Get a hobby, Find a date

The very wise Lou Holtz once said, “If you’re bored with life — you don’t get up every morning with a burning desire to do things — you don’t have enough goals.”  I happen to agree with him.

I remember my Dad would say that you can actually tell a lot about a man by where he spends most of his time and money. So if he has some over the top obsession or massive porn collection, you might want to pay attention to his habits, including their hobbies.

What kind of hobbies are you in to? How did you get started with it?  (No, dating should NOT be considered a hobby!) What do you think your habits and/or hobbies say about you?

Our friends over at The Frisky listed some hobbies that can make one appealing to the opposite sex.  I am not in favor of picking up a hobby solely to snag a mate, but I definitely love the idea of having/finding a passion for something. If  you happen to meet someone, then it’s time well spent and personal growth. Can’t beat that!

What hobbies would make you sit up and take notice and why?

Yeah, you have to be careful what you play. Subliminal messages are possible.

Tazzee – my sister has that same dilemma when working out so I do understand! And yes hair does take time, that is the bad part about it. Somedays I miss when my hair was as short (well shorter) than SexyCool’s.

czBrat – let that hair breath sometimes chica! LOL

Good Afternoon.

Hobbies:
I have coin collection.
I like to cook, but I wouldn’t call that a hobby.
I like listening to music but I would call that a hobby either.
I like fishing but haven’t been in a while.

I’ve been wanting for a long time to get into photographer.
I want to learn glass blowing.

I used to collect old bottles and few antiques that I would find at yard sales.
I used to run but that was more of a stress reliever than a hobby.

As for the topic itself, I guess anything done frequently outside of the house in places where people tend to engage and mingle could be a place to find a potential.

Hey Raqi!

I’ve tried collecting things but I can’t stay with one thing. Teddy Bears, coffee mugs, key chains, spoons, bells, shot glasses – all things I tried to collect from my travels.

I’ve broken quite a fee coffee mugs and shot glasses and thrown away a lot of key chains…

I would like to start a charity or teach some classes or SOMEthing for women who have hair challenges, but cannot afford the services of a stylist or do know how to properly care for their haif.

It is so unfortunate to see a woman with hair that is not a ‘crown of glory’. Really sad, actually.

Dream_n – I might could pass for looking like I got off the mothership myself today…lol It’s touchup time (yeah Saturday…I live for that) and I’m sporting a pulled back knot. Actually I have a clip underneath and my hair pinned around it but ummm, yeah another week and I’d look like I got off the boat. For real, it’s not bad on top, a lot of new growth underneath.

Also women who are overly ambitious with their naps. Trying to make their hair do something that it was not intended to do EVER. Most women really need to figure out the style that works best with her natural hair and rock that. Any style that requires too much processing, too much working, too much product, too much spritz….is just not freakin’ healthy.

And the chicks that don’t know how to do their own hair but can only afford to go to the salon once every blue moon. Learning upkeep between visits is vital.

If your hair only looks good the first three days after you leave SheNaeNae’s House of Hair & Weave Creations, you have a problem and need to educate yourself on proper hair care.

I did the majority of the framing, drywall and painting in our basement as the combination of hobby and regulation of the mind . It took a lot longer that what it should have taken but during the time it was what I did to close myself off from the outside world.

There is one big entertainment room, two bedrooms and bathrooms. I am proud of my work. I need to find another home project to start on.

My daugter found a piece from a hair track at my sister’s house and was like….”momma what’s this?!” I just looked at her and laughed…she said who’s wearing weave….all the while whispering and I was shushing her too. My sister might have snapped on us…lol I have to say though, when she first does it…it looks good.

i will raise my hand and admit that I am indeed guily as charged…

i didnt always have the mulla to do it over…

So the trick to that is.. take all the tracks out and wash them by hand individually… once washed condition them… once conditioned blow dry.. then flat iron and they are ready to go again!!! lol

I am LMBO. You know one time something quite similar to that may have happened. Johnny Storm told me jokingly once that “she don’t want to let go”. But that is TMI. LOL

Actually both of my kids have been sick and I just came back from my doc and dropped of a prescription at the pharmacy for Tamiflu for myself. They are having to call my insurance company for certification and will call me when it’s ready to be picked up. I hate to go back out in the rain. Mason thinks he is getting a fever.

I just packed the baby’s things and she is going to stay with the grand-godmother for a few days. And the boy is going to his father’s. I guess Mase and I will be here sick all alone, which is good. No need to get the kids infected again.

Okay, last one…I then SO use to complain about my hair being blah. I would would it long and straight, bumped on the ends. Well, I don’t have like a moon shaped face but I’m not one that can sport a short do. Anyway, I had it all cut off…the back inverted and a little lenth on the side. When I walked in the door…he says whajadothat for? That’s not working for you. Needless to say I wasn’t going that drastic again….tryna please somebody…hmph!
