaining because his wife “needs” to talk or discuss everything. He and buddy were talking and the buddy agreeing mentioned that the issue they were bothered by makes being gay seems very desirable. That way they would not have deal with the heart, needs and emotions that women have. That need to talk about things. They could be two men that think alike, act alike, and get along very well. None of the emotional lovey dovey stuff.
During the conversation George was drinking some tequila and he swallowed the worm. The worm made him begin to hallucinate. He began to imagine he and his buddy was a couple. The perfect couple. No “woman” issues to deal with. Well George encountered a problem at work but when he tried to talk to his like mate about it, he got a man’s response. i.e. “I’m watching the game, don’t bother me with your problems”. The woman that plays his wife was the house lady during his hallucination and she as a woman was willing to listen to his problem. He soon realized he indeed needed the heart, nurturing and care that woman have to offer.
Being with a like mate was not all it seemed it would be. They were too much alike.
All that to say, BALANCE. That is what men and women give each other. That balance.

A female co-worker won as Michael Jackson, and she deserved it. She even did something to her nose to reflect all the surgeries. She nailed it. Lots liked my look, and we had to parade around the tables for votes. I was told by one of the board members that I didn’t “strut” long enuf. Turned 2 in August. His voice seems to come in clearer I guess as he exercise his voice…after waking up. He’s so funny. He looks at the pictures of his books during service and he never knows how to whisper, so he’s like “WHAT’S THAT?” or “OHHHH” or “THERE’S MY DADDY”…pointing across the church. If his mom says anything to him in a whisper, he ALWAYS responds loudly. Not over the top but enough for everyone to laugh. It’s sooo funny.

Well my daughter called and said she didn’t fair so well in math on her report card. The conduct being good, she gets a pass. We’re gonna have to kick it up a gear and get her going. I revoked her allowance the first week of school but haven’t had any problems so I think I’ll encourage just a bit and surprise with reinstating. Ahhh, children and good behavior. I can deal with academic issues. As long as we’re building character, I’m good.
