One of the tricky things about dating is figuring out who is authentic and who is not. It’s hard not to become a cynic after meeting the phonies and the crazies. When we actually the meet the totally normal, completely sane individual, we aren’t always prepared!
Have you ever met someone that seems like the ideal match for you? You are attracted to them and vice versa, you have wonderful chemistry together, and they even seem to have everything you’ve been looking for. Then doubt creeps in. The uninvited thing that makes you question if the person is too good to be true.
Why do you think we do this so often? Is there really such a thing as too good to be true? I have even been in a situation where I started to expect “the other shoe to drop” so to speak. You know when you start looking for signs that the person isn’t as great as they seem? Most of the time, it’s not the other person that has the issue, it’s you! (ok, it’s me as well but I’m not alone, right?)
What is a good way to combat the cynicism in dating and relationships? Has anyone ever told you that you were too good to be true?
Happy Friday!

@Page, I like those shower caps for food. I thought it a neat idea when they came out. Always have the bowl, but can’t find the top. They come in handy. Bet there’s one in my junk drawer.

Dry Clean only? Wow.
Right now I have a big heavy sweater, a few pair of wool socks and a couple of comfy pairs of heavy sweats pants that I wear around the house during the colder winter months and all of those can be thrown in the washer.
I may just have to stick with that and the few blankets and throws that I use.

Y’all think I’m kidding, but I’m not. Here’s a tip: If you have to wear your bathrobe “snuggie” in public (i.e. to a football game), just say it’s one of the “designer snuggies”.
Can’t believe a Brooklyn-born kid just used y’all. Guess I can call ATL home now. LOL

Leggs/Page – I bet Glad Press N Seal works just as good as the shower caps!
Page – She sure did make us one! It’s this older lady that sews well. There’s a big pocket for some remotes, snacks, glasses! Mine is a little different from the backwards robe deal though, it actually is more like a sleeping bag.

Leggs! LOL @ shower caps for food. ok, so do you buy regular shower caps or the fancy expensive food shower caps? had it not been for the invention of the ever so popular Jheri Curl (or California Curl for us natives…the California Curl is a lesser degree of the Jheri as it is less juicy. it is often referred to the cousin of the Jheri) there would be no shower caps! lol

Leggs Now you know what I thought was Too Good to be True, Glad Press n Seal. I thought it was just another dumb gimmick but once I tried it I was impressed. It works really good.
And get you some Glad containers. They are inexpensive and when somebody loses a top I just get more. Better than buying tupperwear.

kimmie you beat me to it. The Press n Seal works very well. It actually creates a seal rather than just covering it up. If you knock a cup over with the Press n Seal you have 95% chance of it not wasting. The shower caps??? not so much.

Raqi – That stuff is a lifesaver! I too thought it was a gimmick until one of my forever pessimistic friends swore by it. If she thought it was good, I had to try it. Been hooked ever since.
And yeah, I love the containers too! Tupperware is entirely too expensive anyway. I get the Rubbermaid stuff sometimes though.

kimmie pockets on your snuggie actually makes sense. Just like having pockets on your bathrobe. Every bathrobe that I have every bought I made sure it had pockets. Why I don’t know. It just makes sense to me.
And I have put stuff in the pockets.

kimmie I also like those Glad containers because when folks be wanting to make themselves a plate or whatever I don’t have to give them my good stuff knowing I will never see it again. I have only one friend that will bring my plates or bowls back to me. Other than that I learned to give people the cheap stuff.
